There were things that the Lord began to show me but I was literally sitting in a HRM congregation when the Holy Spirit revealed to me that they were exalting the torah above Yeshua that they were out of balance and that I did not need to go there anymore. The Lord showed me at home that day that all the bad i had seen come into the movement was not just bad coming in but that the foundation of the movement was cracked and faulty as it was built on torah instead of Jesus and the gospel. The next day I went to church as we sang about Jesus righteousness i realized I had subtly lost sight of the righteousness of Christ in the torah movement.

Thanks for having Kathryn on. I saw one of her videos about a month ago and was very moved by her openness around HRM. We continue to love and pray for our family members caught up in HRM and find that love and prayer are the best ways to deal with it. Just as the Holy Spirits convicted us as believers to receive Christ my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will convict those in HRM to open hearts and minds to what is was like when they came to know Christ. The more I learn about HRM I find they are like the church of Ephesus and have lost their first love, Jesus. We have to question anything that takes our eyes off of Jesus. I had watched "in the days of noah" 4 part series and being a former catholic it made so much sense to me about sabbath and the10 commandments. I thought how did I neglect that one. I started practicing sabbath sundown to sundown a couple months ago but something just wasn't sitting right with me. As I started digging in to the Bible to find the 10 commandments in the new covenant, I could not find them. What I found in the new testament was a beautiful teaching for the Jewish believers in Jesus...and THEN to the gentiles as Holy Spirit was just falling on them they were coming to FAITH just from hearing in Acts and the letter written in Acts 15 forwhatwouldbe well for the gentiles. I saw that life in Christ is about moving forward not returning to a yoke of slavery. I love how you always say "it's permitted but not required" Roman's 14:5-12. Also interesting in light of this interview & my growing understanding of so-called "Hebrew Roots" is that apparently Jesus has a problem with these type people all the way up to the very end: "I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars-I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you." ~ Revelation 3 : 9 This is, ironically, toward the church of Philadelphia. I’m a former Seventh Day Adventist, and they have many of these Hebrew Roots teachings, and Hebrew Roots groups within the larger church. The belief that Catholics are evil and changed the Sabbath; the diminished Jesus; the idea that other Christians have gone apostate; ‘have the testimony of Jesus and keep the commandments’-that’s right out of the Three Angels message of Adventism. If you’re coming out of Hebrew Roots, Former Adventist Fellowship could help. We understand where you’ve been as Adventism has many overlapping areas of belief. The protection against this is a good understanding of how to read the Bible. Verbally inspired where the words are there for a reason. The New Testament interprets the Old Testament because the New details the fulfillment of the shadows found in the Old Testament. And read the writings of the church fathers. It’s apparent in so many writings that Sunday was kept as the Lords day from very early on in the church. There’s lots of wisdom in meeting heresies found in these writings.

They have devoured lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in the midst of her. 26“Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the profane, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 27“Her princes within her are like wolves tearing the prey, by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to get dishonest gain. 28“Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,’ when the LORD has not spoken. 29“The people of the land have practiced oppression and committed robbery, and they have wronged the poor and needy and have oppressed the sojourner without justice. 30“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found fnno one. 31“Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,” declares the Lord GOD. What got me out of the hebrew roots movement was the heaviness and condemnation, and isolation i was feeling. I could not do it anymore, i dabbled into new age for like a month after i gave up Hebrew roots, and then came back to Jesus and Christianity. Also, some groups within this movement were saying that Jesus is the antichrist and his name equaled to the three 6s, which i had huge red flags raising up with that, could never accept that, they condemned the name Jesus actually. Dangerous stuff.
@Shoop8964 Жыл бұрын
Yes! I also heard people that said the same thing about the name Jesus claiming we have to call Him Yeshua or Yehushua, Yahshua…we couldn’t even agree on which Hebrew name to call Him. Then the argument that the name “God” is bad and we should call Him Yah instead but I’m pretty sure one reason God said, “I Am who I Am” was to counter this kind of thinking…also, some people claim that Yah is His real name and that we disrespect Him by not calling Him by His name. Well, I’d never call my earthly father by his name, that’d be disrespectful. So that argument never sat well with me.

@@Shoop8964 yeah it is stressful, then ya got the pagan police, who go and feel they got to correct you everytime you use a pagan word, and they are adamant about the English language being witch language but they use Hebrew as an incantation, and that is hypocrisy whether they know or willing to admit that is what they are partaking in. I’m not as much in contact with this local group here anymore, and the reason is more related to my asking questions of them. I it does sting a little bit, to feel alienated, but I honestly expected quite a few more of them stepping up and at least trying to provide answers. My experience was much like Kathryn’s in that I sense sincerity in most of my Hebrew roots friends here in my own state. I do get a lot out of these videos Rob, thank you! As I have leaned on the Lord and the Scriptures to do my own study, I’m finding sort of a common thread running through this group. Most of the members, from what I can see, do not end up there by way of evangelism. Including me! Many are just people who feel like there is something more out there for believers, and because it’s difficult to find a great church sometimes, this Hebrew roots group reaches out with some thing that seems exciting and tangible! Wow. The story about the friend who was so concerned with her Christmas decorations that she was willing to take anything down so as not to offend! THAT is love. I have experienced so much of that throughout our Hebrew Roots experience as well, but most recently in a conversation with my cousin. She likes to buy my children clothes as gifts, and she was asking about sizes and materials again, just to make sure. We have always only worn clothing of "one thread", so all cotton, or all linen etc... no blends. This made my kids tricky to shop for, but she was extra careful and always respectful of our beliefs. In the past couple of years our view of the command about garments of blended threads changed, so I told her she didn't have to worry about it as much now when shopping because we see it differently now. She said, "Really? Do you know how hard it was to find bridesmaid and flower girl dresses for y'all? The dresses I settled on were chosen not because they were what I liked, but because they were what y'all could wear." She had never even mentioned it until now, and it's years later. My heart broke. THAT'S love. That and all the times she and other loved ones have scheduled things around our sabbaths and our diets, etc. Her telling me that really opened my eyes to how gracious, loving and Christ like she and others have been towards us, and how difficult we have been.

I’m sorry this is longish... Yes, Jesus said “MY yoke is easy and MY burden is light”. Not screaming here, this comment just kinda clicked into place as to how burdensome the law of Moses is. When it was given to the Israelites, there weren’t a gozillion different fabrics to work through. Also as to feast days...we personally are physically unable to do the work and have no place to go. Concerning clean foods...we have no idea where our food comes from if we don’t grow/raise it ourselves and that isn’t possible for most people. I just cringe when I hear people say “do the best you can”. Would a loving God say that? Would He demand we do something that is not possible? God knew what the world was going to become and wrapped himself in flesh to deliver a new and better covenant. One that anyone can keep. The more I read the comments, the more that cements into my heart. I may repost this
@anonymom_ Жыл бұрын
@Gigi2four I agree. These things may seem obvious to those on the outside, and they are realizations that have been coming to me slowly over several years, but I've been in the movement for over 30 years, and in deep, so I'm just taking it slow and learning to let the Spirit teach me. While at our strictest point, we did realize the need to grow/raise our own food and never eat out (due to cross contamination) etc. We found ourselves more and more isolated from the world around us, but that just meant that we were more "set apart". I also cringe at "do the best you can". I really don't believe that YHWH gives commands we can't keep, and He's not an abusive tyrant demanding that we constantly prove our love and loyalty. His commands are about relationship. When I finally got to the point that I started asking myself whether I really believed that YHWH's intent for His people today is to recreate the ancient Israelite culture that is when my mind began to be able to really begin to think more critically issue by issue. I'm not in any hurry. There are many practices that I absolutely love that we learned in this movement, and I can't unsee the value in them, but I am learning to love them differently and not from a fear that if I don't "get it right" in performance or doctrine that I am "deceived" and "lost". I'm getting to know my Father and my Savior really for the first time as a loving God and realizing that my view of Him while in the HRM was actually very similar to how pagans viewed and feared their deities.

