If you feel like you need a trailer you might as well just get a car my dude. Better packing and kit is gonna be the best option. It's hard to say where you can save space without seeing your gear but I've found that looking for equipment aimed at hikers is a good way to get light, compact kit, like my airbed now has a built in hand pump and folds down to be the size of a VHS. I'd recommend a roll-top bag for your main kit, because you can really squish stuff down into it (BikerBits on here has some great one-bag camping setups), and see if you can get a tankbag that will stick around or over that dashboard panel on the tank - that'd give you some extra storage and help bring the bike's centre of gravity forward. You could even fit an engine crash cage or highway bars and chuck a couple of little pouches on those for small items, it all helps (will get warm though ofc).

Hey Spectre, Definitely need to improve the way we pack it is just quite hard having 2 people as well as camping. We already have mostly lightweight backpacking gear just a few bits we need to upgrade. I follow Bikerbits to and he has some great ideas i do have large duffle bags and i used to use them but i prefer to try and keep everything on or in my panniers rather than out back of the bike. Definitely need to get a tank bag for sure and good idea for crash bar bags. We are planning on a 6 - 7 week trip on this bike in a few years time so that is what made us think of a trailer as everything i have seen about them there doesn't really seem to be any downsides apart from the looks of them and you wouldn't be compromising on any comforts that way. We are going to be working on our packing and trying out a few different ways on smaller trips though see how we go. When we used to go camping the bikes i used to own had hard panniers either side around 25 litres a side and i used to run a 45 litre top box for all the camping gear so space never used to be an issue. Trying to avoid having massive bags on this bike as the look of the bike is a big appeal for us.

@@MOTODANS It was great! Weather was absolute shite though, 4400 kms and a sore ass but would do it again in a heart beat, was actually thinking of you two, I kept seeing dudes on cruisers with their Mrs on the back, seems most two up riding is done on the bigger cruiser style bikes, trying to tell myself i don't need one and can make the DR work lol.

Awesome! Sounds like a good trip shame about the weather though. When are you going to try the Dr 2 up? 2 up on the meanstreak is just effortless can't even tell Danni is on the back 😎
@ckenealy84 жыл бұрын
@@MOTODANS How did Danni like the mean-streak as a pillion? My partner flies into NZ this month so hopefully get out for some camping early Feb. The Dr was pretty much full with just myself and my gear but we were gone for 18 days so maybe I can get everything we need on for an over night or two trip.. just have to trail it and see I guess! Looks like you guys had a great time! Really trying to convince myself I don't need a second bike but i kind of want a mean streak too 🤣

She loves it. We have fitted s new seat since this trip as original one was pretty poor. Completely changed the ride for both Danni and myself. Awesome keep me informed how you guys get on!

Nothing more disappointing than expecting someone to come back with beer and they don't 😢. I can't say I've seen anyone exit a tent in pajamas...cracked me up😂😂.
