One quick update, as of today, your documentation still has the incorrect tar command, which of course isn't an issue. Is there any way to install this without SSL? I cant set up SSL for other reasons (home hosted server with no static IP) and just want to be able to use with HTTP

Can't get sessions created going through the argotunnel like you show in your newer video with Kasm. Websockets seem to fail to connect. I'm using standard install of Kasm as you did here.

Question, you mentioned installing Kasm Workspaces on Ubuntu server VM on your Synology NAS. Is there a specific reason you didn't deploy the image directly with the Docker package on Synology? Trying to see if there's advantages to one method vs the other. Thx.

Honestly I did the VM because not everyone will have a Synology and doig it this way was more relatable. Not sure about the benefits of a direct Synology install.

Admittedly, I'm a complete noob, but I installed Ubuntu 20.04 in a Proxmox VM. I copied the commands, but am unable to load the KASM interface. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but any advice would be great. Nevermind--I think I got it. I had changed the port from 443 to 8443 and when I added that, I'm in.

noted how to change the port, what about using a specific IP on a specific interface? Some servers have multiple ip addresses or network interfaces and one might want to run kasm on a specific ip address... Thanks.

Many of the workspaces on the user page are greyed out. How can I enable them ? In admin if I look at the list of workspaces and enable them then I get errors when I try to run them.

How are the containers updated? What’s the root password in the container for the different versions of Linux? Chrome in Centos needs to be updated.

Hi Matthew. The images that are built into the release e.g. kasmweb/chrome:1.9.0 are frozen - so as you correctly noticed they are a few months old at this point. However, we also publish "rolling" tags as well that are built and published nightly e.g. kasmweb/chrome:1.9.0-rolling . From within the Workspaces admin UI you can change the images to use these rolling tags if you'd like. I also recommend you turn on Aggressive pruning under the Agents section. There is no root password. By default the containers run as an unprivileged user. If you want the user to have access to additional programs, we recommend you build a custom image with that software pre-installed. You can also choose the run the session containers as root. From the Ui. Admin->Images->Edit (next to the desired image) . Add the following entry into Docker Run Config Override: {"user": "root"}

I got an error message during installation of Kasm: "Not enough disk space for the installation - Please free up disk space or use -I to not preseed images". I've allocated 100GB of disk space for the VM.

I installed the workspace (ubuntu 21.10): and got 2 problems - a slow connection and no working sound on firefox. Anyone can help?

As far as a slow connection is concerned, that might be a lack of resources. How many cores/how much ram did you give the setup?

@@DBTechYT audio problem is fixed with the group settings. but i cant view a video with fluent audio: default image cores: 3 - default image memory (gb) 8192. do i have to change the guardian settings too? the server is locally hosted

also changing the streaming quality (high or low) will not solve the problem. youtube ads and any other video will habe horrible audio lag / cuts (to a degree to make it unwatchable)

As far as I know, there could be some issues on Ubuntu 21.X. I'd go for 20.04.

Unless you are getting a PI 4 with 8GB RAM, I don't think it would run well.

Don't download everything at the beginning. Do a basic install and then download the images you want later.

I understand that, but downloading all the images from the start is more than 300GB. So just do an install with NO images. Then, once you're up and running, download the images you want to deploy later.

When you're doing the intall, I believe there should be an option to select the images you want. Select NONE of them. At least that's how it was when I installed Kasm in Docker. I haven't touched this specific version since I made this video.

What are you talking about? This is running on Linux. It's only being accessed in a browser on Windows. Please don't comment if you dont know what you're talking about.