Could it possibly be that the reason it was so difficult is that the command wasn’t that you couldn’t blend any fabric, it is just wool and linen? When you add to commands, it does make them difficult. But can we be honest and say that we when believe that these commands are to difficult, we’re literally calling the Father a liar. This breaks my heart. It breaks my heart that people cannot see what they’re saying and doing. And they’re choosing to make others comfortable and make this life “easy” instead of picking up our cross and dying to our flesh. It’s heartbreaking that people think this is hard or bondage, when what’s truly the bondage is the additions to Torah AND our attitude behind obedience. I understand we all go a little too heavy, especially at first, because we’ve been sold this idea that love looks like making everyone happy. It’s a fine balance and a narrow way for a reason. But your friend was willing to do it because she loved you. Are we willing to do the commands (correctly!) because we love him? Because there IS a difference. And the spirit of this type person is peaceful and gentle and loving and kind. Just because some get it wrong, doesn’t make Torah wrong. This whole thing is heartbreaking and I feel sad for those who are saying the things they’re saying against the goodness of our Father and the works that His Son did, that were also prepared for us. Yah forgive them….

@@JeffSmith-it4tm The Bible in all the verses you listed had already prior established doctrine of what was considered food In no way are those versus telling you that it’s okay to eat those things Because the Bible never defined them as food for us. Please give examples of how you’ve been dooped? I’ll never understand why Christian’s don’t like it when other Christians want to follow Yahweh’s instructions for a blessed life, and give following Gods instructions the name “torahism” like it’s a bad thing to love God enough to want to please him. All throughout time man has messed up Gods simple instructions for their man made religions. It is true, the Catholic Church did change times and seasons in their own authority. They did away with anything Jewish even though the early believers were messianic Jews. It’s no secret that the Catholic Church did christianize many pagan statues, customs and temples. It was easier to convert pagans to Christianity if they could keep their traditions. Christian’s today do in fact follow the traditions brought down through the Catholic Church. Honest question, Why do Christian’s follow the traditions of man rather then Gods simple instructions? They replace Gods Holy days for man made holidays. They replace Saturday Sabbath for Sunday, even though there are absolutely no verses in scripture to justify this and Yahweh himself says they are a memorial throughout all generations. We also can see from scripture we will be keeping the feasts in the kingdom so it’s obvious they were never done away with. Are you pleased when your children follow your instructions? Why would it be any different for us, Gods children? Do you kick your children out of the family if they mess up? Absolutely not you love your children and show them grace. I am really looking forward to the kingdom when all of man’s messed up doctrines can be set straight! I don’t consider myself Hebrew roots, just a Christian doing my best to do bible things in bible ways. I want to please God with my try! I don’t believe anyone with this attitude will be kicked out of heaven because they tried to please God. There will be those however who he says depart from me I never knew you, those who practice lawlessness.

Hi, SRoshell! You may not be familiar with my work, but I teach and believe that we are all called to obey God's commands. And for those that choose to eat kosher, keep the feasts, and so on, I say go for it! I'm not opposed to people keeping those things. What I am opposed to is the false teaching that those things are _required_ of Christians. The insinuation that they add any amount of righteousness or somehow make us better in God's eyes is an insult to the sacrificial work of Jesus. The Bible teaches that the only way to be declared righteous in the eyes of our holy God is through faith in His Son (See Gal 2-4). Remember that not every command that God has given applies to every person at all times. Some of His commands were only given to certain people (ex. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses), or for certain times (ex. building an ark, gathering manna) and *we're each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us.* And the ceremonial Mosaic commands do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required.) “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6). Blessings, Rob

We need to keep in mind that Jesus says he did not come to do away with the law. 17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. What about this verse in Matthew? “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ This verse in Matthew seems a bit concerning, he is not talking to an unbeliever but someone who was prophesying and casting out demons in his name (seems like a spirit filled Christian) he says depart from me because of lawlessness. The 7th day sabbath was never done away with, it’s even one of the Ten Commandments and most Christian’s still ignore it. Also Gods Appointed Times (Feast days) were not just for the Jewish people but for all 12 tribes including the sojourners living among them. God says they are to be a memorial through all generations. We can see many verse in the New Testament of the disciples keeping the feasts! We can also see in scripture that we will be keeping the Feast of Tabernacles in the kingdom. If we were to strip away what has been handed down to us through religion and tradition and only follow the early biblical examples of what a Christian walk should look like, we should also be remembering the 7th day sabbath and memorializing Gods appointed times! God Bless, and thank you for the conversation!🙏🏻

I am so thankful that I came out of the HRM a number of years ago. I was deceived for years. I realize now that I didn't have a good base in knowing God's word which is one of the reasons I accepted it. I believe there is a strong spirit of deception and pride in people who become involved in this movement. God himself pulled me out of this deception and He so lovingly and graciously showed me that I had no real faith in Him. He showed me that my faith was based on my own "good works" and "torah obedience." The Bible says thtat "all of our good works are as filthy rags." My husband prayed so much for me for years and he loved me the entire time. Now I see that it is the heart God is after and has been after all along. I am so thankful for the new life I have in Jesus. He is my Great High Priest after the order of Melchizedek and NOT after the order of Levi. As the book of Hebrew explains where there is a CHANGE in priesthood there is a CHANGE in law. Melchizedek is the greater priest than Levi because Levi was in the loins of Abraham when he paid tithes to Melchizedek. Jesus is my blood covering. Once and for all. All of the scriptures pointed to Jesus and to his coming to earth from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible is telling one, big, unified story about the world's creation, fall and redemption. On the road to Emmaus Jesus opened up the scriptures to HIs followers starting with Moses and all the prophets. He is my Passover. He is the lamb. He came to tabernacle among us. Jesus is greater than Moses. He has been gathering His sheep throughout the ages to create a New kingdom and a new people where there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, but one new man in our Lord Jesus Christ. HIs kingdom is not of this world. It is a kingdom of love and freedom. It is a freedom from sin. When the transformation happens we desire to go and tell others about Him as He commanded us to. For Christ came to set captives free and to destroy the work of the evil one.

We were knee-deep in HR for years and the only good thing that came out of it was recognizing themes. This is especially useful today when prophecy is playing out and you see this with themes. But the very first thing I looked at that caused me to question them was whether the Torah portions were scriptural. (which they're not) This caused me to look at everything and found that HR puts Yeshua on the back burner, the laws of Moses were the forefront without the Holy Spirit. Surface stuff devoid of the spiritual meaning. Same with modern Christianity btw. I still eat clean and cover my head but for different reasons.

