Katherine's Mandarin is immaculate , easily understood without the heavy accent of some of the regional native Chinese speakers. The smooth conversation with the handicraft store woman and sales lady is such a joy to listen to and I wouldn't be able to tell one party is non Chinese if this isn't a video blog. Looks like there isn't any need for her partner to learn English to appreciate each other.

What a wonderful video! Litang is just an amazing city. First of all because it is located at 4000 m above sea level and because there are many streets markets with their stalls full of awesome handmade items, besides the local shops and cafes scattered around the city...It is a place worth visiting and all these items are very nice as they represent the fantastic tradition of this people. Thank you for this beautiful video which shows us the beauty of this city.

Thanks so much for satisfying my curiosity BIG TIME about the open markets, the brick and mortar stores as well as the vegetable and fruit day markets. Very impressed by the high standards of construction in the upper level stores and products as well which indicates a very good economy in that region as compared to what I have seen from Dalian, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong. The camera work has been outstanding as usual. Happy travels to you and Wei!!

I visited Litang exactly 30 years ago. Obviously, a lot has changed, except of course the altitude. You were doing well not to succumb to it. At 4000 metres I felt back then like the age I am now! I I remember it being pretty wild back then too, with riders on horeseback coming into town dragging bloody yak skins. But overall it still looks like a good adventure.

@Keay95272 жыл бұрын
"singing bowl"???
@Earthman999992 жыл бұрын
@@Keay9527 Yeah. The Tibetan singing bowl is basically an inverted bell. You use the wooden mallet to rub against the rim of the bowl in a continuous circular motion to produce a relaxing vibrating ringing sound. It is traditionally used for meditation purposes. It takes a little practice to make the sound. It looks cool to display in the house and demonstrate to guests.

Quite topical for us this week. Our Saturday market (last Saturday) had a Li Ethnic minority show and a lot of stalls selling traditional Li crafts. You will both be too young to remember but seasonal fruit and vegetables is something I certainly do. Tropical fruits were also unheard of in my childhood, (except for the bit I spent in SIngapore of course!) When I see the HUGE furniture I always wonder where it's used, most apartments are far too small to accomodate it. Something else we always used as children was a teapot. Nowadays everyone uses tea bags. Oh I do like the old days.... Nice video, as always, saw more of Wei this time!
