#ExecutionStones or #Kazhuvetikallus of #Asamannur or #Asamannoor near #Perumbavoor in #Ernakulam district of #Kerala. Near #TiruVallazhappan shrine. Asamannur is etymologically the Ur or village of #Asoka Mannar. The Panchayat nearby is called #Rayamangalam where the Raya or Raja is also an #Asokan signification. The eastern Taluk is #Kothamangalam where #Kota is #Kotama or #Gotama #Buddha. This southern bank of #Periyar was #Buddhist from #Asokan times. It was Hinduised from 8th century through religious persecution and violence. The #Vattezhutu inscription on the stone at Asamannur marks more than 1000 brutal executions in CE 9th century. Details can be seen in the book Buddhism and Kerala edited by Dr Ajay S Sekher published from SSUS #Kalady.