If the Hebrew roots are correct then God failed in several those areas. Like some believe that Paul the apostle was a false apostle, if that were true that would be huge and that means God did not preserve his Word. I've got gaps in my knowledge as well probably the size of the Grand canyon. 😊

I am a part of the fellowship that Kathryn discusses in this video. A few points for clarification: 1. We never questioned scripture itself, rather, we tested doctrine and theology AGAINST scripture, not the converse. Shouldn't we use scripture as the plumbline? Isn't that being a Berean? The Bereans took all Paul said and tested it against scripture. We were doing the same. You don't shoot an arrow and then paint the target around it. There is one standard, and it's His. 2. We know the difference between Torah and Talmud. We know the difference between true relationship with our Messiah vs. the doctrines of men. We have looked at things that look Jewish, because some of those things are actually "Godish." We are not trying to be Jewish. We are trying to be obedient, if some of that intersects with Jewish practices, then so be it-much of our lives also intersects with the faith-walk of our Christian brothers and sisters. We are not looking to the law for salvation as the Jews do. The law offers no justification. He loves us lavishly and his mercy and grace causes us to want to walk in obedience to Him as a response, not as a means to earn anything. 3. A story is a personal narrative (and perspective) of an experience and as a shared experience, of which this is, I can assure you my perception of this experience differs considerably. I appreciate the respectful way in which you inquired of Kathryn's experience, and I appreciate the overall tone she delivered regarding each of us as individuals. I do not appreciate misrepresentation, however. I don't believe this misrepresentation is intentional, however. Pursuing a walk of obedience and seeing the interconnectedness of scripture and the layers of depth, beauty, and meaning that interconnectedness offers, has enriched my walk tremendously. The Old Testament all pointed to Messiah. He was there all along. For instance, as one example, the feasts all point to Him and are relevant spiritually, historically, and prophetically-it's incredible and they are clearly given to us for a reason- as evidence of a pattern-this is not just trying to connect something arbitrarily. Nor is their connection merely coincidence-it was intentionally done that way to point to our Messiah. Why wouldn't you want to celebrate them as remembrances of what He has done and what He is yet to do? The whole Bible points to the story of a redeemed people, by a loving God, who always makes a way for an undeserving people. When you accept that, why wouldn't you want to do what He says, and do what He did, albeit imperfectly. Walking in His commands is not burdensome, but life giving. It is not "you should" or "you have to," it's "why wouldn't you want to?!" when His ways are holy, just and good. "I have hidden my word in your heart that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11

Thanks for sharing that, T. In response to your points: 1. Amen 2. Amen 3. I understand that your personal experience differs and I respect that. You said, "Pursuing a walk of obedience and seeing the interconnectedness of scripture and the layers of depth, beauty, and meaning that interconnectedness offers, has enriched my walk tremendously." I love that! The better I understand the Torah, the more enriched my walk is as well. If you don't mind, let me ask you a question. Do you believe that followers of Jesus who choose not to eat kosher or observe Torah feasts or keep the Saturday Sabbath are walking in sin and disobedience? Shalom, Rob

I too am a part of the community that Kathryn spoke of in this video. And I think my sister T very eloquently presented what our group lives by and believes... faith through Messiah AND obedience (because of our Messiah's free gift of grace) (Rev 12:17). I will let T speak for herself but my response to your question would be it doesn't matter what I think or believe, it only matters what does Scripture say. Our foundation should always be, "It is written." That is how our Messiah answered and that should be our answer. It is not in our authority to judge anyone. We are only called to know them by their fruit, that will tell us what tree they are rooted in. And this simply helps us better discern who we allow to be the iron that sharpens us in our faith. Thank you for giving us a chance to clarify our beliefs.
@tbishop8462 Жыл бұрын
@@TheBiblicalRoots Thank you for your gracious response. I would refer you to scripture where in Philippians 2:12 we are told to walk out our salvation with fear and trembling. I don't determine or define what sin is, He does. My thoughts on your question is to approach it like a little child: I trust Him. He tells me what to do and I obey. I sometimes argue, disregard his wise instruction, or don't understand why He has told me to do something so delay my response, but again, I trust Him. When I fall short, I ask forgiveness and turn back toward Him. When I don't understand Him, I ask Him, I read His instruction, and ultimately (hopefully) decide that walking as He has instructed me brings glory to Him and life to me. I feel like most things draw me near to Him OR away from Him. I don't believe there is a lot of neutrality when it comes to the things of God. He seems to present things as one way or the other-You're either for me or against me; life or death, blessing or curse, etc. and in a world that has offered us all shades of gray, it makes sense that His pattern would be different, and more distinct. His ways are intended to keep me on the narrow path and are good for me. For me, if I know He has commanded something, I want to obey it. I trust Him to work out all the details in the end, but I know this is what I am called to, and I believe this describes the process of sanctification. So I think we must define sin and you can only do that by seeing what scripture says sin is, What is disobedience? Again, I go back to scripture and if He says to do something that I am capable of doing, then I want to do it. If a health guru tells someone not to eat pork, no one questions it, but if God does and you choose to obey, you're called legalistic. How about instead, I approach it from the perspective of I just have a feeling He knows more about it than I do, so I'm going to defer to Him, even if it doesn't seem to make sense. Is it a salvation issue? No, I don't believe so. But your question can then potentially spiral into a multitude of other questions, because bestiality and a host of other sins are only mentioned in the Old Testament, so are they then permissible? This is obviously hyperbole, but I don't think we get to cherry pick what commands we agree with. It's like my analogy in my first response-we don't shoot the arrow and then paint the bullseye to match our perspective. I honestly don't think about whether other people are sinning or not, but instead focus my attention on my own walk. I am only responsible for my response to Him and to His Word. I do have concerns about people being lead astray by the grace abuse you mentioned in your video. It's a real concern. I will rely on the entirety of scripture and will not allow my theology to be shaped by the opinions of men. "If you love me you will keep my commands," is enough for me (though there are countless more expressing the same sentiment). Let us not reject His word, it truly is a firm foundation-the only sure one. Lord help us hear it and obey it. (Matt: 7:24-27)
@TheBiblicalRoots Жыл бұрын
@@tbishop8462 Well said, T. I don’t think we get to cherry-pick what commands we agree with, either. Obedience is God’s love language, and thus, disobedience is sin. And it’s important to remember that not every command God has given applies to every person at all times. Some of His commands were only given to certain people (ex., Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses) or for certain times (ex., building an ark, gathering manna). We’re each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. And the ceremonial Mosaic commands do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required.) “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6). I also want to mention that no one can hold a theology that is entirely free from the influence of “the opinions of men.” (Especially if they’re reading an English translation of the Bible since every translation contains the translators’ opinions.) And I would argue that it’s unwise to even try. If we sat alone on a deserted island and decided what we thought Scripture was saying, we would be just as likely to get it wrong as right. Especially if we don’t know the original languages and have no knowledge of the historical or cultural settings in which the books were written. Scripture is intended to be consumed, understood, and interpreted in community with other believers. (Notice in Acts 17 that there was more than one Berean! :-) I agree with you 100% that we are each responsible for digging into the Word and trying to understand it for ourselves. But to flatly reject other people’s opinions as wrong is to turn our back on a great deal of Godly wisdom. I’m not suggesting we roll over and believe everything we hear. We need to be discerning! But we must also be humble enough to acknowledge that God can and does use others to bring valuable insights about His Word. In fact, teaching is a gift of the Holy Spirit. “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” (Rom 12:3-8) And BTW, interpreting Scripture in community is the best antidote for heresy. Because at some point, someone will stand up and say, “Hey, I’m not sure that’s right.” And then we can all go to Scripture to test it. If it’s just me on an island deciding what the text means, no one’s there to tell me when I missed something. Blessings, Rob

