Had the prime lite for a couple of years now. Thing has been rock solid. No complaints at all with it and I have a couple of buttkickers attached that haven't shaken anything loose yet. Only minor issue with my purchase is the seat I got with it. Its very comfortable but as a recliner the joint can creak a bit when applying a lot of force to the brake pedal. Using noise cancelling headphones 'fixes' that issue for me but for those who like a heavier brake you might want to get a bucket seat instead. Suspect this might be an issue for any recliner. To get better simulation of suspension forces from the buttkickers I raise my rig off the ground using rubber squares. These make two pivot points (quite wide so supportive) at the center back and center front between the frame and the floor. This is the only reason I'd think twice about choosing this new R version if I had to choose one now. Not sure I'd want to put all that stress on the smaller profile. If you're not planning on doing something funky like that the R version looks great.
@KarlGosling2 ай бұрын
Agreed mate all recliners have this issue and is why buckets exist for those that don't need the adjustment.

This would be a great option for someone who wanted the rigidness of a profile rig but also wanted to utilize bass shakers. I love bass shakers but I've always found cockpits that use 4080 or larger tend to dull out the feeling of the shakers because they are so stiff. I feel like this would be a great compromise of stiffness while also allowing the effects of the shakers to come through quite well. Great review Karl!

There is no Prime Lite R in US site to this date. I just purchased Prime Lite. It was over $350. With the seat at $170, it's over 500. Then the shipping was $220 lol. I'm new to this and bought it a few days ago when I was drunk lol. Before that, I had hesitated and gaped at the shipping cost. Prime lite was about the cheapest but quality cockpit I could find. Still you would be slapped with near $900 including everything. Just know what you're getting into. I have an old Thrustmaster wheel and pedals. Looking into the set, it looks like I could spend another $900-1500 in a decent set (I use ps4 to play GT7). The cost is nothing compared with my RC racing days but still this is not a cheap hobby. Good thing is this doesn't really have any recurring cost once you buy the rig and wheel/pedal set. That's of course on the condition that you don't go crazy with all those e breaks, expensive peddals and shifter. Seems like most people play the sim with their computer. You can get away with $1000 to get a full set of computer but then you might want all the accessories to put the keyboard, some crazy looking controllers (I have no idea what those are), TV mount if you want, Triple monitor if you want, vibrator under the seat and so on. This could easily become more than 5 grand expense.

@LeoDavidson2 ай бұрын
The only reason not to use alu profile is if you can't afford it, and this is so well priced that it's a no-brainer for people who don't want/need something more beef and expensive. Alu profile is so useful for mounting all the stuff you don't even think about when first ordering your rig. Mounts for haptic feedback. Mounts for PSUs and amplifiers. Holders for headphones, keyboards, drinks, phones, etc. And it's easy to design and 3D-print custom mounts that exactly fit your kit, even if it wasn't designed with sim-racing in mind. Alu profile looks less "designed" and more generic than other types of cockpits, because most of it is generic, but the things it lets you do and the amount of lets you adjust everything makes it the best and smartest choice. BTW, Karl, have Fanatec sent you that Bentley wheel to review? Nobody has reviewed it yet, even though it's been on sale for weeks now, which is very weird. I know Will at Boosted had the hardware a while ago but was waiting on software, but the software must be out by now as there are videos of regular people unboxing and using the wheel. (I suspect Will has a big backlog, but keep wondering why nobody else has been sent them for review. Like, is something wrong with the wheel?)
@KarlGosling2 ай бұрын
Not everyone likes the industrial look of profile, tubular is much nicer in some eyes! But yes it's benefits are unmatched for sure! :D No mate Fanatac have had no review stock for months (Physical product promotion was put on hold whilst the insolvency was sorted out) but now Corsair are in the driving seat this is set to change.
@LeoDavidson2 ай бұрын
@@KarlGosling Totally true, at least at first. Once you bolt enough on, you can't see much of the profile. :D It was hard to understand how good profile was until I had something else first and then started to want to add things that were trivial with profile but really hard with the rig I had. I wish I had gone straight to profile. Ta for the info about Fanatec! So far Corsair seem to be doing a good job fixing things. Fingers crossed they get back on track.

It makes me wonder if someone could make an ultra-budget profile rig using 4040 everywhere - even for the wheel uprights. Might not be as strong as 4080 but you'd think it'd still be stronger than the parts used on the likes of the ART and similar.

Hi Karl. I recently bought the GT Omega PRIME Lite cockpit after watching your great review! There is just one issue. When I went to order a seat with it, I noticed that all the bucket seats were out of stock. Is it usually like this? Do you have an idea of when they're likely to restock? Also one more thing. I like a decently firm brake pedal. (Right around 110kg of force) Are the recliner seats even worth considering with this in mind? I'm wondering since I've seen a pretty big amount of flex in these seats when pushing on the brake pedal. Thank you in advance! :)

Stock comes and goes mate, running low or out happens fairly regularly but then so does a restock. Yes all recliners flex under hard braking, for me I don't mind but if you're sensitive to it then maybe wait for a bucket.

But yours is the only review on this so far and if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t even know it existed. In my country just the aluminum profile itself would cost almost as much as this thing does and that doesn’t include the wheel and pedal plates and bolts as nuts and the rest. So thanks. It was not criticism just expressing my wishes. :) Edit: Now I'm using it with a Simagic Alpha. In driver at the moment I have it set at 100% power and maximum force 15NM, but in iracing around 40-50% intensity (so around 6.8-7.1 strength setting for the AMG GT3, close to that for SF23 as well). It feels rock solid to me. But before this I used a playseat challenge with the csl DD. That was not that solid, so compared to that it's a HUGE step up. I did try it just for fun set to 100% everywhere, and even than it felt very solid. Hitting kerbs made the connections make a knocking sound sometimes, but I didn't feel any movement in the frame even at max force. Of course it's not that much fun to play like that :)

Looks great but the seat looks very low, Great review
@KarlGoslingАй бұрын
The seat is lower than some by 40mm, but also the whole rig looks low because it's on 4040 profile.

You're ordering from the UK mate, they have no US stock, hence the shipping.

Genuinely, why would I go for this over the Next Level Racing rig you recently reviewed here? This is like £200 more for what?
For 215 I think there's no sense to buy any other beginner cockpit. Should have bought this instead😅

If you like ally profile then agreed mate!

Imho, a horrible decision to use a 4040 on the bottom. If they used a 4080, it could have been a solid rig with much less flex and only a little extra weight. ...
@KarlGosling2 ай бұрын
You're missing the point mate... If they did that it would have been more expensive and too close to a Prime Lite, this sits perfectly in place for price and performance.

Some observations on my gt omega lite R, After some heavy use I found the mounting cross section loosened of from the upright sections,I cured this by adding four extra internal angle pieces on the top of the cross section to cure this. Another point my t nuts did not seem to drop in like suggested on the instruction sheet and made things difficult assembling if you missed a t nut somewhere in assembly, then scratching the profile when disassembling to replace missed t nut.
