PunchingMegaTree yeah, that opinion kinda only means something when you have your own accomplishments. I'm just sayin', if you at least one music award, I won't even say you have to have a Grammy. Hell, if you have a cool T-shirt design, I'll toss you a point. Well?
@OnyxKami9 жыл бұрын
PunchingMegaTree for a regular guy, I make pretty decent bread. My pen work is pretty nice too. However, the point was that, 2 years ago Sway was tryna tell 'Ye how to go about establishing his shit. The point: money talked, bull shit don't have the answers. 'Ye did exactly what he said he was. I still don't know the name of Sway's line. You didn't answer my question though. The difference between me and you is I made a comparison. You just talkin shit for the sake of talkin shit. So what do you do again?
@OnyxKami9 жыл бұрын
PunchingMegaTree just a couple cars, house, apartment in the city. Nothing major. Where I live you'd need more than a few million to own acres anywhere. Of course if I wanted to live in the sticks I could do the same. But I don't. Rural areas are usually not so black guy friendly. However, my question was more so about what you did that was cool. Engineers are necessary and all, but that's boring. What artist skills do you have? You're criticizing someone else's idea of art, so what do you do that's artistic? Kanye West is not a electrical engineer. I don't give AF about how well he knows a circuit board. Neither does Sway. It's about the art bro. So like I asked at first, what do you do that compares to anything artistic? I don't rap, but I write and draw. Sooo, if you're criticizing art, are you artistic?
@OnyxKami9 жыл бұрын
PunchingMegaTree I just played classical piano. Nothing special. But, I work too much to keep up that hobby, so I write short stories and draw to get my art fix. I give you props tho. Talking shit is only acceptable if you have grounds, so I'll tip my hat.

But we mustn't be mean and rude to our fellow human being just because we go through adversity in life. I'd like to ask all of you good people to give him a break and show him that we will continue to love him and all who share this planet with us unconditionally. More than 99.999999999999% of EVERY person that inhabits this planet presently, in the past, and in the future, including "Euro persons". When will this rhetoric about "can't", "won't let us", and "still slaves", end??? What will it take??? How can someone today live the most luxurious life that is possible and have everything the universe provides and yet still act or be perceived as if they are in shackles??? As I just said, it's a crock of shit and is extraordinarily disrespectful to those who actually were in chains...

This interview is a definitive moment in Hip Hop and also music history. Kanye and Sway had a True moment in LIFE. And I mean Life as in learning and achieving new frontiers. They both climbed the mountain of ego and pride, as men and as Black Men in America. So fragile and so human, to the point of being humble. They both had to balance their own pride and agenda, as well their own image to bring this Classic Interview to Life. Hip Hop Lives in 2024

kanye was right all along. if u want to be successful in fashion u need to have proper and systematic production of a clothing/shoe. u cant just randomly find a clothing making factory and start making a product by urself. u need to find a brand that has been in the industry for a long time and is well known so that the people recognise the brand. u need connection with people in the industry so that u save alot of time and unnecessary effort that u might faced during the process.

It's like 90% of yall commenting didn't even watch the interview. Kanye is telling you exactly why he's frustrated from all the closed doors in new ventures he's trying start and surprising rejection from hip hop that is/was supposed to be a safe place for a rapper like him. Imagine storming outta your parents house to explore the world, you try shit, spend and lose a lot of your money, you return home a prodigal son and you get rejected and ridiculed outright by your own parents. When Kanye said that Sway ranked him 6 after Big Sean, it wasn’t about the literal ranking that he cared about. The point he was making is that him breaking into an unknown industry as a black man using his own money means he doesn’t rap as much and thus is overall relevancy goes down which still affects the clothing line he’s trying to create. Now he’s a billionaire and he did it all and his music is still relevant! Ye a legend.

I WILL ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN KANYE WEST. For the people that don't get it, I think Kanye ends up explaining himself pretty throughly, You just have to know how to read people. Of course he's immensely egotistical, but all he wants is acceptance into a fashion elite that won't take him. (Now that's his personal problem, and he's publicly complaining, but we all flock to twitter and Facebook and our BFFs when we have a bad day at school or get fired, or have our life crises. These interviews are like his Fb.) Secondly, people from his own community, his original roots, a lot of rap fans are calling him gay for liking fashion, and that upsets him. And finally music-wise, even though he's a hugely popular artist, he still doesn't feel like he has any real control over it. It's the suits that are writing the checks. He specifically mentions Lucian Grainge, a quick google search tells me that guy is one of the highest-ranking music executives today. Kanye's reached a glass ceiling with his sucess and he can't seem to break through it. When he talks about race, his specific problems with fashion might not seem like a big deal to most, but it reflects the wider issues of systemic racism. Sure his ego is unappealing to many, and you can brush him off as an asshole, but that doesn't mean there aren't racial and class barriers at play. His highly emotional reactions have deep rooted implications about society and the entertainment industry in particular.

