I think Riz exaggerated his memory of Tem’s death. I say this because I actually remember him admittedly saying this to Legoshi while they were fighting. I can’t remember what chapter, but he basically said he sugarcoated his memory because he had a hard time coming to the fact that (what happened in chapter one) is what actually happened. It wasn’t a sweet scene at all, he killed his dear friend and couldn’t handle it.

@@gregorythestallion2984 or is it? Tem might have said something. Riz was suffering from a psychotic break. Who knows what happened exactly. Even Riz wouldn't make a good eyewitness. In my mind something between the two different events happened. where Tem might have said something out of anger fear and care for Riz during the short struggle. Might have even hugged him in the struggle knowing that he couldn't fight him off any longer. Embracing his friend one last time knowing that this would break his psyche. That's how I would have written the scene and a small part of me honestly believes that's what happened. It definitely wouldn't have been as heartfelt and sincere as Riz remembered and possibly not as horrific as he thinks it was now. I feel this is more in character for Tem. That's why I believe this is what happened. It doesn't matter because practically speaking the only thing that matters now is how Riz remembers it. Because he was the only beast that was in the room that is still alive.

I don't think it was much of a retcon. It's stated that Tem was friendly with the carnivores in the drama club from the very beginning, so his friendship with Riz and everything leading up to his death was likely real. However, Riz himself admits that he sugarcoated the memory of Tem's death and remembers his taste more than anything else. So, the part when Tem becomes angry and says that carnivores are inferior and monsters is likely what actually happened. It still fits with Tem's character, because he was in a horrific situation. His friend had just injured him, and had devolved into a beast that wants to eat him. He was not only terrified for his life, but angry and betrayed at the same time.

Yea if anything it’d be very strange for Tem to be so accepting of Riz immediately after he got terrified of Riz not being on his pills anymore and then getting injured and running away. I find it very unrealistic that Tem would’ve not acted in some hostile way towards Riz after all that. And Riz himself says he sugarcoated his memory of most of the event because he couldn’t cope with it
@alexliddell31713 жыл бұрын
I think a good contrast to this is when (spoilers, I only watched the anime) Kibi the anteater gets his arm ripped off by panther Tao by accident, & that leads to Riz being revealed as the murderer later. Kibi says a lot of hurtful things about carnivores in the heat of the moment because... well he got his arm ripped off suddenly by a carnivore not knowing their own strength. In that moment he's not really thinking straight & acting on his own instinct of self preservation which almost gets him killed because he refuses to be carried by a stronger carnivore to the hospital until he finally agrees to let Legoshi & Riz help him as he sees it the two least threatening carnivores he knows (oh boy, if only he knew!). Tao almost drives himself to a mental breakdown over the guilt of accidently ripping his friend's arm off, he gets suspended & genuinely believes his life is over, but unlike Riz tries to take responsibility for his actions & tries to apologise for what happened. & after the dust settles & Kibi's arm is reattached, he let's Tao touch his arm to show he is recovering & trusts him, showing the things said in the past was a panic reaction & that they both can move on from this. I think that maybe if Tem & Riz were not alone, & if Riz didn't try to block out the more horrifying memories of what happened, their story might have ended the same way. Tem was probably acting on reflex & not rationality because he was freaking injured & being chased by a freaking huge bear who was off his meds. & I think that is what makes it more powerful for me, it's even pointed out in the show, there was no one to talk to about this with Riz & Tem, it was impulse & rationalising it away rather than dealing responsibly with his feelings that got Riz here.