@@TheBiblicalRoots Yes, a better way to put it would have been that I will reject any doctrine or theology that doesn't align with scripture. I understand that most people probably feel that way as well, but unless as you said, you have the historical context, understand to whom He was speaking, and have understanding of the original language and relevant cultural idioms and norms, then it would be difficult to form a complete view of scripture. I would say by and large, most Christians do not approach scripture with that level of investigation. I think it is so important and people can't rely on others to teach them, but must seek scripture out. We don't live in isolation. I am so thankful I have such a beautiful community of believers to fellowship with inside and outside of our Little Church. I am still in a community of people who don't all believe just as I do. I am in the only one in my family that walks out my faith this way, and yet we have respect for one another. We still attend a local church on Sundays occasionally. My children attend a youth group at that same church, as well as sit with us on Saturdays as we pour over scripture. I do listen to the teaching of others now, but I had years of that and I need to separate what I had been taught versus what is written. And we absolutely dialogue about what text means and ask questions or raise concern or disagreement, but it is done with respect. We are meant for community and I am grateful for all of the lovely people in my life.

@@JustOneStitch This is why we Gentiles were NEVER admonished to keep these feast. All of these feast days were ONLY shadows of the real, Jesus Christ. Why do we need to stay in the shadow now that the real is here. It can only be a slippery slope to lead us back into the legalism of the law. These law keepers were the same men who gave Jesus the most problems during his ministry and their eyes were blinded to the Holy Messiah who walked and performed miracles right in their presence daily. You see why HRM hates Paul and tries to discredit his epistles. He exposes this false teaching at its core! Galatians 3:1-14 kjv 1. O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2. This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3. Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4. Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. 5. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 6. Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. 10. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 4:5 -11 kjv 5. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. 8. Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10. Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

Loved that interview, you could tell Katheryn had a genuine pursuit for the truth, can't blame her for doing what she thought was serving God correctly, but glad God pulled her away from that group. Ultimately, I share the same concerns, I noticed a lot of the torah groups I followed started to question the trinity, church history, and some (ChristianTruthers Channel) even went as far as denying the apostle Paul and then ultimately denied Jesus. While some more "tame" groups exist out there, make no mistake this can be a very dangerous community that leads you down a slippery slope. This is one woman's experience with "Torah" people who clearly have no idea how to walk in Torah. The entire point of the Torah is to learn how to love YHWH and our fellow man, exhibiting the fruit of the spirit. I'm sure, professor, that your title "Torahist" will not be lost on those of us who have experienced the immature and unrighteous "Torah Terrorist". However, this is all moot until you can prove, with scripture, that Yeshua, His disciples, and Paul did not keep the instructions given in the OT. My personal experience is that pursuing Torah is life and heart-changing. One of the biggest problems within the Torah community is learning in small groups without a teacher. The Apostle Paul emphasizes this need throughout his letters, being trained to teach, and James is clear that people should NOT teach unless they are rooted and grounded. Yeshua is absolutely at the center of being Torah pursuant. He is our perfect model of what it means to keep the Torah.

There are people who also have gone through the opposite. People who were ridiculed and ostracized by their churches and families for daring to say that they think we should keep God's commands. In my case, I didn't try to force anyone into doing what I was doing. If asked, I would explain. I have had sermons preached about me and my immediate family. I have been called names. It's odd when someone calls you a cultist, then wonders why you separate yourself from them. Or says you are a heretic, then takes offence if we say the worldly holidays have pagan origins/rituals and are sometimes a counterfeit to God's Holy Days. Every denomination of every religion has people that go to an extreme. People that cast out Yeshua or Paul are on one far extreme and do not make up the majority of people trying to be obedient. I'm not saying it's right, but it could be the persecution that people do to them in the name of Jesus that drives them away from Him. I will never reject Yeshua as my God and Messiah, but I honestly can see why people would struggle with it if they do not want to be outcast by the people claiming to love them. I personally do not mind being the outcast because I know what I have witnessed. I do not believe the things that I believe because of any fleshly teacher. I searched the scriptures, and turned to God for understanding. I will not tell anyone that they have to do anything, because we all have a choice to make. But by doing what I do, and giving account of what I have read in the Word; many are offended. I try to keep all of God's laws that apply to me (the ones that I can keep without making up my own laws to accomplish them). This doesn't justify ANY of my sin. It doesn't balance out sin versus obedience. It doesn't cover my sin. It doesn't take away my sin. I will be found guilty when I stand before the Almighty. Praise God that He laid down His innocent life for someone as unworthy as me. However, this does not remove the duty of obedience to my Creator. In fact, I think it intensifies that duty. How many times does Paul say stuff like "now live unto righteousness"? Romans 6:9-13 [9]Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. [10]For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [11]Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. [12]Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. [13]Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Then people treat this next verse as if it flips the script of what Paul just said. Romans 6:14 [14]For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. But then ignore what he says next. Romans 6:15-16 [15]What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. [16]Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Paul says stuff like this alot. The gist of what Paul is saying when he talks about not being saved by the law is exactly that. No amount of doing good can undo your own sin. What's done is done, and there are consequences. Jesus took the brunt of your punishment upon Himself while being totally innocent and because of that, you are offered freedom from the second death. Do not take His sacrifice for you lightly. Don't squander His mercy to remove your sin by loving sin more than you love Him. Paul is not telling anyone to forsake any of God's laws. He did what was asked of him to prove that he wasn't telling anyone to disregard "the law of Moses".

