Afterwards Cowtown Ballroom became the venue for regional, and 2nd tier bands trying to advance their careers. That's where Brewer and Shipley often played. They had the best chilled apples. A lot of bigger name groups during that era often played at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, the last place Patsy Cline performed before she died tragically in a plane crash. Very good description. I live very close to Kansas City, but another good place to visit is the country club plaza. It’s home to many beautiful fountains, stores, and plenty of cars and buildings that cost a pretty penny. There’s also tons of bad parts of kcmo. Like around the kcmo/independence border. Those boast some sketchy environments. But if you go around the country club plaza and don’t go around the neighborhoods in middle to western independence/eastern kcmo, you’ll be fine. 24 highway, and parts of 23rd street can get very bad later in the day or during the night. But the Kansas side is much safer and higher class. So if you were gonna get a hotel somewhere, go to leawood, or Olathe, or Shawnee. Those places are the best parts of kc to be in

KC is city of history. One of the suburbs, Independence is home to the National Frontier Trails Center, the jail where Frank James the outlaw was captured, and is where President Truman's home and presidential library are located. The library is significant due to Truman being the president that called for the first nuclear bombs being dropped during WWII. Come tour the town in a covered wagon! Or travel north to Liberty MO and check out even more history. Book a stay at one of many beautiful bed and breakfasts in the area or stay at the Elms Hotel for a visit back to the days of healing mineral waters. Lots of bike trails and hiking as well as water fun and Worlds of Fun theme park is also nearby.

Evidently, went to Grand Central at one point. Mom was 17 yrs old then. She had never seen such a crowded, trashy place, so she said. They moved to an apartment. Mom wanted to see the neighborhood so was so proud when made it around the block without getting lost. Ha! She got a job downtown in one of the stores, now gone I'm sure. I think it was Kreskes. Not only bbq, but we have a ton of good places, there is a pretty good Greek restaurant called Tasso's, across the street is a great burger+gyro place called Max's.

The metro line is being extended down to UMKC, uniting mid and south city with downtown! Right now downtown is too far to walk, and the weather in the midwest is extreme, so biking isn't reliable either. Est finish date is 2025. I think it will do a great job of reviving Main St.

And, don't forget to mention the past and present historical crime rate in Kansas City, Missouri, the homicide rates are unbelievable sad to say. My family has been in Kansas City since 1954. Also research the present day school.districts. the Kansas City, Missouri School District struggle keeping a superintendent for a long period of time; the district has just been reinstated certification after lost it in 2015-2016. I wouldn't send my Chihuahua to any of the schools in Kansas City, Missouri.
@phatike842 жыл бұрын
you must mean the KCMO school district, not the entire city of Kansas City.
@veemo84052 жыл бұрын
@@phatike84 she said the Kansas City Missouri School district. She is correct, and even though they have just been reinstated with accreditation they still can’t keep Superintendents. The whole school board is a clique and if you are not in the clique you’re out. If you have children best to send them to private school or a different district.

Yeah. You don't want to live on the Mo side of state line, save for Grandview area and NKC/KCN, and maybe Waldo, but living in JoCo and being close enough to enjoy the things Mo has to offer is great.

The origin of the three trails was not Westport, it was Independence MO which, prior to Kansas City's cattle boom in the early 1900s, was the biggest town in the area.
@jhandle41962 жыл бұрын
Many of the covered wagons purchased by settlers heading west, after taking a steamboat trip to Independence before the Civil War were built by a business owned by a free black man who employed people of all races. Independence with a population of over 100,000 itself is still the official county seat of Jackson County. It wasn't just the stockyards though that led to Kansas City's growth, but that it was built right on the river bank whereas Westport; and Independence are on the high ridges more than two miles overland from the rivers.

If you are talking about the metropolitan area, you should also mention that a lot of those 2.2 million residents live on the Kansas side of the state line, and that KCK is home to Sporting KC and Children's Sporting Park, the soccer capital of the US.

Kcmo is mostly detached single family homes and suburban sprawl with low density; more so than Overland Park and Lenexa. And over 50% of the metro areas office space is in Johnson county Kansas. Johnson county Kansas is the most densely populated and wealthiest county with over 613,000 people. Johnson county’s median household income is 96,059$ and kcmos is 60,042$. Theres more people living within 5 miles of downtown Overland Park than within 5 miles of downtown kcmo. Johnson county Kansas GDP is higher than Jackson County Missouri. There has been decades of white flight and urban decay from Kansas City Missouri. Kcmo has a big crime problem too

@@iknowdeweybrudda6564 I'm a native of Kansas City North, MO, now living in Springfield, MO. I left KC in 2005, so it's reassuring to know that the Missouri/Kansas hatred and rivalry is still thriving. I was part of it once as well; nothing good came out of Kansas except perhaps I-70 east. In my 20s I lived in Lansing and Olathe, both very nice communities. I also lived in Gladstone and Lee's Summit, same experience. The fact is, the entire KC metro is one community, every part is actually dependent on the other parts. We need to unite and fight the real enemy...St Louis! :)

Kansas City is home to several sports teams such as NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, MLB's Kansas City Royals, MLS's Sporting Kansas City, NWSL's Kansas City Current. However they have several former teams too, such as the Negro league's Kansas City Monarchs from 1920-1955, MLB's Kansas City Athletics from 1955-1967, NBA's Kansas City Kings from 197?-1985 and NHL's Kansas City Scott's briefly from 1974-1976.