While seeing how Tem embracing Riz before his murder is a possibility, I'm leaning more on that event being made up in Riz's head. The fact that Tem was the only herbivore to have a deep understanding and connection with him makes him want to believe that Tem's kindness was there even during his death to cover up the brutal reality of Riz eating him alive. Also like you mentioned (if the possibility of the event being an illusion), Tem saw Riz getting rid of his pills as a bad thing and the moment he was hurt by his grab he instinctively ran away. If Tem really was friendly to Riz to the bitter end, he would've done that *before* booking to the auditorium, meaning that Tem would've had his herbivore sense of dread and attempt to escape in the presence of a predator moments before his death. There's also this psychological thing about someone fabricating something that they want to believe happening during a real life event in their head, but it never actually happened(ex: you had the memory of meeting one friend in a park but it was actually another friend/person)(also idk what it's called, if anyone knows please let me know) Dang, this was a mouthful. But if it turns out that Tem was friendly and accepting to Riz seconds before getting eaten alive, that was be mega sad😢

Personally I look at this and see Riz self deluding himself in order to suppress and justify what he did. As well as to help pretend that Tem didn't fear him in the end. By the looks of the anime's season 1 stop motion opening, Legosi seems to be doing the same with Haru, in that he's turning eating her into a pleasant experience for both of them, ie the dance sequence. He's imagining her and him coexisting happily with eachother, only he snaps back into reality and realizes what he just did. Could be early foreshadowing. That's just a theory though.
@owenn.36194 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest clues, in my mind, that points to that scene being Riz's imagination is the window in the background. When Tem says the line about carnivores being monsters, the window behind him is open and the curtains are pushed to the side. In the next moment, when Tem says the line about accepting Riz, the window is fully shut. It's a noticeable continuity error that I have to imagine was intentional. It's worth noting that Paru likes to include the moon in scenes that portray a carnivore giving in to their instincts (like in the anime intro, where shots of Legoshi feature a prominently displayed full moon, but shots of Haru have either no moon or one that is blurry and indistinct). The moon isn't actually visible, but it is somewhat implied.

Personally, my interpretation of 'that' scene is that its an illusion, but in reality, Tem was taken over by his own instincts when Riz injured him, I think one good parallel to this is the side story with Tao and Kibi (which might have been intentionally now that I think about it) When Tao ripped off his arm, you see Kibi push away all the carnivores, he even says "you carnivores are all monsters" as well (at least in the French ver of Beastars...) In the end tho he forgives Tao so clearly that bit was just an in-the-moment reaction he didn't actually mean, I think the same happened with Tem, I think if Riz hadn't eaten him, he would have forgiven him and probably embraced him like his illusion self did (I still think its an illusion because i don't think he would have snapped out of it that quickly and suddenly) But hey, thats just a theory. @Nikkehy4 жыл бұрын
Tbh I think it was Riz's delusion. Beastars seems to explore the concept of "Reality vs Delusion/idealism" pretty heavily. The one thing that it reminds me of is Melon's mother. She tried to live in her own fantasy world where everything is fine but the reality is her son was miserable and she high-key wanted to eat him. And we get to see a little of that overlap in her mind at the end of her life when she seemingly tries to comfort Melon by telling him how much she loved him...but creepily pointed out the fear in his eyes, his frail body, and even brought up his father's "flavor." It gives me the impression that in the world of Beastars, there are some carnivores that become so delusional trying to fight their "nature" that reality for them is perceived differently.
@thebitten14 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think it was in Riz's mind, cause Gouhin spells it out right from the get go. A carnivores confused feelings will disguise the hunger for love. After cutting Tem's arm, Riz's instincts would've taken off and the haze of a carnivores drive take over. Riz had strong feelings (not essentially romantic) for Tem accepting him. So his instincts would've blinded him to what Tem was really saying to make him still see and hear the Tem he believed in. I much think that, while Tem was a good guy, when literally against the wall the fear of carnivores shown through and he said some things he may or may not have believed deep down. When just attacked by a person you believed to be your friend and deny their carnivore persona, calling them and their kind out as a monster seems expected.
@thebitten14 жыл бұрын
And then this plays along with Legosi. Riz is fighting for a phantom, a Tem that he believed embraced him for his monstrous side to be devoured. Legosi is fighting for the Tem that had his life cut short by a highschooler that made a terrible mistake. Which is the one that matters? The Lie or the Truth? Also the text said Tem showed signs of a struggle when Riz made the killing bite so.... wasn't a hug. He was fighting back...
@problempopsicle54304 жыл бұрын
I have a strong feeling Riz imagined that "happy" ending he had with Tem since thru-out that chapter he saw his connection with them as the right thing to do and talked about it as if it were a great memory. Even tho im sure Tem would disagree. Also, I may be wrong but at the time of first reading that chapter the anime had released its first few episodes and I thought it was correlating to the anime that carnivores have this imaginary positive scenario when eating a herbivore for the first time, it is a traumatic experience after all and carnivores are constantly seen by herbivores as monsters so denial is expected. So like in the anime opening when Legosi chased Haru and everything instantly turns into this dance sequence but at the end of the song Legosi ate Haru. I thought the same thing was happening with Riz and Tem but instead of a romantic dance, Tem completely understood Riz and wanted nothing more but to be Riz's best friend. Something that Riz really wanted bc he was lonely and never fully seen as what he was. That's my two cents anyway.

