@Shaden Airoid Greene, I'm just seeing your comments from 2 years ago. I'm curious to know how you're doing now. I'm 3 months post surgery. I had the revision done. I was down 10 lbs before surgery and down 8 lbs after surgery. I've had some problems with my left hip which makes walking and exercise difficult but I'm not giving up. As my hip gets better, the more I'm able to do.

I’ve never heard someone so perfectly articulate the thoughts snd feelings I have about how it feels to live life as a fat person. Thank you for being so open and vulnerable - you’re clearly helping a lot of people by sharing your story and you’ve definitely helped me. I’ve been overweight for 24 of my 45 years and I’m over it. My quality of life has been absolute shit for years and that “voice” does nothing but yap in my head 24 hours a day. Hearing that, for you, that voice has shut the hell up and that it’s a possibility for me, too, is the deciding factor for me. I’ve been on the fence for a long time about getting surgery, but your video has been the tipping point - I’m going to do it. A million thanks and all of the best wishes in the world!

I'm heavily considering this surgery, and this makes me feel better about it. I am so terrified of getting any type of surgery, mostly because I'm terrified of dying during surgery. Which is insane, because the side effects my morbid obesity are far more likely to kill me than this surgery is, but the feeling of not being in control is a big part of it I think. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience. It is so helpful to a ton of people.

Hi. I had this surgery and lost all of my excess weight. Kept it off for two years. Developed a drinking problem. To put that into perspective, I was 60 years old at the time and I had never been a drinker. I guess it’s quite common for people who have had gastric bypass. I then regained all of the weight that I had lost.have you tried the new weight loss medication’s. I’m on one of them now. The only side effect I’m having is a little bit of constipation. I’m down 10 pounds in two weeks. I’ve also watched a lot of KZbin videos from people who’ve had gastric bypass gained all the weight back and are now on the weight loss medication’s.

Please keep updating us on your journey, a lot of us that fear the same thing about missing food or are stuck in the same self loathing cycle but doing minimal effort because were always tired, need to hear what you are saying. I was recently told I’m pre diabetic by my doctor and my brain still didn’t want to believe, and was in denial. Now I’m spoken to my doctor about weight loss surgery and I’ve changed my diet to carb and sugar free to loss some weight before the procedure and I have a sleep study coming up soon because I too wake myself up from snoring and my partner prefers to sleep alone because of it. I’ve been watching people like you and I can relate and you’re so honest about your experience that it inspires me knowing I’m making the right choice to take my life back. Thank you

I wish you nothing but the best as you move forward on your journey. My diagnosis of severe sleep apnea was my rock bottom. Having to strap myself to a machine was humiliating for me and it pushed me through the pre-surgery liquid diet phase. Making changes in your diet now will definitely help make the transition easier. I'm basically Keto by default now. I don't have to count carbs, but because I have to focus on protein first, I rarely have room for carbs after I eat my protein. The food cravings are very infrequent now and nowhere near as intense as they used to be. I was terrified that I'd be desperate "for a fix" but that hasn't been my experience at all.

I wish you all the like and keep sharing in these videos you are not alone.

There’s SO much I want to say and I can’t gather all the words right this second. I watched your recent video where you’ve lost nearly 120 lbs! Girl!!!!!!! You only lost 40 here and you were so happy and grateful. That says a lot. I thought I was listening to me but I was watching you. I cried throughout the whole thing. Some people may call those feelings cheesy but it’s simply freedom and peace I’m sure to feel that way. I’m praying one day I can think that way. Right now I’m like you but worse. There’s not a day that goes by where I’m not telling myself negative things and depriving myself from living. I can’t enjoy time out with my husband for all the wrong reasons. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You are amazing and I will be watching all of your videos ❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕

Hi Mariah. Thank you for sharing that with me. Not a day goes by that I'm not grateful for the renewed lease on life I've been given. Negative thoughts still try to creep in but it's SO MUCH more manageable now and far less frequent than it was. I finally feel like I'm living instead of just existing now.

I just stumbled on to your KZbin video, and since you didn't cry, I did. I'm scheduled for the same surgery as you next Monday. My doctor only requires a one day liquid diet but I have decided to do 7, can't hurt! I understand how you judge yourself, think everyone is judging you and that you are the only fat person on the planet. This surgery decision was a no brainer for me, I have wanted to do it for years but making an appointment and walking through their door was so hard because then it was a realization that I truly was an overweight person needing help. I am fixin to be 61 and to spend this much money on myself was extremely difficult, as most of us have to pay our out of pocket deductible and all the tests that go along with this, I was dipping into our retirement. I finally said fuck it, it's about me for a change and thankfully my husband was on board. Thank you for the video, you have made me see the light at the end of the tunnel will be a beautiful color, and I'm looking forward to going on this journey.

