Karlos has definitely improved his technique over the years since he came on everyone’s radar. I think everyone interested in weightlifting understands his technique has quirks that wouldn’t be so great for everyone but we can all appreciate his strength and the fire he lifts with! I hope Karlos continues to stay healthy and have better performances with age. He’s one of the most exciting lifters currently competing and I was happy to see him do so well in the Olympics!!!

Just thought I’d ask cuz I’ve always been curious Gabriel- I realize that medals are the goal for international weightlifting competitors such as yourself - but is there any lift in particular either in competition or in training that you are particularly proud of? Either snatch or clean and jerk or other lifts like squats/pull/presses? I’ve always wondered how many lifters have a particular PR they’re proud of for whatever reason! I’d like to think Lasha is proud of some of his world records 😅

I'm proud and I still remember clearly my first 100kg clean and jerk. 2 blue plates was something big for me!

It would be really good if you could explain what you mean when you talk abould using your quads, back and hamstrings and the impact it has on the lift. I expect many lifters do this without thinking...

Hi Gabriel: Weightlifting House has a video from 2023 Qatar World Cup at 81Kg, competing with Rahmat Erwin Abdulla, equaling a C&J World record. That north korean uses a kind of frog style stance at the start of his lifts. All Things Gym also has a training hall video from 2024 Phuket World Cup. I like your analysis of different technique variations.

@@alubchicken same with the two from Indonesia lifters. i also cant watch people snatch with a belt. makes pretty much no sense physiologically. unless your back is really messed. .