I disagree with the hug part and Tem changing his attitude. I think it was Riz imagining or sugarcoating the scenario so that he wouldn't feel too "guilty" about it. Almost like how the opening in season 1, Wild Side, where Legosi chased Haru, then it suddenly transitioned to day where they danced, and then when it transitioned to night it showed Legosi crying, and a pool of blood with white fur. Almost like it's what happened to Riz and Tem, did the 'dancing' really happen? or was it all in his head? When at that time, he could've actually just been devouring her.

Wait wait wait... in chap 94 doesn't Riz say that he "sugarcoated his memory" after Tem said "You carnivores are nothing but monsters"? Doesn't that prove that all the happy happy and hugging was just Riz trying to justify his murder? He also says he was in an "emotional frenzy." It would explain why there were scratches on Riz from Tem trying to resist even whereas Riz recounts Tem hugging him. I think Riz was trying to form a bond with Tem, who saw him for who he was; therefore letting him live the "adolescence" of a carnivore, but obviously failed miserably. After the fight Riz even acknowledges how Legosi and Rouis have what he wanted to achieve with Tem.

I’m pretty sure Tem wanted to embrace the carnivore side of Riz but since he also realized there’s a part of him that could kill Tem, Riz breaking Tem’s arm probably pushed Tem to believe all the horrible things about carnivores in his last moments. That at least makes more sense then Riz breaking Tem’s arm, screaming and running away, then being “lol it’s fine” and being way too friendly and forgiving. The hug is what makes me think it’s fake since Tem probably knows that Riz can still hurt him intentionally or not.

As someone with a history of trauma, especially as a young adult/teenager, its very common for the brain to either repress or re-frame what happened in order to cope. You normalize what happened in order to keep moving on, because the brain just isn't built to comprehend that level of suffering all at once. That's why therapy takes sometimes years to heal it. Because of that, I really think that it was in Riz's mind. It was a repressed memory of trauma which was only exposed when Riz saw the real deal between Legoshi and Louis. Seeing something which challenges your repressed world view, seeing how something is supposed to be versus what happened to you, is usually the first step to addressing trauma, and that's how I view the final fight scene where Riz has to accept his fantasy isn't real. Riz is an unreliable narrator, he's a mentally unstable murderer whose process of justification we saw first hand.
@Daltinian954 жыл бұрын
I honestly think that the latter half after Tem said carnivores are nothing but monsters after he was injured in the second part was all in Riz's head. He hallucinated the event as he wanted it to happen and heard what he wanted to hear. Instead of screams and resistance from Tem, he imagined a friendly embrace. He didn't want to imagine hearing anything so harsh from Tem, that he imagined everything after until that realization that he had partially eaten his friend.

