FINALLY KARLACH TIME!!!!!!!!! she's such a ray of fun in this game. Also: Basically the Descent into Avernus dnd campaign takes place directly before this game! Elturel was a normal city before it was dragged into the Hells because of Zariel and a deal she had struck with a leader of the city which dragged the Hellriders (which were the holy protector riders of Elturel, it's what Zevlor is) into being forced to help her meanwhile the poor citizens (not just tieflings, all kinds of people) suddenly found themselves scared trying to find shelter in Avernus. Reason there's refugees in this game is that following the events of that the people started showing an intense prejudice against tieflings blaming them for their city being dragged to hell given tiefling's infernal natures (which was an unjustified hatred since it was not the tiefling citizens fault). And they kicked all the tieflings out of their city :( so its not just that the city is in ruins, it's that the tieflings were forced to leave it
