When Steve Carrell himself mentions that a show like The Office likely couldn't be made today, I'd trust he knows what he's talking about. And the Office wasn't as perceptually offensive as Karl Pilkington going off on why he doesn't like China; one's scripted and the other is more off the cuff and real. I wouldn't be surprised if one day the Twitter mob goes after Karl for some shit like "a history of racially insensitive comments" or something With South Park, seems they're just the exception to the norm. They've had a history of doing that so maybe it became their brand and what they're known for

The show is about Karl confronting his prejudices about other cultures. Whenever Karl says something insensitive or inaccurate, Ricky calls him out on it and corrects him. They make it very clear that racism and xenophobia are wrong. I see no reason the show couldn't air today.