I think the scene was changed in Rizs mind. A few pieces of evidence point towards this, not just the first chapter of the manga. Let's speak of the scene that was discussed in this video. Even in the altered memory, Riz can still see physical signs of Tems resistance to being eaten. The closeness of Riz and Tem makes it all the more likely for Tem to speak so horrible before death, because people lash out when they feel scared, hurt, and betrayed. To expect Tem to not think so horrible or bitterly is to say he would not feel betrayed by such an important person just turning on him. Riz in turn? He will blame Legosi, the pain from his medications, anything but accept the truth. Why? To him, Tem saying okay to being eaten is the only way their best friend would have shown proof of understanding him. To me though, this shows that Riz refuses to understand anyone but himself. He is so big and strong that it takes him getting beaten by Legosi to really start realizing what he had really done. During the last fight between the two, Rizs memories of Tem alter. This would be a lot less likely to happen if his first memories of Tem were real. There also wouldn't be physical signs of resistance to getting eaten if he didn't resist. What I think the real tragedy here is that Riz wanted to believe so strongly that he didn't betray his best friend, wanting instead to remember the flavor of the corpse above the last words of the person it had once been. It's only after Legosi wins against him that he starts to calm down. Would that be for good? I donno, as he's currently in jail. This means he's likely being forced to take medication and to stay well behaved in order to keep visitor privileges.

The version with Tem not then hugging Riz is a more style updated version of what we see in chapter 1 - Tem looking scared and agitated and exhausted while the window behind him has the curtains parted and you can see the night sky just pitch black. The more...”positive”...version of the scene has those curtains closed and looking prim and undisturbed while Tem looks less scared for his life as he tries to console Riz for what happened. I feel the real kicker though is the fact that Riz notes that signs of a struggle - resistance from Tem trying and failing to escape from Riz’s hold on him. I think that hug turned out to be all in Riz’s mind, but I do think that maybe Tem did try to calm down Riz - now if he did it because he truly was trying to reach his friend or did it solely to try to survive... Well we’ll never truly know, now will we?

I personally think the first chapter is still the real Tem. I think it's a Tem who was panicking and trying to save himself. Same as when Els thought she was being attacked by Lugosi and thought the similar things of monster, only saw her as food, etc etc. Fight or flight exists for the herbivores too and I think Tem was just trying to fight back with his words, thinking or knowing it would hurt Riz and either snap him out of it or distract him long enough to get away.

I think up until "You carnivores are monsters" is real. Cause if you look at the panel backgrounds, you start to see this dream-like background/effect is incorporated. It gives the scene almost depicted as a daydream. It would make sense for Riz's mind to alter Tem's harsh words considering the amount of psychological stress he's under. Ah, but at the same time, I want the first interpretation to be true, just because of how bittersweet it is!!

I think that mixture of scent of blood, possible mental side effects of drugs and Tem overall personality made those flashback more imaginary vibe Tem could be reasoning with Riz about pills and tried to stay his friend, but he also might acted scared, with lead to him running away, and resisting Riz So truth probably lays between those version that we saw

it is possible that tem did try to be friendly with ritz in the drama room...but I don't think it was to really accept him. He was scared of dying, and he knew he had a friendship with ritz before so he may have been hoping ot appeal to that side of ritz until he someone else could either show up, or ritz would naively let him go. But ritz was in a haze, convinced that tem wanted to be eaten so he ate him. I would also wager that it didn't look as friendly in rality, but ritz thought that it was genuine while tem was likely shaking.

