Day 1 in Denmark! In this video, we show our first impressions of the country, eat some local foods, and then visit a very strange part of town. Christiania is a very unique corner of Copenhagen that we had never heard of before, so we had to see what it was all about!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this KZbin channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Wonderful video. I hope you enjoyed your stay. If you ever plan to return, make sure to come back during the summer, so you can experience TIVOLI Gardens and the outdoor life in Copenhagen. One of the things that amazes most tourists is that you can swim in the harbour, right in the center of the city. Nyhavn in the summer is a unique experience. I think you did very well with the bicycle ride across town.

First of all: yes, yes, yes to going in the summer. Also dress in layers. A English man once remarked that Denmark had extreme weather and I thought: "We don't have hurricanes!?" We can however have up to 4 seasons of weather in one day. Last week there was a weather report - and I kid you not - that said between 15 and 28 degrees (celcius), sunny and overcast with a chance of rain....and it was! Instead of strøget (the walking street in the video) go down Vestergade. It's the street to the left of strøget if you're standing on Rådhuspladsen (big spuare next to Tivoli) Everything on the left of that street is nice to check out when it's your first time there because it's central and close to the big tourist things so it won't feel too daunting. Tivoli is as much a money grab as any amusement park but it's worth going at least once because it is pretty and Liliputian. Also there are concerts every friday throughout the summer and they are included in the price of the ticket. You can check their website for the schedule: tivoli.dk

@@viktoraggerholm5102 Do you have any viable argument for why it shouldn't be legal ? Like any? Prohibition obviously only causes majorly increased crime, creating of gangs profitting on it, which in turns leads to territorial wars, and gang shootings as we already seen in Copenhagen, and all over Denmark, contaminated/adulterated drugs, resulting in more problems for the medical sector, which in turn you are paying for yourself through taxes.. a burden on the police force, wasting their time with zero effect, neither the demand nor availability has ever gone down, despite daily police raids, which costs several hundred millions every year. Time and money that should have been spent on solving real crime. There are literally not a single good reason to keep up the nonsense of prohibition. Especially not for cannabis.

First and foremost, great video. As a fellow American living in Copenhagen, it's nice to see others traveling to, what I think, is a hidden gem of Europe. In regards to Christinia, there is this common misconception that it is an unsafe, hostile, and a rather Salty Splatoon like area. This couldn't be further from the truth, it is one of the nicest and relaxing places to go to for both smokers and non-smokers. In any case, I think Christinia is especially nice during the night time due to the vibrant lights they have up. If you two have some extra time, I'd recommend heading over there at night! :) Safe travels and keep up the good work!
