I’m not English but in my family we make savoury pie for supper once a week; hasn’t changed since my children were little and now they crave it… sometimes we do a lattice top layer but mostly we do a Quiche variety.

Quiche is big with my wife, grown boys aren't fans. This week was feta, spinach, mushroom & garlic! Cheers!

That looks wonderful. - Definitely going to try one! I've had a weakness for pies ever since I worked as a roundsman for Woodheads of Scarborough back in the mid-seventies. The freshly jellied pork pies were always the last thing out of the bakehouse, and I quickly mastered the art of driving with one hand while I ate my still-hot pie with the other. Great days!

You can loosen the corer section on your peeler/cutter and slide it away so that you can just peel the potatoes.

Fidget might be a good name for the apple 'spiralizer.' Good fun but too much fidgetting unless you are doing a load of apples or spuds I think. The pie looks good, Keef. I do like your videos. Real cooking. Showing the blips that we all have in real life cooking. Keep em coming.

I don't have any apples, but I have a pig that's eaten nothing but apples, last 3 months, will that work?

Keef, you're a star: trying the mechanical vegetable peeler/spiralizer so we don't have to! However, definitely tempted to try the recipe - your championing of hot water pastry must also be applauded.

I would say lose that peeler and enjoy potatoes with the skin on. We love them that way also in mash. Fun video, not sure the extra liquid of the cider was necessary except for being a brew from the region. As Julia Child would have said, " a glass for me" . Awesome Keef. And I have to add that yourself, myself and a couple other top chiefs on here are lefties.!!

The only time I enjoy spuds with the skin on is new potatoes and baked potatoes / loaded skins.

Nice to see you again, Keef. I'm the guy who suggested Koenigsberger Klopse years ago. Your pie looks tasty--but why didn't "Mrs. Keef Cooks" come to share it with you at the end? Would the inside have been less liquid if you'd cut a ventilator hole in the lid? All the best.

I think that pies have to have a crust all around the filling. Even though I can't have apples, that pie looks great. A pretty neat spiralizer. Cheers, Keef!✌️

Looks delicious Keith as always. I like that you have a go and it doesn't matter if it doesn't look perfect. By the way it does look great especially the water crust pastry - just the best pastry in the world. Hope Mrs Keef is ok? Haven't seen her lately taste testing. Look forward to some Christmas recipes - possibly how to do different ways with Brussel sprouts with bacon/pancetta.

Common Sense seems to be in pretty short supply, certainly within the last couple of generations. One can only hope it comes back into fashion. Love the spud lathe.

Well, I thought your ask was brilliant! First thing A PIE! And my oldest always likes stuffing at this time of year. I may be messing around with some kind of bird & stuffing bake but, again, what a great request!