You wanna hear my theory if what is going through that incident when Riz Attacked and killed Tem is an over exaggeration? Welp, by all means. My theory suggests this is all from Riz's head all the way and not what actually happened. Need compelling evidence? Well lets go all way the way back to when Legosi meets Gouhin. When Legosi expresses his feelings about Haru to Gouhin, Gouhin pretty much tells him that its Legosi's Carnivorous instincts that is taking the form of his feelings for Haru and wanting him to eat her. Even though Legosi pretty much proved Gouhin how he is different and suggested otherwise. Why don't we apply what Gouhin explained not on to Legosi but on to Riz instead? Riz stop taking the strength supplements is what lead to what actually happened to Tem follow by his carnivorous instincts to make it look like Tem is happy and tries to comfort Riz when in actually he is scared out of his mind until his final moments and was then devoured. Does anybody get what I am saying here?
@Starshadow-dm8ds3 жыл бұрын
I think it was Riz's imagination because of Tem's terror, the jumps in scenes and the fact Riz says, "on me were desperate marks of resistance" meaning Tem was trying to get away plus Riz really thinks Tem was smiling as he was devoured but for the scene Tem's eyes are filled with raw terror

Riz's interpretation of the devouring was a complete fabrication. Gouhin warns us of what happens and the lion/rabbit relationship shows what can happen when a predator confuses their instincts with their emotions or vise versa. This is a case of a predator who wanted his friend with him forever and the delusion he created to rationalize how he go about doing such a thing to Tem

I think the point of the scene is that we don't know, Riz is an unreliable narrator, but so is Tem as he can no longer speak we've seen herbivores go into a panic before so can we really expect Tem to accept Riz in his monstrous state? Tem was also a kind and understanding soul, could we trust that being faced with his own murder allowed him to think rationally? These questions we ask ourselves, its what Legosi asks himself, unsure how to feel about Riz and his actions, if Legosi will one day become Riz and lose himself in his love for Haru

Ya know what the last interaction between Tem and Riz reminds me of? The first intro of the show. Where both Tem and Haru are running away from their respective predators, the scene changes to something happy and kind, then suddenly, blood and death. Almost as if Legoshi and Riz's minds start to hallucinate to cope with the moment of actual murder.

I think it's a mix, parts where we see tem being kind is possible since we know legoshi was able to be a friend to some degree. however it's likely that the parts where tem is embracing his carnivore friend despite risk is where the illusion happens. putting in nicer imagines so he can cope with eating his friend. it also allows him to have a nicer imagine of his friend instead of a scared "carnivores are evil" look. It makes sense then why he hates legoshi so much because he tells himself that legoshi is lieing and trying to ruin his friendship
@astrollinganon76334 жыл бұрын
I mean, maybe Tem did hug Riz, but the way Riz remembers it it's not right, as sweet as Tem was, i don't think he would be smiling like that, if he did, he should be nervous, showing fear, slowly approaching him, and sounding less confident. Specially considering that moments before he said "Would you really eat your own classmate?" And later use "Because I'm your best friend"

Tem is kind, so he tried to live believing in the good inside every carnivore despite herbivore prejudice, but seeing his belief proved wrong by his friend made him react the way he did. And Riz, unable to cope with a Tem that wasn't sweet and all-accepting-a Tem that was openly rejecting his unrestrained self-repressed his memory and replaced it with an idealized one that validated his lust for meat. It's beautifully tragic.

Honestly, I always thought it was in Rizzs head with the last part of that scene. I do think if Riz hadn't eaten Tem, they would have reconciled sincerely afterwards, but considering how scared Tem would gave been in the moment if it all, I don't think hed be able to think straight. When I thought the scene over after reading it, n than what happened with the panther and ant eater (I forget their names...) it reminded me of the first time I got bitten by a pitbull when playing got too rough, and while I wasnt injured, other than a bad bruise, it still scared me alot. So I think it makes the scene more sad that Riz might have reimagined it in the moment when he couldn't deal with his instincts taking over. Sorta like how Legosi imagines a smoky shadow creature talking to him when he attacked Haru.