I've been watching these interviews and it seems like people aren't getting his point. Everyone's telling Kanye "you don't have to deal with these corporations" or "you're not a slave you can do whatever you want", but Kanye's talking about the bigger picture because he's seen it. He might be rich but he knows the way the world works is going to hold you back no matter who you are unless you're at the very top. Us regular folk don't see it as he does because unlike us he has access to that level of society and he's seen the limitations they've put on the rest of society.

@AgbeODG11 жыл бұрын
It is foolish to try and build with your enemy, because they will hold you back. So don't try and merge or even stay partners with them knowing this, that is insane. If Kanye is serious about this he needs to build the factories himself, hire the middle men himself, and advertise himself and you can pay people to do that. Its called starting from nothing, not from the ground, from nothing. In many cases with up and coming artist, all they had was their memory for their rhymes, then when they conjoured up enough money bought a pencil and paper for their verses. They recorded in their moms basement with crappy, sometimes broken and nigga riged, equipment; cassette tapes and shit they had to go to the library to find out how to record on them, use old record players and shit, burned CDs using WMP and Hell sold Cds and cassettes from the trunk of their car and got the money that way, Funk Volume does the same thing and they have their own label now, they still have relevance and still getting money. Problem with Kanye is he dosent have enough patience. He wants to come right out on-top; sadly, for a black man in this country it dosent work that way and he's finding it out the hard way. He has forgotten how to go from nothing because he is so used to having paper and immediate satifaction. Merchandising yourself in the hood its called hustling and he dosent know how to do it. Ignorant of the rules of war because everything he has was given so he knows nothing about how to deal with struggle, so goes back to his security with his masters, textbook house nigga syndrome. "...ran so far from the streets that you can't come back, you trippin with nowhere to unpack, forgot that.." Common - 6th Sense. He dosen't know how to strategize. Dr. Umar Johnson says," If a black man wants to truely have anything he must own it." Thats how its gonna have to go because he keeps forgetting one important simple fact, that he is behind enemy lines. Higher Learning.

CoveFashion_za but god doesnt speak... kanye did, and if you listened to what he was saying THE WHOLE TIME, he wants a deal with them because he knows you need a certain level of production and they provide it. all the money that he has he still needs them because they have the KNOWLEDGE of how to do it and how to do it well, while he doesn't. people constantly picking and choosing what they hear and using it in these bullshit arguments... your too easy to prove wrong

I believe his anger stems from the fact that though he has creativity and the money to back it...he will never be let into the elite because of the color of his skin. I am really trying to understand his plight. The yelling is coming from frustration that Sway may not have gone through or fully understand. I think that Kanye is evolving and wants to become known for more than just RAP music. Let's be real here , as an individual ages they can't keep depending on rapping unless they are living through other younger artists or switch genres all the way together, or tap into a market (such as fashion) that will continue to earn them revenue and artistic status well after their actual rapping ability has run out. Rapping gets old as you age and there has to be another financial outlet. Another thing that I believe he is trying to articulate is, .....no matter what position that you hold in the rap game or how much money you have as a black man...you will never be "Let In" and always be at slave status (slave to the corporations and the bi product of slavery in and of itself). Nooow I get it! I have to go back to his childhood to understand him and the positions he takes at times. This man didn't come from ignorant people if this information I referenced is truly correct. Kanye Omari West was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda C. (Williams) West, was a professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, and the Chair of the English Department at Chicago. His parents divorced when he was three and he and his mother moved to Chicago, Illinois. His father, Ray West, is a former Black Panther and was one of the first black photojournalists at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He's not crazy at all, he's frustrated. It's actually quite normal given what we know about his circumstances. He's been in cameras for a while so he doesn't feel restricted by being on camera. Anyone going thru what he's going through would act EXACTLY like him.

Kanye you got all this money, fame and success but at the end of the day you are not happy. End of story!
@marieryder74969 жыл бұрын
+DaLeadBull Well....from his explanation of what "was" going on in his life...it's hard to be happy when people are hindering you and taking advantage of you, at the same time. He has a lot of money, but it was dwindling down fast...because he wants to focus on creating fashion, rather than creating music.

+DaLeadBull Unfortunate because he's aware of this (remember "Welcome to Heartbreak") but does nothing to change it. I love him. He's a genius. But his unhappiness is clear and he is a slave to it.

Don't mistake passion/ambition for sadness. "Money's not everything not having it is"
