There are many NGOs and other groups that you can donate to, for example, to help that woman pay her school fees and uniforms for her kids. You can find many on line and then research to make sure they are real and also see how much of the donated money gets to the people vs. management expenses.

I've never been to Uganda but I have been to other poor countries around the world. In my experience, poor people are the most hospitable and the most generous. My most dearest most valuable possessions I have are the little gifts people have given me along my journey. Little things like beads, shells or a small coin or carving. I spent a short time with a rickshaw runner, he gave me his bell. I was given a tiny bible written in Tamil. I can't read it but I treasure it just the same. I've given many tiny little things also such as a glass jar a family wanted after I finished the peanut butter. It's been decades ago but these "trinkets" adorn my desk and I always think of them. I'm pretty certain they all think of me the same way. Although we're separated by great distances we'll ALWAYS be connected. GREAT VIDEO... bless the people of Katanga, they are all beautiful... I very much would like to go there some day... I reeeeally miss all the little kids following me... Howie Scott

People with class, dignity, and willing and able to work that still have goals and dreams. You found the beauty there!
@glamacherrie3 жыл бұрын
There are two types of class: the system of ordering a society in which people are divided into sets based on perceived social or economic status. (some people in that category are really quite classless) And there is the class that denotes excellence. These people fit into the latter category . The thing that holds them up, that gives them beauty, is the love and support system that renews their self -respect and dignity. Take that away from them over and over again in any condition and you will see how quickly they degenerate and lose their sense of self; we should not make their lives romantic novels; their lives are not desirable. But as humans, their collective sense of dignity is admirable; if you strip them of that by your action, you will see that that lowest common denominator that is present in every human being will reveal itself.

Oh sure James, we are, regardless of our hardship & terrible surroundings.. That's Africa for you.. I wish our African elites will let go of greed & corruption, I sincerely believe that there will be great change in Africa.. As a Nurse, sometimes in 5months,salaries are not being paid but our government elites live in luxury.. They are our problem honestly.. Thanx for seeing the beauty in us, regardless.. stay safe

This reminds me of how South Korea looked when I lived there, in the 1960s and 1970s. This was an EXCELLENT, sensitively wrought film.

Thanks for the educational video. Humans can really endure much & show tenacity - these people are supposed to be ''poor'' - meaning they don't have lots of money, but look at the really nice food available, the smiles, energy, social life, hospitality - lots of positivity & vitality in spite of the quality of the surroundings (congestion, dirty water, uncollected garbage). Interesting contrasts!

One particular distinction about Ugandan slums is that they're mostly safe, but of course there will always be petty crimes and alcohol abuse. Most slums in many other countries are rife with violent crime.. Thanks Ryan

Even the young the young adults look hungry to do something, to be someone, and to live a comfortable life...bravo sir and thankyou for taking us into there lives. From there perspective with your camera and perhaps the color of your skin you represent "hope". They talk freely because they have nothing to loose, unlike us in the west. Beautiful healthy looking people.

Oh sure, we are hardworking but our government elites exploit us to sustain their greedy luxurious lives.. Our elites are the reason why Africa is a total mess.. As a Nurse, I know better.. Greed & corruption is the major reason we are in this shit hole...

Perfect done! I like the polite way you talk to them. I lived in another Slum at Salama road..It was one of my greatest experiences. Shy to talk about, but I learned more than in every elite school in Europe. My favorite persons are the five young ladies at the end . They are telling us why they don´t want to change. It is about helping each other, the food, the security, loving and caring... Thanks a lot
