If you need some special specific thing you’ve got better chances of either finding a plugin or making your own. Houdini obviously is in a class of its own but is less approachable. If those LLM companies want to do something new, they can do this. -- allow a user to upload a .blend file -- have conversations with it about that blend file, such as objects to create/edit, animations that you would like created or adjusted, creaete all the animation rigs for easier animating, have a certain type of particles start emitting from an emitter at a certain frame, setup all your physics for you, create all the materials, etc. -- this is the challenge I put to them. Have their system update the blend file. It doesn't even need to show us the results. Just update the file as requested. -- text-to-grease-pencil is a bonus

open source software can be seen as a snowball, if you pack together more snow, and then roll it down a hill, it will get bigger and carry the momentum. but if you don't pack a lot of snow, it might roll a little bit, but then hit a rock or tree on the way down and end its journey. you can compare the packing of the snowball to a software's early non-open source development, and the rolling down the hill can be seen as being made open source with contributors joining the project. the jist: if you make a half finished software open source -> lack of contributors if you make a high quality software open source -> lots of contributes.

Unfortunately, Cycles isn't a high-end rendering engine and likely never will be. There's so much hype around it, but once you start using it, you'll hit limitations very quickly. The lighting and shaders are poorly developed, especially the shaders. Everything relies on tricks to make it look good. In my years of product design, I've yet to see a good-looking metal shader in Cycles or the soft lighting you get out of the box with other rendering engines like Redshift or Arnold.