I agree completely @aprodigalsonreturned. What you outlined as your experience is how the Lord instructed me to walk in His ways-once I sought out scripture in a way I never had before, and separated what I had always been taught by man vs. what His word actually said, then I was held accountable for what HE lays out in scripture and I can't ignore it. I will live it out and give an account, and I trust the same holy spirit that removed the veil from eyes, will do the same for others as He wills, and it is not my place to tell anyone they have to do anything because that is between them and the Lord. The scriptures you reference are good witnesses, but there are even many, many more if people would take it upon themselves to read His whole word for themselves. Never have I been more certain of the continuity of God's character, more certain of his redeeming love, and the truth and harmony of His word than I am now. I used to have a mental wall between the Old Testament and the New, but you CANNOT understand the New Testament without a deep, full understanding of the Old Testament. It is faith then obedience and always has been (were the Israelites not saved and then later given the law? Did Moses not believe and then build the ark...this pattern {faith>>>obedience} is there from beginning to end), and obedience to our Father's commands, not some religious traditions of man-whether they look "Jewish" or "Christian"-but rather do they look "Godish?" I want to be about the Father's business, not the doctrines of {insert any Christian denomination.} This is what Paul spoke out against-legalism, which highlights the incorrect heart posture of obeying "for" salvation, as opposed to obeying, because you are undone by the lavish love of our Father and our Messiah. He never speaks against the Torah (instruction) of God. Rather he affirms as Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:26-27 state, that this new covenant is not WHAT is written, but WHERE it's written and that we will be given a spirit of obedience SO THAT we will walk in obedience to HIS ways (not manmade religion.) If people would seek out scripture to see what he calls us to. In this journey there have certainly been questions to wrestle with as I have had to untangle His truth from what I have held onto as truth, which when examined in the light of scripture, didn't add up. But the questions themselves are not red flags-it's where you go to seek out truth and what defines truth (His word is truth-John 17:17, Psalm 119:160), that can be the red flag if and when it is anything other than His word. It makes sense that a good king would not leave you grasping for straws and allow chaos to flourish in a kingdom with no clear directives. For example, love as a mandate, if not defined by Him, can lead to dangerous places, and it isn't what you or I say it means, it's what He says it means. He defines love for Him as obedience, and if He commands you to love others (which He does) then of course loving others is obeying (and loving) Him. His commands are holy, just, and good (Romans 7:12), everlasting (Matt. 5:17, Psalm 119:89-176) , to be written on our hearts and put in our minds (Hebrews 10:28-29, Jer. 31, Ezek 36), are righteousness (Psalm 119:172), bring blessing (119:1), give those who obey access to the tree of life (Rev. 22:14) and just in Psalm 19 today I was reading and was reminded also that his law (is): Perfect trustworthy right brings joy to the heart clear give insight to life true fair more desirable than gold sweeter than honey a warning to those that hear them there is great reward for obeying them One Psalm told me all that, and there are many verses that serve as witnesses affirming all of this and more. We are not justified by the law, but we are sanctified by it. Why wouldn't we want to walk in what He has commanded us when He so mercifully, and lovingly poured out His life for us? I trust Him and I will obey because He loves me and I want to love Him well. I am currently experiencing a similar persecution that you describe, as are some close to me. We are being ridiculed and some in our fellowship have even been ostracized because of their commitment to walk out their faith in obedience to God's commandments. My friends didn't close any doors to relationships because of their differences; they didn't demand their friends believe this way; they didn't tell them they were going to hell because they celebrate Christmas or don't observe the Sabbath, but those who ridicule them have chosen to separate themselves, because when my friends are asked about their faith, they are then seen as judgmental for simply daring to say they think we should follow God's commands. It's a real head scratcher that the persecution would come from inside the body, rather than from those outside. Why would anyone defend lawlessness. My charge to anyone would be to seek out scriptures for yourself. Turn off the commentaries. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you and be a Berean and seek answers in the Word of God alone, and make no apologies for obeying what is says. Live for an audience of one - a worker who has no need to be ashamed (2 Tim. 2:15). As one of my sons said, "If God says to do it (or don't do it), why wouldn't we?" I agree son, I agree.

My husband, my children and I were saved because of a Baptist church bus ministry who came into the military housing area we lived in inviting people to church. Good baptist peachers do tie salvation message into every sermon, but the bulk of the messages are what does the Bible say and how to walk the Bible talk. So I’m not sure what kind of church doesn’t preach cleaning up your life. Every epistle is about getting rid of sin, killing the old man, not returning to our mud pit or eating our own vomit, purging out the old leaven, being separate, not being unequally yoked with unbelievers, giving food drink and clothing to those in need, being icing epistles, faith without works being dead, guarding our tounge, not gossiping, not being a busybody, running the race with patience and endurance. , striving for the high prize, not trampling under foot the blood of Jesus, keeping our garments white, being holy because we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are making ourselves ready for our groom because HIS return is eminent. And we are HIS bride. The seventh day congregation I belonged to before I had to move taught these things as well as the sabbaths of G-D. In baptist read the Bible thru every year and so do Torah keepers. Every Christian is saved by the Jewish King Washed in the Jewish blood Grafted into the Jewish vine redeemed by the Jewish Messiah, guarded by the Jewish Shepherd, part of the Commonwealth of Israel, (eph2:) Called by the G-D of the Jews, Ect. It’s good you got out of that bad Church because anyone who says Jesus is an idol instead of our savior and KING is a spirit of antichrist not because you shouldn’t want to be doing more to be closer to your G-D. Gentles aren’t saved out of paganism so they can stay pagans. . They’re saved out of paganism so that they can be with G-D of the Jews forever. A gentiles dna will never change to Jewish dna but he still required to do the Jewish walk if he belongs to the Jewish G-D. Did Jonah go to ninavah to tell them to repent and then to keep on in their sins no . Did Isaiah preach your sins, are Scarlet. Repent and I will make them as white as snow and then you can go sin again no. Everyone has to make their own choices and walk their walk, but your guide is supposed to be scripture and not the traditions of men. Not missing a holiday from when you were Child wishing for a toy and a dinner There are plenty of children don’t get toys and dinners for Christmas. It’s just a holiday to make them feel unloved. It’s not the messiahs birthday and bowing down in front of trees is not part of holy worship. We all need to read our bibles. And quit believing others. The kjv is written at the 9th grade level and so any high school graduatie should be able to read and comprehend it. Or so says the literacy council of America Go reread acts 15. James the brother of the messiah decides that letters will be written to the new gentile converts. The letter contains a few main points, dietary laws, fornication laws, idolatry laws, and they finish with the administration to go to synagogues every Sabbath in their cities, and learn all the laws of Moses, not some of the laws and gentile laws, but all the laws of Moses, which really is the laws of G-d, because G-d wrote those laws, with HIS finger twice in stone, after HE spoke them to the MIXED multitude at Sinai NOT just the Hebrews. ONE law for all G-D’s people, not just Hebrews.

My dear, if we could keep God's commandments, then why would Jesus need to come and die for our transgressions? Yes, you may think you are doing well, compared to others, because you follow rules. But do you follow *all* the Torah laws? Are you separating during menstruation? Do you keep kosher? And even if you would be able to follow all Torah laws without stumbling, Jesus goes on to talk about our *secret sins* , our *thought life* and *our desires* . Can you really honestly say that you are blameless in your thoughtlife as well? Never lusting, never envying, never getting angry? Again, if you boast in "keeping the commandments", then why did Jesus have to die for us?

