Mr.Dibujines He didn’t spam it. For the most part he used it in burst attacks. Also Goku was forced out of kaioken numerous times during the tournament of power due to stamina and receiving major attacks to the body.

Just wanted to point out that before the cell fight when Goku and Gohan were in the time chamber, they mastered super saiyan and made it their usual state. After coming out of the chamber, Vegeta points out that they were still in super saiyan form and they were "calm". Vegeta didnt sense any rage from them. This may have contributed to how Goku didnt get shredded when using Super Kaioken as he was in a more calmer state of mind when in Super Saiyan form.

I viewed it sorta like a car engine: Kaio-Ken is like a nitrous injector, providing a short, intense, burst of energy, at the risk of ramping too fast and causing damage Super-Saiyan is like a turbo or supercharger, providing a more constact boost, but can run out fuel faster or cause the engine to overheat God-Ki is like a tesla, a completely different power source SSJ Blue is a hybrid-electric charging the battery using the gas engine Kaio-ken blue is then putting a nitrous system in that hybrid. it has a high chance of just causing an engine fire by putting too many amps into the battery at once. Goku figured out you might be able to do it, if it is a mild hybrid, the type that uses the electric motor to supplement the gas engine, instead of charging the battery using a smaller gas engine. In either case, after the engine cools down [he reverts to base] all that hot metal, especially the electrical connections, cools and possibly cracks, but each time he does it, he heals, replacing the parts that broke with stronger ones

I'd love to see a guide on the Negative Karma Ball (not 100% on the name) that Omega Shenron used, the effects of which were later dispelled by Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta in DragonBall GT. IIRC the mere presence of the Shadow Dragons cast a field of negative energy around the Earth, but Omega Shenron was able to focus negative energy into an attack.

Based on physics, there are two options with how the "time skip" works. The first, is with slowed time. Now, its said that it simply freezes time for a short moment, a moment that hit was able to multiply with his improvement technique. Now if time truly froze, people would be stopped entirely so i think it may simply be accessing an alternate dimension that simply is in the same space continuum but a weaker grasp on the time continuum allowing him to improve his influence on time space with his energy and warping it further to stretch how long time is slowed within the same space.....or it could actually be frozen time. Now, we all know that the z fighters, for a LONG time now, have had the ability to go beyond light speed... that being said, the closer you get to the speed of light, a color shift happens relative to your speed. Time and space are linked on a fundamental level so simply moving from place to place at normal speeds allow you to move forward through time, as we all do in our lives, relative, again to our speed.....but if we were to reach light speed, which would actually take an INFINITE amount of energy, or go beyond light speed, then you travel BACK in time. Knowing all this, it might be safe to say that goku was increasing his speed so much that he himself also affects his own time continuum allowing him to slightly move backwards in time within a forward linear movement in the space continuum which allows him to match hits frozen time. Effectively, goku is breaking the time space continuum in both cases solely based on his speed alone, which is also how jiren broken hits time hold binding in the tournament of power. Jiren poured enough energy into his body to go fast enough to affect the continuum long enough to move in relative time, through sheer brute force.

The Kaioken is my favorite concept in Dragon Ball. But the execution of the technique I’ve always been mixed on. And Geekdom101 touched on a big reason as to why. In the first fight against Goku and Vegeta, you really felt the strain on Goku as he used the Kaioken. Even going one level above what he was supposed to what having enormous consequences on his body and after his times four, even a little slap from Yajirobe was enough to make Goku scream in pain. It really felt like that if Vegeta landed one good blow Goku would be down for the count. But the idea of mastering it to the extent where it no longer has any effect on your body at all, makes it come off as a transformation. In the Universal Survival Arc in Super, Goku was spamming x20 Kaioken through the whole arc with no consequences whatsoever. It makes the technique feel lame and you wonder why he doesn’t use it all the time. Imagine if in Naruto, Guy just jumped into the battlefield yelling that he’s mastered the eight gates and now he can use the death gate with no problem at all. It takes away everything cool about the jutsu. And that’s how I feel about Kaioken. In the hands of a good writer it can make any fight a lot more tense, but in the hands of people who just wanna see cool shit, all it is is another transformation.

Not necessarily. As he master x20- but only that. Remember: Kaio-Ken is a MULTIPLIER. Meaning it’s meant to hit higher levels. Say if Goku wanted to hit x50 Kaio-Ken, he could- but would still need to master that level as well. Kaio-Ken seems to me to be the technique one can never truly master, but always improve with.

It does make sense in a way. As Goku explains that divine power (sorry, god ki) is power through proper (or in the dub, extreme) control and calm, and also that Kaioken requires a calm mind and focus, and Goku found a way to clash these 2 concepts together, there, when he does go Kaioken in SSB (like during the Tournament of Destroyers), his body and his energy is amplified. Although, going Kaioken in Goku's Super Saiyan forms does elevate the Kaioken risks.

IMO: the blue kaioken is a toei thing, toryama doesn't like it or agree with it and that's why it isn't in the manga. But the v-jump thing is probably toei trying to hide this fact, saying "yeah it was there" when in fact it wasn't. i feel the ssj blue form is still very calm compared to ssj and other forms, but later what we saw mainly in the goku black/future trunks arc was that it still can benifit from a rage boost or similar strong emotions do to saiyan biology, but likely comes at a risk of stability or control since was the opposite of how they were initially focusing in their training with whis to keep their ki contained in their body and not let it leak out

Here is your explanation for Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken appearance-wise in the DBS anime and DBS manga. In the anime, this variation of the Kaio-ken synchronizes the two separate power boosts between Goku's godly transformation and the special technique, which is emphasized by the double aura effect, placing a crimson Kaio-ken aura outside of a typical blue Super Saiyan Blue aura. The outer Kaio-ken aura manifests as violently fluctuating and jagged while the Super Saiyan Blue aura maintains a gentle, flame-like contour. It would stand to reason that Goku may very well have been using kaio-Ken considering that time when he was using it against Frieza but didn't have the aura around his body. But whether he did or didn't use it is up in the air.

As i interpret it, in the manga version Whis and others have explained (or tried to explain) that Goku was powering up beyond 100% of his power. Basically beyond his limit and multiplying his power. Basically it does work like Kaioken but its not a Kaioken at all.

During the Buu saga, they made it a pretty big point that Goku's otherworld body is way more resilient than his live body and that's why he couldn't use SSJ3 as well as he expected to. So the handling of blue + kaioken doesn't invalidate the otherworld tournament use of with the regular SSJ it. Instead, it further BACKIT UP, being that if Goku wasn't dead he couldn't have even pulled off even the very limited use of it with SSJ. Using it vs Cell in that context, even for seconds, would have been useless.

I think kaioken was left out because they tried to stick to saiyan transformations. If they wanted a good fight, they easily could’ve thrown ultra instinct in there as well.

I mean in the first video for the kaioken technique guide didn't you say at one point goku was using the kaioken against frieza and we just couldn't see it? I mean that could explain the red aura not being there in the full color version maybe.

Super saiyans blue has three grades and people seem to not notice but it's in the manga in the resurrection F arc goku and vegeta are in the initial stage of super saiyan blue and in the U6 tournament arc to black arc (after leaving the time chamber) and survival arc goku and vegeta are in the advanced stage of super saiyan blue and the vegeta reached the mastered stage of blue meaning it's not exclusive to vegeta and goku will learn it eventually just like how he mastered super saiyan while goku was dead, and if goku learns mastered blue kaiouken blue will be even more stable state
