Thanks so much for watching! Have any of you tried doing soap curls? I had so much fun making these. I ended up creating 3 different soaps and finally decided on this one for my entry. I may do a couple of quick videos showing my other two if anyone is interested.

You took your soap curls to a whole new level. I love all the difference ways you used to get them. What a beautiful soap. Top notch. I appreciate the link to the indigo powder. I really want to try to get some blue. The last two batches have produced green. Though I love green, I like color you are getting. Thanks for sharing you amazing video. Have a blessed week.

Thanks so much Holly. This is beautiful soap! And the music and filming...so relaxing. I see that you had linked the stainless steel pots in this video, that I had asked about in the comments of a different video. Thanks so much for that. I’m recovering from an orthopedic surgery and so grateful for this opportunity to learn new things about soapmaking. I had come to a place where some really weird things were occurring to my soaps after many years of soap making and I was discouraged. Your videos, along with Katie’s (Royalty Soaps) and Mrs. Soap & Clay’s videos have been immensely encouraging during my recovery time. I’m ready to start again. God bless you for being so sweet and helpful.

I was wondering, when you say make sure you have good ventilation in the room when making soap, do you mean open a window, use a fan, or what exactly do you mean? I live in a double wide trailer, and it's kinda hard to know where I would soap? I want to do the homemade soap, first time and I don't want to kill anyone with the lye fumes lol, seriously!
@hollysoapmaking5 жыл бұрын
When I made my first batch about 8 years ago, I was nervous about the lye, too. I actually mixed my water and sodium hydroxide on the porch, then I brought it inside after it cooled a bit. After that first batch, Ive just used my stove vent hood (initially in my kitchen and now in my soap shop). Once you make a couple of batches and get familiar with the chemical reaction, you’ll feel so much more comfortable and have a safe routine down that you’re comfortable with. The main things (besides eye and skin protection) are to not stand over the lye or breathe in the fumes and keep all pets and kids out of the room. The soap queens video on lye safety (I’ve listed below my videos) has some great tips, too. Hope this helps! :)
@steelersgirl0719615 жыл бұрын
@@hollysoapmaking Thank you so much Holly, I thought doing it outside was a good idea and the hood fan over my stove too, I wanted to make sure I was thinking correctly. Once I get a couple of batches done I'm sure I will get more comfortable with it. Thank you again, you're a sweetheart. 🙂

Thank you so much! My favorite soap planer (the larger one I used for the curls) was purchased from a seller on Etsy called Custom Soap Stamps (www.etsy.com/shop/CustomSoapStamps). The smaller one was purchased from a business that has since closed. I've tried to find one similar to link, but I've not had any success. They're both bladeless, and I really prefer that.

so beautiful, its easy breezy for you to make soap! jajaja believe it or not, I will try your recipe but I have two questions...is it necessary to force it to gel? did you make the soap at 80° F? how about room temperature when you were soaping? what was it? so many questions because once I insulated one and got too hot and cracked down :( maybe it was the soaping temperature...thank you for sharing your knowledges, is encouraging
@hollysoapmaking5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The soap used to make curls does need to gel or the soap will break instead of curl. However, you don’t have to gel the soap you create with them unless you want to. Temps: I believe I soaped at about 80-85°F. My room temperature was 68°F. I have had soaps crack before due to overheating. This recipe hasn’t given me that trouble, though. Here’s a great article by Modern Soapmaking in case you want to read her tips on preventing overheating: www.modernsoapmaking.com/troubleshooting-volcano-soap-soap-cracked-on-top/ Thanks for asking! Good luck with your soapmaking!