@RLSolberg - Thank you Prof. Solberg for your dedication and important work in bringing the truth regarding Torahism to light and Biblically explaining its heresy. Great interview with Kathryn whose KZbin channel I also highly recommend. I share below an open letter I wrote in two parts after God humbled me and saved me from the grips and bewitchment of the Torah movement. I also share my testimony video below the letter. Blessings to you Prof. Solberg Regarding the dangers of the Hebrew Roots/Torah Observant/Messianic movement. Part 1 An attack that has infected the Christian church from the inside is the Hebrew Roots/Torah Observant/Messianic movement. As individual groups they will identify themselves as Hebrews or Israelites and will deny that they are a part of a specific group, or will deny that they are Hebrew Roots, but at the core they all have one thing in common, and that is an adherence and unhealthy reverence for Torah, which becomes their idol. Don’t be fooled by any Torah ministry. They are all the same and equally dangerous to the body of Christ teaching heresy and a false gospel. Read and watch all of the countless testimonies of Christians delivered from HR/TO/Messianic congregations and see the similarities. When I was a part of the movement from 2018 to 2021, I mistakenly believed that Torah Observance could be a bridge to take the Gospel to the Jews, and to bring the hyper grace Christians to the fullness of God’s Word. I was wrong and I repent to anyone I led astray while in Torah Observant ministry and I ask your forgiveness. I was supposed to know better as a lifelong Christian. I always naively thought that common sense would prevail within the Torah community, but alas it only became more extreme. I was a part of Philia Ministries and I denounce every teaching and ministry I promoted and recommended while I was an active participant. Forgive me. The Fellowship I attended in the U.S. online and in person labelled themselves first as Torah Observant and then as Messianic. They always claimed they were not part of the Hebrew Roots movement, but all of their ways and teachings coincided with Hebrew Roots. At the end of my post and in the comments below is my testimony video of how God delivered me from this disastrous movement and cult. I don’t want to see one more Christian being bewitched by this apostasy that is spreading like an out of control and destructive wildfire. There is so much confusion, discord, pride, competition, arguing over trivial matters such as calendar dates, and Christian Church bashing within the Torah Observant/Hebrew Roots/Messianic movements, with zero organization nor any accountability. Any person can present himself or herself as a teacher. There is condemnation there against 2000 years of Christianity which is just hypocritical. There are excellent Bible scholars like Prof. Rob Solberg who go in-depth to rebuke the doctrinal errors within the Torah community. I want to expand on some of the less talked about and spiritual dangers I experienced and encountered. While Christians are being accused of pagan traditions by these Torah movements, have any within the Torah community asked themselves of all the actual Babylonian pagan traditions and rituals they blindly follow? All the Feasts observed today have pagan influences that are just blindly accepted because it’s “Jewish”. The wave offering of the etrog and lulav during Tabernacles to the four “species”. The casting of bread in a river or stream to forgive sins during Trumpets. The lighting of candles at the start of the Sabbath Day to conjure up the “divine feminine”. None of these traditions and rituals are Biblical but have verifiable pagan origins. Don’t take my word for it, read what the largest Jewish sources online (Chabad.org and MyJewishLearning.com) have to say about it, and how these traditions and rituals that are being taught in Fellowships around the world are in fact Kabbalah and Jewish Mysticism straight out of Babylon. That puts “Mystery Babylon” from the Book of Revelation in a whole different light. All of this has serious spiritual dangers. Kabbalah is outright occultism, witchcraft, and the worshipping of false “gods”. How do you think God is going to look upon those who claimed to observe His Feasts, yet they incorporate rituals and traditions which are truly abhorrent to Him? Names of idols such as Shekinah, and Metatron are praised in Fellowships. The names and teachings of Jesus denying “Rabbis” and “Sages” are held in higher regard than those of upright scholars and preachers from past and present. You will hear the name Rambam/Maimonides who was the 12th century Jewish philosopher, Muslim sympathizer, and main physician to the Muslim king Saladin more than you will hear of Charles Spurgeon, A.W. Tozer, J.C. Ryle, Leonard Ravenhill, C.S. Lewis, and the list goes on. (End of Part 1) (Part 2 continues in my reply to this comment.) My testimony video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGfEhKl4f6xsqcU

Regarding the dangers of the Hebrew Roots/Torah Observant/Messianic movement. Part 2 The Talmud is incorporated into sermons in various ways, and in some cases even the Zohar and Mishnah. To most in the Torah community only the Hebrew names are acceptable to pronounce. Even the word “Church” is to be disregarded for “Synagogue” or “Shul”. Christianity is mocked openly as "churchianity". Even with names there are those who argue over “correct” Hebrew pronunciations, as if a wrong pronunciation would be a sin, and somehow the English language and the letter “J” is demonic in some way. There is no understanding of languages, linguistics and how it develops over time. Many don’t even want to utter the name of Jesus or call themselves Christians. It’s madness. The Torah scroll itself becomes an idol and is elevated above Christ. The focus on Torah makes the followers focused on the flesh and makes them self-righteous. Church going Christians are looked down upon as lawless, which is insanity and untrue. Christians are left to feel as if they could never be good enough, or worse yet, that they will be least in the Kingdom of Heaven, or not there at all. Is it then any surprise when some Christians react to the Torah community in an antagonistic way? No, not at all, because Christianity which has stood for two millennia is under attack from all corners of life, including from within. To all the non-Jews within the Messianic community, you will always be looked upon as Goyim by the Jews, as they don’t agree with being grafted in alongside Gentiles. In their minds, only they remain the elect. Torah observance/Hebrew Roots/Messianic, or whatever name they identify with is always speaking about aiming for the target, yet they are completely missing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ask yourselves, what is seriously wrong with a movement who starts out with what I believe are pure intentions to love God and serve Him because of love for Him, yet how many get to the point of rejecting Paul’s writings, the Biblical Trinity and deity of Jesus Christ, or abandon Him altogether? There is too much error to turn a blind eye anymore. One example of absolute heresy is the notion that Christians would still be obligated to offer sacrifices if there was a temple in Jerusalem. Really? That is the ultimate denial of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and how we are bought by His precious blood once and for all. In other words, many within the TO/HRM/Messianic movements would offer sacrifices to a false “god” for the sake of Torah and therefore denying Jesus Christ. It’s no wonder that God allowed the Temple to be destroyed in 70 A.D. Christians do uphold the Law, the Law of Christ, under a new covenant sealed by His spotless blood and given to us freely by His grace and His sacrifice for all, and every born-again Christian will attest to that. There is a change in everything they do, that can only be inspired by the Holy Spirit. It’s a Law written on our hearts to do that which is good and pure, not because we’re told so, but we are led by God’s Holy Spirit which indwells us as His temple, and according to His Word and the new covenant in Jesus Christ. Those in Hebrew Roots saying that "Jesus is the living Torah" is a false statement and it is not found in the Bible. The false belief that Jesus is the living Torah (law of Moses) starts with the deliberate interchanging and misunderstanding of words found in John 1:1-5 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” When Hebrew Roots replace the “Word” with “Torah” they diminish the deity of Jesus, elevate Torah’s position, and completely deny the Biblical Trinity, along with changing John’s statement at the start of his Gospel. “Word” and “Torah” are two completely different concepts and bear no resembling meaning when applied in the correct context. It’s just one of a multitude of examples of how the Bible text is mishandled by HR to substantiate their beliefs, rather than reading and understanding the text as it was written and meant to be understood. It’s reckless abandonment of common sense that ignores exegesis and hermeneutics. John substantiates the fact in his epistle that Jesus is the Living Word (Word of life) who existed from the beginning. 1 John 1:1-5 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life- the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us- that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” Now if one is to again replace “Word” with “Torah” then one comes up with a distortion of Scripture. There are numerous statements that just get repeated by HR, one being “Jesus is the living Torah” that become part of their belief system without any Scriptural evidence or reference. If it gets repeated enough or taught enough, then it must be true is the attitude within HR. Torah itself becomes an idol that rejects the finished work on the cross by Jesus Christ. I was also deceived to believe this lie before God humbled and delivered me. Jesus is greater than the law of Moses and His Law is written on our hearts and not on stone. How many sins that come from the heart are not mentioned in the Torah that Christians follow devotionally? The Law of Christ convicts us, and we know what sin is without it being delivered to us. We know it when we see it. We are in the new and better covenant. Jesus came to fulfil the Law and to institute a new Covenant. It's becoming more evident that the Hebrew Roots/Torah Observant movements have much in common with heretical cults such as Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, and Mormons. There is a lack of love and a prideful belief of exceptionalism, falsely believing that they are the end times elect, when in fact it’s a dangerous cult that misleads, deceives and corrupts. That is alarming. In summary, Jesus is not the Torah/Law. Jesus is God, who manifested in the flesh to save us. The God we serve existed before anything that was created. The Bible is clear about the Trinity. There are three distinct persons. The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Together they are the one true living God.