The way I interpreted the scene was that Tem knew he couldn't get away (i.e outrun a hungry bear) once he was in the lecture room, so either he tried to appeal to Ris' morals or knew he was going to die and tried to comfort Ris, knowing Ris couldn't stop himself. I don't think that messes up with the continuity too much as "All of you carnivores are the same!" could have been a panic response, after getting his arm busted up, rather than a truth.
@dustytailstudios3 жыл бұрын
I have a personal headcanon that Riz made up the final bit of Tems death as a coping mechanism! Often times, people who do something or witness something very devistating, their brains will try to find ways to work around it, to protect the brains complex psyche. I know friends who are DID who suffered through TERRIBLE childhoods too graphic to explain. Their brains couldn't cope with what happened and ended up making new personalities to cope for them. With Riz, he's trying to justify his actions, cause his brain can't take the guilt of knowing his best friend died in his teeth,fighting and screaming. Note, Riz mentions there was marks on his own body from resistance..tem was fighting Riz as he died. He doesn't want to remember tem kicking and screaming while he died. His brain created a false memory of tem, embracing him in a warm hug and telling him it's ok,he loves him. When on actuality, tem was fighting for his life....
@vossboss2204 жыл бұрын
Im pretty sure the true canon version of tem was probably a mix of the two from the two scenes but leaning more towards the second riz perspective version. riz's illusion mainly existed to justify his predation of him, because he wanted so badly to retain the idea of him and tem being the best of friends in his mind. To riz, ten accepting every part of him gave him an out, justifying his urges that led him to eat him, cuz if tem was totally fine with how he was, and his relationship with him made riz want to eat him, predation was the ultimate outcome and the "truest sign of friendship." of course this was all bs and riz knew it. dude was so wrapped in grief and guilt he self harmed, and he even acknowledged that the blood stains on him were made from tem trying to resist. despite how tragic their dynamic was, riz and tem were honestly really important to have happened because it gives us a perfect view of what legoshi and Haru could have been. what would have happened if legoshi had eaten Haru at the well? He might have ended up as lost and sick as riz had.

Seems more to me that once Tem realized Riz stopped taking his pills and Riz hurt Tem's arm, fear took over and caused Tem to regret ever reaching out to Riz and spit out all those hateful remarks. Riz, overcome with grief and betrayal, gives into his primal instincts in a moment of passion that breaks his mind and he kills Tem, mind unable to comprehend why Tem rejected him.

Great video! I can't wait for Riz's! Honestly to me the carnivores are the really tragic characters in these events. Being made to suppress parts of who they are to make herbivores feel comfortable. Maybe I read it wrong but I'm pretty sure Riz said that Tem hugging him and being compassionate towards him was something he made up in his mind. To make him feel less terrible about what happened. Even Riz says that his clothes were damaged because of a struggle. That seems to contradict him saying Tem went into his mouth with a smile. Even in that scene Tem's mouth is blacked out. Creating the idea that what Riz saw wasn't what was really happening. Which to me says what we saw in chapter 1 is what actually happened.

Personally, I think that after Tem told Riz that it was dangerous that he wasnt taking the pills Riz was proablably dissapointed (maybe even unsetteled) so thats why (irl) Riz attacked him but, in his dream he just wanted the old Tem (the nicer one) because he really got hurt by "all carnivores are monsters" and thats why we see Tem randomly forgive and accept Riz, while Riz acctually had his instincs take over and killed Tem,, who was proablably really scared rather than happy

