Hi Natasha, just wanted to say thank you for making this channel. I've learned alot from your videos. Very rarely do I get home cooked Trini food, but now that I am making it myself I can have a taste of home any time I want. I'm making fried carailee tonight per your recipe. I live in South Florida and don't get back to Trinidad very often, but now I can make so many of the wonderful dishes I grew up on. Thank you so much!

Hi Natasha, You made this recipe exactly like my mother's own with the green mango. The mango is the most edible, and appitizing to eat with dhaal, and rice. Compliments to you. Thanks.

My mom would remove the seeds from the meat you scooped out from the center of the carailli and combine it with the homemade kuchela. She would then stuff the carailli which she had parboiled, with the mixture Then she would shallow fry the stuffed carailli like you did. It was delicious!

Yes you supposed to steam it a bit to take out some of the bitterness and also rub it with some black masala so it gives it a crisp and color

Looks delicious, I have try it with the shrimp , but I cook my season cut up shrimp with curry powder , saffron, anchar masala, couple of tamarind seeded and cut into small pieces I use my hands to get everything out of the tamarind, garlic, onion, tomatoes. Salt to taste, parsley, chive, let cool then stuff karylie and fry, it's really delicious , hope this is something you'll like to try👍

🙏 hello this is what I've been looking for a long time. My husband grandmother made this but never paid attention 🙈 But I grew up in Surinam where I learnt to stuff it with meat and then stewed down in a tomato sauce. It's delicious also 😊

great video Natasha. I also love stuffed bitter melon. I always stuff mine with ground chicken. also I blanch the bitter melon. by doing that it takes away the bitterness since my kids do not like it to be too bitter.

Only recently learnt about this dish, and you made it exactly how my dad told me it's made. Was wondering, been using a steam fryer for vege that require alot of oil to cook, so therefore using less oil with the steam fryer as a healthier option (the Karilee gets crispy). Thinking about trying this with pommecythere cuchilar or curried shrimp...and curried shrimp tastes best dried (concentrated flavour) :)
