Hey Jeremy and Jillian. I'm the DGrubbs from the video! Now you can see why I donated and wanted you guys to see this one! 😂 Most people have similar reactions and are speechless the first time they see it (my jaw was on the floor myself and I have been a Kasey fan for decades). And it keeps getting better with repeated viewings. I believe it belongs up there with the greatest covers of all time! If you want to do more Kasey, I suggest her song Ain't No Little Girl the PBS Bluegrass Underground version. So a little background: Kasey is an incredibly successful solo country artist in Australia after growing up playing in the family band. Her dad still performs with her (that was him on the lap steel). She is the youngest person to ever be inducted into the Australian Recording artist Hall of Fame and has won 14 awards from them 9 for best country album. Her band is a mix of country/bluegrass but they can clearly rock hard. As for the cell phone thing, the song was professionally recorded but not filmed, so hence the call for the audience to send cell phone footage. Anyway thanks for taking my request, judging by the fact you already have 122 comments in a few hours, hopefully you will get tons of views, likes and subscribers off the back of this! At the very least, I sense you have some new fans in Australia.

I'll never come to terms with this insane version of Lose Yourself. This song is on repeat, I play it everyday on KZbin and Spotify, and yet, it doesn't have the views you would expect. idc because I get to spring this on unsuspecting souls. How haunting is her voice and, hold yourself, omg, how angry do you have to be, to leave it all on stage. So far, the best cover of any song ever, and you can throw in the classics, because this tops them all. btw the 2-letter abbreviation for Austria is AT;

Kasey presented this performance as her life in song - as a journey. It starts with the soft plead of uncertainty highlighting a lack of confidence. Then the mood all changed to a cry of anguish and determination. Finally, after all the hard work comes tremendous acclamation and success. She lost herself and left her soul on stage, laid bare and battered. What an unbelievable and brilliant deconstruction of Eminem's incredible artistry.

Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend (youngest person to be entered into the Australian Music Hall of Fame) who has been beloved but ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her brother is backing vocals and her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style. She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. She is now 45 years old and a mother of three. This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.

Kasey Chambers is an Australian treasure. She is known within the US Bluegrass, Alt Country and Americana scenes but she has never broken out into the US mainstream. Her structure to ‘ Lose Yourself’ reminds me of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven and The Who’s Behind Blue Eyes. Her performance reminds me of Janis Joplin singing Ball and Chain at Monterey

Kasey is a country-pop artist; she does not have a heavy southern "twang" because she's from Australia.
@WairoakidКүн бұрын
Another commentator on another reaction described it best. "Kasey has delivered it like the 3 part story it is. Background of despair and anguish of being stuck in a rut... The ramp up of conviction to do something about it... And then the climax of the battle and victory against his plight. After seeing this you wonder how it could ever have been done differently". Also the brilliance of Eminem's lyrics- the first two verses were (he/his....) and then when the final verse it is all (I ....). Kasey has lived that life.

Very good and important statement at the beginning about cellphone filming. So many people feel the need to capture absolutely everything today, while they forget to actually *experience* something, be *in the moment, enjoy it* . And besides that ... Most of these people film vertically ... which is stupid, since it never captures the whole stage. Vertical filming cuts off A LOT left and right. And yes, i know what Instagram and TikTok are. What Kasey Chambers did there with that iconic song was nothing short of phenomenal ! She took it, transformed it, made it her own in a completely different style, but still showed huge respect to the original songwriter. In my eyes and ears this is the BEST cover of ANY song i have EVER heard in my life of almost 56 years. She made a Monster of a performance !

Raw unadulterated Brilliance! I was totally blown away when I first “experienced” this Phenomenal performance, amazing arrangement & pure to the emotional interpretation of Em’s masterpiece - just legendary!! Em gave her his permission to release on Spotify, that says it all 👏👏👏 She is aged 46 at the time of this performance 2022. I’ve always been a fan of Kasey, she is a freakin amazing & talented musician, artist & woman. But this was next level genius & so personal for her. She has lived every second of this story. The performance wasn’t filmed, she put a post out after the show to fans present to please send in any footage, the compilation of which you see. The band killed it, matching & building with her energy brilliantly. Long time band member Brandon (I think 🤔) on guitar & the vocals that nurtured the momentum & her dad on slide guitar making it sing like a phoenix - all of them together made this one of the all time best live, for me a rebirth, not a cover, that I’ve ever heard, seen & felt….to my core. Around the time this came out for Eminem Kasey had a song "Not Pretty Enough" about her struggle as alt country to get airplay. You might like to try her "Ain't no Little Girl", either the music video or live. Kasey grew up with her family band but they were also rabbit and fox hunters on the Nullarbor Plain [think Arizona desert] and it was I suppose like the American Country singers who grew up hard and/or different like Dolly or Loretta. They come with emotions ready to lay out for the audience - and Kasey leaves it all on stage. Thanks for your thoughtful reviews.

I normally hate the sound of steel guitar in country and western music, but in a lot of moody Bluegrass it just sounds and feels so different. The lap steel here is played by Bill Chambers, Kasey's dad, and he makes it wail and moan like a fkn banshee. Years ago a friend showed me a vid she took at a studio session. it was about 10 minutes of Bill and Kasey just having fun, dueling lap steels, and it was mind blowing.

That was fire right? Kasey is from a musical family out of Australia. Kasey was in the family band until late 90s, when she went solo as a Country artist.

I would love to see you react to some Eminem songs. A couple to get you started would be …. Sing for the moment, Cleaning out my closet Castle and Arose. It’s two songs but must be listened to together in that order and listen to very end ❤❤

Yes it's a stunning cover. The video was indeed stitched from fan footage after Casey asked if anyone had filmed it.Eminem gave her permission to release it as he was impressed.

Australian country does not have a twang in it. It is more folk than the american version.

Mate, this performance would have been lost if there were no phones.

Yup, not lost on us that we wouldn't have seen this without the phones. Thankful for this performance, but in general, wish the majority would put down their phones. Not the people who need to record (e.g.: a medical condition which prevents remembering), or even capturing a brief portion of the performance...we realize there is a necessity in cases. Thanks for being here!