I have a question that may be answered by either or both of you: I hear alot about HRM, and my parents have been drawn in. But there is a component that I rarely hear about thay they are also using since some of the teachers online they follow teach it: Jewish Mysticism (Kabbalah etc). I've read, listened, informed myself on this matter, yet it is very rare to see it addressed from a theological perspective. How can we bring up this subject with love? I have tried in the past and I get shut down quite quickly. We live in a bigenerational home, but we are considering parting because I don't want my children to get confused with different messages about the faith. I am not a member of a Hebrew Roots movement, but I am someone who believes the whole Bible and I choose to pursue a life of obedience because I love God, and as a response to His great love for me. I am so grateful for His lavish, incomprehensible love. I think the danger is when people choose to follow the doctrines of men (whether that is the Talmud, Kabbalah, the doctrines of the Baptists or Methodists or Catholicism and so on), rather than following the Word of God. When I came to see scripture this way I had no outside influence. I didn't want to watch or listen to anyone else until I had a FIRM foundation in the word. I wouldn't even use my study Bible. I said, "God, I want to know you and what you have to say, alone. Please send the Holy Spirit to be my guide and I trusted His word when it said in Jeremiah 31:34 that no longer shall each one teach his neighbor...for they shall all know me..." And He did. There was grief and sorrow over having turned my faith over to the hands of men, some of whom probably never read the entire word (statistically speaking there is a large number of pastors who have not read the entire Bible). I am responsible for reading His word and must not rely on others to interpret it for me, and I can't blame others when I arrive at false conclusions because I haven't done my due diligence and been like the Bereans. I would encourage you to seek out scripture and ask them to tell you where it is written-to whatever claims they are making-and then you offer the same to whatever claims or positions you are supporting. "It is written" should be the standard when seeking truth. But you must read in context (if it's a letter-read the whole letter-remember there were no chapters so often you need to read what came before and follows for clear context), reconcile any apparent discrepancies, allow the Bible to define itself (look for the first time that word in question is used in scripture and study the original language and other uses), determine where allegory and other figurative language is at play or whether scripture is literal...etc. Ask for understanding and clarification before making assumptions and remember they are trying to please the Lord, as are you, so both of you should have a heart of tenderness toward one another as you are aware of this common goal. I hope that helps.

I am grateful that you did this interview Rob. It is interesting that I saw Kathryn's video first and than your found your channel. Both of you made some very good points in this interview. I have posted comments on both of your channels and have gone back and forth with you both. I am also grateful that both of you realize the HRM is not a monolitic faith. Their views are all over the place. I have been around this movement for over 15 years now. I have seen teachings that reject Paul and his letters. I have seen people, not unlike Kathryn, just fed up with this hyper grace, so they begin searching out the Hebrew Roots of the Christian faith and start studying Torah, then Judaism, and then leave Christ altogether. Hearing Kathryn's story for the first time broke my heart as I realized quickly that there was a big misconception of law and grace. A big part of the problem of the HRM is many do not understand there is a change to the laws under the New Covenant and that it is a NEW Covenant. It is not a renewed covenant! I think that both of you would agree, the studying of the Hebrew Roots of Christianity, in and of itself is not a bad thing. In fact, you can learn some truths there and Rob you even attested to that in this video. The real problems begin when the things you learn become an obsession. Many in this movement are obessed with finding out more and more. The continue to seek knowledge and not in a good way. They begin to be puffed up by the new things they are learning. It is usually at this point that they begin to see Christians as completely lawless pagans and that they can no longer even learn anything from them. They will no longer even associate themselves with Christianity and only refer to Jesus by His Hebrew name. The chasm becomes so large. I still hold that Christianity could learn some things from this movement. First and foremost Christ MUST come first. No amount of obedience does you any good without Him. We are not saved through law keeping and there are changes in the law, out of necessity, with the change of the priesthood. We should not hold to the entirety of the Mosaic law because with the change of the priesthood things have changed! The Levitical system is no longer, the temple services, and the sacrificial system have been fulfilled in Christ. He is now our high priest in the order of Melchizedek and is a far superior priesthood. It is the 10 commandments that are a part of BOTH covenants and even with those there is a change but it is with location. In the first covenant they are written on stone, which represented the hearts of the people. In the New Covenant God is putting them in our minds and writing them on our hearts. By writing them on our hearts, we obey out of love. God has always wanted obedience but out of love for Him. It was disobedience that got us into this mess in the first place. There are some Christians that go too far and teach that the law has been done away with completely. I think this is the problem that Kathryn first recognized. The purpose of the law is to show you what sin is. 1 John 3:4 tells us that sin is the transgression of the law. Paul tells us that the law is holy, just and good. Ps. 19:7 tells us that the law of God is perfect, converting the soul. Something perfect cannot be done away with and will not convert anyone if it has been done away with. The problem is and always has been our fallen natures. In this fallen state our minds are at enmity against God because it is not subect to God's law, nor indeed can it be. So, God did something about the problem. He wrapped His word in flesh and dwelt among us. His word walked out the righteous requirements of the law, not so we don't have to, but as an example to us. The enemy thought he won when he put Him to death but the grave could not hold Him. Why? Because the enemy put a righteous man to death. The wages of sin is death and since He was without sin, the grave could not hold Him. It literally HAD to release Him!! Now, He puts His Spirit in us and that Spirit will lead you into all truth. The biblical definition of sin is found in Ps. 119: 142 & 151 where we find that God's law and commandments are truth! Now it is His Spirit that begins to change me from one who did not want to obey to one who wants to obey! Not for my salvation, but as the evidence of the faith I put in Christ! He gets all the credit and all the honor!! I cannot boast in obedience because it is Him that is causing me to desire this! God fixes the problem, which is my fallen state, not His righteous laws! It is this obedience that testifies I have accepted Christ as it is Him who is changing me. Now I learn to walk out this righeous behavior. 1 john 3:7 tells us we practice righteousness! We will not always get it right and this is where grace comes in! Grace is only given to those who walk in obedience according to Ps. 103:17 & 18. You don't need grace if you are not going to walk in obedience! In this fallen state, you cannot walk out perfect obedience. And if you attempt to try, it is an effort in futility. Why? Because if you are going to walk out the law in this fallen state, you would have to walk it out perfectly. At some point, you will fail and the very thing you tried to walk out, now condemns you to death. This is why we NEED Christ! The law is merciless! This is the weakness of the law that Paul talks about and this is why he states that the letter of the law kills. The law only tells you what sin is but it is powerless to make anyone obey it. Now we are represented in Christ and no longer Adam. Christ changes our desires! My mind is no longer at enmity against God and His law. This is why we need His blood covering that not only atones for our sin, it takes away our sin! Law and grace go together, they are not mutually exclusive from one another. There is much to learn on both sides. Kathryn, thank you for sharing your story. Rob, thank you for posting this inverview. One day I hope to have a conversation with you Rob!! Blessings in Christ, Ray

