Namaskaram! Glad to see this! We are from trichy and chidambaram. My thatha was at natarajar kovil madapalli and he had an hotel at chidambaram. I have had this many times. My mom makes it by adding up deep fried and masicha chinna vengayam a variety sometimes. Yarum ippadi kadhe sollinde samaikarthukku illai.. sweet.

Thank you mami and Ganesh for another nice recipe and some hidden secrets of Chidambaram temple which I happened to visit by chance a couple of years ago. Our driver prompted us to visit and convinced us saying that the road condition was good. We were grateful to him for this. It was an unforgettable experience. I saw that large bell as well but did not know the story behind it till now. Thank you both and as always, best wishes to you and family.

Hope they ring the twin bells during this lock down time and the entire Chidambaram will be able to hear the omkaram due to the absence of traffic and noise. I am fortunate to have heard that beautiful ringing sound and the accompanying fabulous Deepa aarathanai (it is very different from any other temple I have seen in Tamil Nadu temples) in the evening time. I studied at Annamalai University for 4 years in the late 1980s. Wonderful town and can't forget the Kosthu (that's how it was pronounced when I was there) served in the Hostels vegetarian mess. After an unlimited supply of Dosai and kosthu, thayir sadham is always accompanied to fill up the remaining space in your tummy AU residential hostels are well known for their great food at least during my times.