@Kara C, I just heard you say "I did it" with a very pleasant sound of PRIDE that you accomplished something that you weren't able to do before. Congratulations!!! I had the gastric bypass 30 years ago. I wish in my situation, that I would have joined a gym or done more physical exercise to keep what I lost off. I got down to 145 from 350. Over the past 30 years I've regained to the point of needing a revision procedure done. My ultimate goal is to get back down to the 150-145 area again. After my first surgery 30 years ago, there was no support groups to help me, no one to help me be accountable for my food addictions (cinnamon rolls & pies). This time around, there will be the support groups, post op groups, & physical activity groups to help. I see a great process in my future. All the best of luck in your process.

@@gbrieannful I had the revision done. I'm three months out post surgery with a loss of eight pounds. I lost 10 pounds before surgery. At the current time I'm pleased with my loss. I've had some difficulty with my left hip making walking and exercise difficult, so not able to exercise the way I'd like to.

My bypass surgery is scheduled for 06/21/2021 and I can honestly say that I’m so scared.. so anxious, so nervous. I know why I decided to start with the procedure but as someone who has been on multiple diets my whole life.. I’m just tired of failing.. I’m ready to change and be better.. be healthy. Your video is giving me courage and made me feel a bit better.. I hope in a few months I can just come back I say how happy I feel about it. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

I can't wait to hear your update in a few months time. I had the same fears as you. I thought I'd fail at this. Heads up: you will stall around week 3 or 4 (when you start reintroducing solid food). You will freak out. It's totally normal and it will pass. No one warns you about it but we pretty much all experience it.

I have a severe case of PCOS and Insulin Resistance and even with diet and exercise my body just won’t lose weight very well. I have been seeing a nutritionist/dieting, exercising, and taking medication regularly for over a year and I’ve made slow progress. My body is truly resisting non-surgical treatments. My doctors think this surgery is my best option so my health doesn’t get worse and the best way to give my body a restart. Thank you for sharing your journey. It helps to get insight from people who have been through the process.
@KaraChapman3 жыл бұрын
That must be so frustrating. Stories like yours are why I get so upset when uneducated people say that this surgery is "the easy way out". They don't realize that it is a tool that is often medically necessary in order to prevent or reverse other health issues. I wish you all the best with your own journey.
@LadyErnst3 жыл бұрын
@@KaraChapman Thank you and I appreciate the support. It’s by far the easy way out and I’m sure if other people had a disease that makes them gain weight and prevents the body from losing weight like I do they would think twice about those statements. I’ve tried for ten years now to lose the weight naturally and I’ve had very slow progress. Not every PCOS/insulin resistance case is the same but with my case my weight is uncontrollable without medication, no matter how healthy I eat. For me this has been my last resort and a very emotional decision. I need to give my doctor an answer soon and I think it’s time I have the surgery as much as I don’t want to. At the same time seeing your video gives me hope and excitement to look forward to. Our situations are different but our goals to be healthier is the same.
@KaraChapman3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyErnst I sincerely wish you all the best. I hope that you are able to view this as a means to an end and not any sort of indication of failure on your part. Sometimes things just are what they are and we do what we have to in order to protect our overall health. I hope that you'll see a reduction in your PCOS and insulin symptoms (I'm not all that familiar with either issue so I don't know if this is possible but my fingers are crossed for you).
@LadyErnst3 жыл бұрын
@@KaraChapman thank you. My doctors actually did tell me there is a high chance my symptoms from PCOS and insulin resistance can be reversed. It is the only way so far that I can think about it to make me feel comfortable because I did feel like I had failed although I have been putting the work in. It’s hard knowing your working so hard and your body isn’t responding but at the same time I know that’s why I need to do this. I could have had the surgery pre-Covid but I decided against it because I wanted to try naturally so I was putting in the work for a little over a year now but not as much progress as I was hoping for. Now I understand that this is necessary for people in my position and that there’s nothing wrong with it. Watching your videos has really opened my eyes and given me a new perspective on Weightloss Surgery. It is a tool and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I wish you the best as well and hope you are able to accomplish what you seek with your new life and new body.

Thank you, I think I needed this 🥺 It’s been about 2 weeks since the surgery. I feel like I’ve made the wrong decision because I’m just struggling with food atm, but just to see what other people went through makes me happy and pushes me to get through it. I can’t wait to get to solid food because I am so done with liquid and soft food. Although I never get tired of water… it’s just hard to drink the amount of water I want to drink. Thank you so much 💖
@KaraChapman3 жыл бұрын
Ugh, the water struggle was such a pain in the butt. I think it was harder for me to figure out how to drink again than it was how to eat. It's almost 2 years for me now and I still can't chug water.

So lucky that my surgeon didn’t require liquids prior and only 1 week full liquids after (purée week 2 and soft to normal the next 3 weeks). I do get hungry, many do, you are lucky

The liquid diet was the worst of it. I'm now almost 11 months out and I started to feel hunger again several months ago. I was grateful not to feel hungry for about 5 months; really helped me lose in that time.
