Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

Nate feeling bad for not first worrying about Kara, I can relate, we all do that because we don't automatically assume the person we love is hurt, it doesn't make it right but it definitely happens to all of us, all we can do is try and learn from that and do better in future. It actually reminded me of when I was a little girl and I slid into 2nd base and I couldn't move because I sprained my ankle hitting the base, everyone got up and my mom and coach rushed to me but my dad stayed sitting, he told me later he regretted that because he didn't know I was that hurt, he said he knew me and I was tough so he was confident I was just going to get back up and shake it off and told me he was sorry. Sometimes we see the people we love be so strong and carry so many mountains that when they do fall down and get hurt we don't think it's that bad because we've seen what they can handle and so we don't stop to think that maybe they need a break or maybe they need help. So long as we understand what we did and apologize I think it's alright, things happen and we can't take it back but we can move forward with a lesson well learned.

Kara talking about not taking any photos or having cell service- "I feel like it's changed me." That comment right there is why I love taking people on their first multi-day backpacking trip or river trip. The realization people have with themselves when they are disconnected from everything else. Just seeing these people who are so displaced from themselves because of the world their surrounded by, somewhat find themselves, is the meaning of doing trips like this.

I love seeing this! This is a perfect blend of rafting trip and backpacking! On a rafting trip, you have SO much stuff, sometimes we set up wall tents for 20, a full kitchen setup, water purification, an entire groover, etc. But with backpacking you have to be so cautious about how much everything weighs. So cool!

Thank you guys for sharing this adventure. So proud of the four of you making this journey with none of you having done it before! Bravo! Having been visiting the BWCAW for 39 years and only having a few pictures from various cameras and short video clips to document the adventures over the years having your amazing, well shot and edited production brings smiles and great memories of my trips flooding back. You were clearly fortunate to have amazing weather for your trip which can greatly change a vacation into a real wilderness survival trip in a heart beat. It was great to see the waterfall at Rose Lake portage. Imagine that portage without the wooden steps! Sadly you missed the vistas overlooking Rose lake in either direction from the waterfall which would be the closest thing to a drone shot. As I have gotten older more of our trips are now more of a base camp version where we often spend a long hard first day getting to our camp location and then doing day trips of hikes, canoeing and fishing rather than moving every day. As you now know an investment in a great sleeping pad is gold and so glad to hear you enjoyed the time being disconnected. I love that sense and it’s how I recharge my own batteries. Plus having the phone spring back to life with messages and emails is the point when it hits me that my current adventure is over. I have shared these links with many of my fellow travelers and family. Thanks again. Love your work. Keep em coming!

I grew up in the 80s/90s and that equalled big hair and makeup. I've never been one to wear a ton of makeup, but I rarely went bare faced unless I was sunburned- which was accidental! I'm a fair skinned redhead and live under umbrellas and sunblock!)
