Warning. I purchased the Keen Targhee lll 10 weeks ago and wore them for 8 weeks. This is what happened to the boot. They're a disaster waiting to happen on your feet.

Wow, that looks shocking Mark! Times are too hard these days to be throwing money down the pan. Is the retailer nearby? Usually a good place to start, even if they can just put you in touch with Keen's UK office or something!

Hi mark my husband uses Dewalt work boots for hiking and has for many years now, there not expensive under fifty pounds last for years easy to clean just wash with water and they come up just like brand new again , they are steel toecaps but there not to heavy, there extremely well made, he buys the tan colour one's waterproof as well, no VAT on them if I remember right as it can't be changed on safety gear.

Mark thanks for the info about these boots, they were a big let-down and by the looks of it they're not fit for purpose, another 2 months of walking and they'd likely fall apart. I'll be staying well clear of this brand. I think the first port of call should be the retailer, if they're any good they'll give you your money back and take the issue up with the makers themselves, then if no help there contact the makers and in doing so mention your video here. If they care about their reputation in any way their response should be swift and positive. Personally I'd want the money back and not a replacement pair from them. I've had a similar let down with a pair of karrimore boots that claimed to be waterproof, they let water in on the first day after walking over wet grass. I took them back 2 days later to the retailer, they were reluctant to give me the money back, I stood my ground and got my money back in the end, but their attitude was awful, so I'll not be giving them my custom again, the same goes for karrimor too, though I've had good boots from them many years ago, but times and companies change as do the reliability of their products. Please let us know the outcome of your dealings with the retailer or brand company, atb Roo.

Now Karrimor I've had a decent experience with. I was wearing a pair of leather ones out the other day and they're over 8 years old. I still dub them and they're good for local walks. I'm glad you did this video mark.ive had a pair of keen boots a few years ago and they were awful(I forget the model) but my wife has two pairs if the sandals and likes em.obviously the waterproof material is below par but the shoe itself is sound,unfortunately not what you want for walking boots

I've heard a few bad words about the longevity of this brand over the years. Sorry to hear of your own experience, Mark. It isn't good enough. But trusting you've used a reputable supplier, they'll be happy to offer a refund. They may even want to say 'FFS, not another pair of Keen boots!'. Whatever resolution comes of this, I wish you well with your future boots.

That’s terrible, Mark. Indeed very poor. I wonder if it’s been sitting in a warehouse near a radiator or constant heat source?! 9 weeks is pretty pathetic. The retailer should replace them even though it’s not their fault. Nothing worse than wet feet when hiking! Peace.

Hi there Mark🥾 I tend to go with cheap hiking sneakers , and replace them often. I can get three or four pairs of cheap ones for the price of one "good" pair . Light weight is important on the hills. I wouldn't be surprised if Keen made it right for you, It can't hurt to ask.👍

Oh, it's terrible when you buy hiking boots in the hope that they will serve you for years and then they fall apart in a few months. Hi mark the same thing happened to mine they just cracked after 3 months i threw them out the best keen boots i had were the bryce,i just bought the keen circadia from amazon £55 they are very wide fit which suits me lets see how long they last.

That’s dreadful Mark. These are expensive boots. And falling apart so quickly. Crazy. Anything over maybe £70 should be very good and very durable. But these are double that!! I fell in love with Mammut by chance many years back and I got hooked. Disappeared from our shelves for a bit but picked up a pair recently A bit pricy, but sometimes it’s sort of what you’re used to isn’t it. Hope you can get them sorted mate

Hey Mark that is not good. They look like a great boot, good style and I like the two-tone brown. But no way with the cracking so soon! I wear my boots really hard and it's usually the tread that simply wears out, not the uppers. And I can't see how you could have mis-used them at all, the cracks appear just where they flex, so normal use. Thanks for the heads up on this. Maybe the manufacturer had an off-batch of materials. Hi Mark , try a pair of merrel moab,s they have gortex liner, vibram soles and i can vouch for the waterproof quality , you should pick up a pair for well under £100 if you hunt around

The Italians have quite narrow feet it seems even though they do make excellent boots. Clinging on to my last pair of Scarpas that have given up trying to contain my feet, but will have to buy something soon. Best wishes Al

Hi Mark. That`s disgraceful mate, nine weeks?? It`s not like you bought them down the Local Market, or Maybe that might not have been a bad idea after looking at those. I hope there was some sort of Guarantee that came with them that allows you to get some form of recompense. A lot of these company`s advertise these type of products knowing that the vast majority of people will never use them for the purpose that is being stated. They may be Great for going down the Local for a Pint with a pair of Jeans but when used as stated, they will fail in a heartbeat. Best wishes to you my friend 👍👍🙏

I told you it was a simple few outings in grass meadow actually. The leather and boot just cracked up. It was a fault in the material for sure. That should not have happened. I got my money back.

Let’s see how “keen” they are to get back to you if you have made a complaint, Mark. You should be refunded and don’t accept a credit note. Why would you want a credit note to accept more failure? #notfitforpurpose

I had a similar experience with Gelert a few years ago, bought from the shop near where the Exchange pub was in Hereford, their closing down sale had loads of 'bargains'. the so called leather uppers split after a few winter walks, it was just a very thin leather coating and synthetic stuff underneath but I was led to believe it was all leather. Those were cheap, cost about £40 but I'd be fuming if I paid £100 and they failed after a few weeks, shockingly poor.
