Nice video, Chad! I think the software is solid and works well. For practical use, you could try tying a small string to the drone to keep it connected to you, and attaching a small floaty to make it fearless over open water. Additionally, consider spraying some waterproof protection on the drone to make it more water-resistant. Let’s go!

Well done, my friend. I've waited until significant bugfix updates to the firmware have been released. I have both a HoverAir X1 and X1 Smart, for land footage and DJI minis for GPS controlled, safe, over-water footage, using DJI ActiveTrack. Good to see you're enjoying your TRAK 2.0 after the long wait. I really need to add a red Akiak paddle myself.

I didn't use the Akiak for a while as I have the Ipik and the Kalleq. It was so nice using the Akiak again.. I missed it! I am sure you'll like it too!

there are a million different sounds in this world, but the sound of a drone is, well.......... do they have one with pontoons yet for kayaking that isn't too big ?

Haha the buzzing is definitely annoying. It’s like a big bee following you around 😂 I hope DJI makes one that is waterproof!

Chad, the back and forth movement I think is that it somehow tracks your paddle. For landing on you hand, have you tried it without your black gloves? I naked palm might do the trick. Cool that you are testing this. I have not tried my own drone for a long time but you tests are giving me inspiration.

Ooo.. I didn’t think about the black gloves!! I have to test it out next time. I think you’re right that it tracks the paddle. Please take some drone videos of you kayaking!

Thanks. I upgraded from X1 to the Pro specifically to use while SUPing. I could not get it to track me in Dolly mode -worked a little better in Follow mode. Landing did not work at all. I ended up having to grab it out of the air. It was a bit windy (~10mph) so I will try again in calmer weather. Thanks for your video review!

Nice review and I can see this as helpful for my coaching, but without being waterproof and floating, too much risk of things going wrong, especially to capture content off-shore. I keep hoping though!

These mini UAV's are interesting in their potential but as per Jonas I do wonder about the dependability in a water situation. Very cool tool for you to create interest for your viewers. My Akiak arrived yesterday. The Trak is spendy but ingeniously designed. It owes much to now defunct Feathercraft & Folbot.

I had a feeling at the end you were about to reach for it and then tip up which wouldn't have been great for you but would have looked great on camera lol 😂 Sorry Great video my friend 👍 you could always just use your phone to bring it down as close to the cockpit as you can then grab it that may work.

Haha it’s been very cold so I haven’t done any rolling :) the DJI Neo stayed on me when I was rolling. Will test it out when it gets warmer