Please add me and my Wife to your prayers. I am literally in tears hearing your testimony. My Wife has been following this movement now for some time. I blame myself because I was not the spiritual leader in my home. I feel so betrayed because it seems like her beliefs snuck in like a serpent. I remember one day I went to the grocery store Friday before sunset to get some steaks to grill. While cooking the steaks the sun went down and my Wife would not eat the steak I cooked for her. This was when I started to realize something was off. Anyway please pray for us.

Truly I don't grasp the logic. This is how I see it. I see the Bible message of redemption from sin and death we deserved as our penalty for breaking God's instructions but it is deeper than that. I see Christ teachings that the Law is good & spiritual as does Paul but of itself is insufficient to change human nature. I see in Christ the Law has purpose and is still necessary after we receive Christ like Rom 3:31 and so many more scriptures. My position is the Law NEVER saved us anyways but was instruction for intimacy with God & why it is placed in the softened heart in the New Covenant. God wants us to draw near. My impression is that most are confusing Judaism with the Torah and Prophets and Writings. Judaism didn't grasp some of scripture but it also has a lot of understanding that Christianity is totally ignorant of. Christ often banged heads with Judaism. He was murdered for that. The righteous standard of God is used correctly to convict us of sinning against God & also as a Teacher against sin increasing. I have no clue why people are upset that God makes us a peculiar people when we become the one new man but instead are willing to take on all sorts of doctrines that make God's Word of none effect. Things not spoken by God to us. How can that broad & confused way restore our image in Righteous Ways? Especially things that God calls sin.? Both Jew and Gentile are grafted into the Commonwealth of Israel. The New Covenant is expressly given to the Judah and Israel so we gentiles are getting grafted into the True Root that taught Israel but was rejected by them as they fornicated with other gods to commit many sins. God tore off those disobedient to death limbs that refused the path of repentance. No one wants a dead thing attached to them. Ughh Jews had an advantage because they knew God's Law but also a disadvantage that cut them off originally. That disadvantage was forgetting & misapplying God's instructions by adding their own instructions & simply like us breaking the Law but thinking being Jewish was the Covenant done and dusted.Sin was dealt with in the Torah but not arrogance to be unrepentant. David's sin... It was pure mercy to be forgiven of Adultery and Murder just as we are forgiven, there was no sacrifice for those sins at the Temple. David knew His God and his Adonai that was at the right hand of the Father & kept hope. Genuinely I think that the church has been so lost and in the end of the end days we have preachers that are transgender and all that because we chucked out the Righteousness of God in denying the instructions that give life to those whose transgressions are forgiven. IF we sin after that on our journey to grow in Christ we still have Christ who is faithful & true to forgive us & wash us of all transgression when we repent of doing them. Presently though there seems little difference to pagans with a false version of Christ & the Man of Lawlessness leading many denominations. Sure, I agree, knowledge can puff up without love but isn't it unloving to resist the wisdom of God being written on your heart by God and letting other things be written there? Isaiah 66 shows what worship we will be doing when the New Heavens and Earth Come. Same as the early assemblies did historically, before the ravenous wolves from amongst the assemblies started preaching falsehood. Paul warned us about them and writes of a battle with one who would not allow the believers to receive Paul & was trying to shut down the communications by expelling those who wanted to. I just pray for the knowledge of God and His Salvation to be known by all men. Blessings to All.

Why would a woman who celebrated Christmas feel the need to apologize for her Christmas decorations!?! A meeting between two people one who celebrates Christmas and one who doesn't, that should recepfully be a non-issue. There's no need for one person to apologize and get in there feels about it. People can do as they see fit. I don't understand why that was a big deal, should of been a non-issue on both sides.

I agree! Unfortunately, many who hold to Torahism (aka Hebrew Roots) believe that Christmas is a pagan holiday and therefore Christmas decorations are offensive. RLS

@@TheBiblicalRoots I think apologizing for something you don't need to apologize is not good either. Neither person should apologize or be offended.

We experienced about 9 months of the HRM and everything went well until the 9Th month. I have done apologetics for years on Creation vs Evolutionism. I told the man who was acting as a Rabbi (but said he wasn't one)? Anyway I told him we got kicked out (left foot of fellowship I call it) of several Christian congregations for teaching Creation. I told him about it and he said "Thanks for not giving up & coming here." So...at the 9Th month I was able to give my teaching. I mean I was basically teaching from the Torah right? Evidently, the board & one guy in particular & the guy standing in as Rabbi did not think so. I was told if I wanted to do any more teaching, I would have to do it at the local community center. That meant only I and my wife would be the ones at the community center. Without any fanfare, we left the HRM. The only reason we started going to to HRM was a "friend" encouraged us, yet she only came there on just a few Sabbath's. So much for following the Law. I'll say this much for this HRM...they had the Law down pat, but love was sorely missing. My wife reminded this "friend" of 2 things. 1. She seldom came for Sabbath. She basically brushed it off. 2. How we were treated. She said we have to forgive them. We did forgive them but why go where you are not welcome?? Also my wife pressed her until she got an answer and asked her "Will we go to Hell for eating pork?" She said yes.

Jhn 5:46 For if you were believing Moses, you would believe Me-because he wrote about Me. Jhn 5:47 But since you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” Mat 23:1 Then Yeshua spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, Mat 23:2 saying, “The Torah scholars and Pharisees sit on the seat of Moses. Mat 23:3 So whatever they tell you, do and observe. But don’t do what they do; for what they say, they do not do. Act 15:19 Therefore, I judge not to trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God- Act 15:20 but to write to them to abstain from the contamination of idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what is strangled, and from blood. Act 15:21 For Moses from ancient generations has had in every city those who proclaim him, since he is read in all the synagogues every Shabbat.” Jhn 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 1Jn 2:3 Now we know that we have come to know Him by this-if we keep His commandments. 1Jn 2:4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1Jn 2:5 But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God is truly made perfect. We know that we are in Him by this- 1Jn 2:6 whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked. The New Commandment 1Jn 2:7 Loved ones, I am not writing a new commandment for you, but an old commandment-one you had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word you have heard. Rom 8:7 For the mindset of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it does not submit itself to the law of God-for it cannot. Rom 8:8 So those who are in the flesh cannot please God. It has always been the Spirit vs the carnal / flesh Shalom

I don’t see it as an objection to obeying the Torah of God. I do see it as an objection that the nations had to become Jews to receive God’s salvation.
