Katatonia's new album 'City Burials' is OUT NOW.
Pre-order/ pre-save now katatoniaband....
City Burials is available on CD, deluxe mediabook CD with bonus tracks, black and coloured vinyl LPs with bonus track, and digitally
City Burials stands as Katatonia’s new triumph of deep & enigmatic progressive rock - the fruits of a rejuvenating and profound chapter in the band’s legacy; a catalyst for its creators, with a collection of moments constructed out of the fragments of an ever-evolving life. Compiled into one of their most important modern works and statements to date, the finely-honed instrumentation provides a multi-textured backdrop with the voice of Jonas Renkse guiding us through these latest trials of loss and ruin.
City Burials is an album that sees the band reclaim part of their heavy metal roots, via several moments of exuberant, old school classicism, deftly woven into these new songs’ kaleidoscopic fabric.

Another lyric from a Katatonia song had stuck with me after many familial deaths: “Sing a song for the ones who never made it.” The lyric here in Lacquer reminded me so much of that, “I’m just staying around to sing your song.” I feel as though everything I do is for them-for the ones who never made it. Awesome! Sounds like they're embracing the electronic sound they've had on some of their previous remixes and B-sides. A great side to Katatonia.

As a person who gets happier as Katatonia goes slower with less distortion guitars and drums etc, I'm having an eargasm right now. I've been checking KZbin and their website regularly in the last year to see if they finally dropped a new song. Finally it's here and it's fuckin brilliant. FUCKIN BRILLIANT.

This is so absolutely mental - it’s the most awesome dark and beautiful song ever written IMO .... I am straight as an arrow but damn ,Jonas’s vocals almost give me an eargasm- loving what I’m hearing and I’m so happy they are trying new sounds and formats !

1- the intro and the tune during the song makes me think of "the cry of mankind" 2- Jonas Renkse, you have been gifted with such a peculiar voice that if you just hiss it will still sound awesome yet on this vocally you really outdid yourself. The vocals were such a delight to my ear 3- but seriously guys, are your distortion pedals broken because I waited for that smack on my face during the song. I mean, I am not even one of those listeners who think the harder is the better. Anyways, will be looking forward to hear the rest 😊

yep, a powerful distortion at the end would have been perfect, but without it the emotion is still here, pure, naked and cold... in fact the song is perfect like that, no artificial power needed...

Long-time Katatonia fan, and recently got heavily into Sleep Token. I'm digging this for sure. It's different, sure, but Jonas is there and that's almost certainly enough for me. I'll reserve full judgment for when the album drops. But this one's going on a playlist once it's on Spotify in the meantime. Moody and atmospheric. I'm in.