I think there should be a story with Tem in the afterlife adjusting to his recent death and the events that followed, meeting fellow carnivores and herbivores in the afterlife along the way, and while Legoshi and Louis solve his murder, Tem slowly develops himself to coexist with carnivores in the afterlife after stating that they were monsters before his death. After his murder is solved, Tem thanks Legoshi and Louis for everything and also forgives Riz, wishing their friendship hadn't ended so tragically before passing on into a new life. Just an idea
@0deadx214 жыл бұрын
Considering the anime, which already knew all the stuff that happened in this arc, didn't remotely try to make room for any of this conversation in the lecture hall to take place, and considering what Riz said to Legoshi, it was FAKE. That "hug" was Tem struggling to get away from Riz's clutches. Quite the scars he left there.
@PlanetZoidstar3 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised Tem was able to leave any lasting marks on Riz, since in Beastars Herbivores have blunted nails and are extremely frail. He may have left some minor scratches and friction burns but nothing more. I'm pretty sure the scars we see are from Riz self-harming out of guilt for devouring Tem, I seem to recall it being shown-stated that Riz cuts himself.
@jesusdadiel96684 жыл бұрын
I think that it's a combination of both maybe tem was being nice to riz and care for him but when his life was in danger he said everything he said before he died what was said after that must have been in riz head since we do a jump from tem embracing riz to riz having killed tem
@mememan19493 жыл бұрын
I think after tem ran away and said that he likes the carnivores strength that’s when riz was exaggerating it
@randofloof4 жыл бұрын
I'm kinda thinking that the harsh version of Tem was a hallucination that Riz endured, because of his natural instincts. For example, in the scene where Legoshi tries to eat Haru, instinct takes over and kind of blacks everything else out, but, he was able to snap back when Haru managed to escape. With Riz though, it was harder to do that because he quit taking his pills. Pills can give you several side effects if you stop taking them abruptly, such as vomiting, dizziness, and nausea. What I'm thinking is that Riz was going through a bunch of dizziness and nausea at that time, which may have caused the hallucination of the harsher Tem. It's just a last minute theory though.

Tem: "Ahhhh! You'd really eat your classmate?? We took classes together! You carnivores are monsters!" Also Tem?: "(bleeding profusely)"I accept every part of you, Riz!" Yeah...no. This was (in my eyes) a COMPLETE fabrication in Riz's mind. It completely retcons the tone of the actual murder. Not to mention, in the original death scene, Riz lunges forward at Tem from a distance, teeth bared. Whilst in Riz's recollection, they were hugging and then Tem was gored. That makes no sense. Even Riz admitted to sugarcoating the truth to hide the guilt/pain.
@alexanderleonardi36254 жыл бұрын
we actually do know that tem hated riz for the murder. the version that embraced riz doesnt exist. riz remembered it differently because it was convenient. the way we saw it in chapter 1 was exactly how it happened.

What you consider poor planning by Paru...what I really think it is...is what Riz was seeing in his mind. As the guilt of him eating his friend ate him up so much and he started seeing a weird look into reality...that Tem wanted to be eaten. So I think this was what was going on in his mind.
@loveydovey97333 жыл бұрын
Riz did in fact exaggerate it. Thankfully someone already mentions that fateful chapter of his confession after witnessing Legosi and Louis team up, realizing he wanted the friendship THEY had. Knowing he didn't and couldn't have that with Tem. He also before then when reliving that scene describes as having marks around himself, signs of struggle. This means Tem fought HARD to try and keep himself from being eaten considering he left marks on a very powerful bear.

A couple few comments have already stated that Riz basically admitted that it was a delusion. I think there's a possibility that Tem tried to say something to calm him down. I don't remember exactly if it's in chapter 1 of the manga (I watched the anime then skimmed the part of the manga the anime has covered) but he even says something like "we were in the same classes together" which is a plea for his 'humanity.' I really didn't like the idea you stated that Tem hated carnivores. From the beginning he was known to hang around carnivores, even Legosi who wasn't really good with herbivores (or anything social) at all before the manga. I think it's very important to remember that during the struggle anything Tem said was out of fear. When (I forget his name. Also spoilers for the murder solution arc obviously) the anteater gets his arm ripped off on accident he becomes very harsh towards carnivores, stating that he doesn't want them near him (other than Legosi, and that's after being pushed because a carnivore's strength is needed). However, after the trauma he makes up with the cat who did it and as far as we're aware harbors no resentment for it. If Riz had stopped after hurting Tem on accident, even if he stopped right before devouring him, Tem likely would've forgiven him in the same way.
