Makes a major difference. I managed to break my ball speed record doing this on my simulator. 147mph and a 262-yard drive with 242 yards carry (so close to my next goal of 150mph!) Not super long of course, but I was previously maxing out at 235 yards total on a good hit and also push slicing a lot. The key seems to be practising keeping the head back AND making sure the lower half is transferring weight. Practising this tip has resulted in a few pull hooks because I don't get the lower half moving and the hands outrace the body. But, when it's done right it's a 10-15mph increase for me in ball speed - that's20-30 yards AND the dispersion is MUCH less severe. Head and torso forward is definitely the major reason for slicing.

Alex, wow another explanation of a simple drill to hit the driver longer and straighter with more speed and power. Can’t wait to try this at the range before I go and play with my group next week. Awesome as always. Thanks for the great tips and drills my friend. I carry two alignment sticks with me in my bag to the range and also while playing a round…love there many many uses. Here you just gave another use

Question: I know I need to hit " down " on my irons, but should I be trying to keep my head back during those swings too....thank

Great drill again. You wrote it does work with a 3-wood as well but what can I expect with a 3- or 4-hybrid on a tee peg?

@@AlexElliottGolf Watched your video extensively 3 times yesterday, went to play 9 holes and was bombing them 10-15 yards further. I was having an issue with hooks because I was staying too far back on it. Following the lower is so instrumental to power and distance. Thank you and love your content so much! I'm so thankful for it!
