Dude, I love Nancy Wilson. She is so, so, so wholesome and sweet and then there’s Doug, who is such a real man and defends her and takes care of her. ❤️🥰

Now I’ve got you guys drastically beat, on the record of ‘getting out of bed’ swats. My son has gone 20++ rounds with me. And done it for 8 months straight before beginning to relent. This child is so bullheaded. Our household is on the stricter side with obedience too! He just constantly goes for disobedience in every little thing he can think of. And this started at about his 4th bday. He’s 5 now. But before then, he was so sooo promptly obedient, and joyful about it. Now he just pushes back constantly. I haven’t known what to do, other then to persist. To simply outlast him. And I always do, without an excuse. But it’s exhausting. For nearly everything to be a battle, is just a lot. And I constantly look for ways to fill his love cup too, to balance it out, so I don’t think I’m lacking there. But holy hanna I wish this attitude would let up a bit.

@Anthony Hurtado Sometimes a little, but honestly not usually. Here recently there’s been some improvement, and him submitting a bit more. A lot less at bedtime, but I don’t know if that’s just because I’ve been leveraging taking away his new sleeping bag, if he disobeys. So things have improved a bit with me doing that. :-/

@@jaquirox6579 funny I saw you on Mike winger's channel. My oldest kid went through the same thing at 4 and 5 but mellowed out at 6. Now my twin 4 year olds are going through a rebellious stage.

@@brandonwheaton1081 haha Well hello brother! It’s funny, because my son suddenly stopped the bedtime rebellion. For the most part it’s gone now. And I didn’t do anything different, I just persisted with the house rules and expectations. Holy hanna was that a long season of late nights!! It’s nice to hear another parent say they have gone through the same thing. Everyone else has just been acting like my son is the only kid doing this. And I just thought well I guess I have an extra strong willed child place in my hands by God! Thank u for commenting friend.

@@jaquirox6579 That's good to hear. I think age 4 is the worst, from my experience that is.

@@brandonwheaton1081 I think I would agree! 🤭 Ot was early into 5 when he finally stopped! And nearly all of his 4th year, which he just suddenly decided to disobey on all fronts. It was crazy! And exhausting. It made me really wish I had some kind of family to help lend a hand sometimes, just so I could get an hour off duty. But I’m thankful it seems to really be passing now. I’ve noticed a much higher level of awareness in my son now. And he’s actually anticipating punishments, when he knows he has disobeyed, or sassed. And that’s progress!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

“Getting close to the line that is drawn”. My brother did this a lot. I remember clearly when that happened, our momma would look at him and say “ole boy. You are cruising for a bruising”. Lol she meant it and he knew it. So he would back away farther from the line. And the reason he knew she meant it, was because he tested her. Once. I learned that what ever you threaten your children with for punishment, you have to be willing to carry it out. Or, all your threats in the world will mean nothing to them.

Luuuuuv the example of how Luke handled the tantrum! Present. Safe. Non bending. Letting it have its fill course until its over. Just the two of them, away from everyone else.

45 minutes?! Sorry that is bad parenting. It's take off your costume. If she didn't it's a swat in 10 seconds or less.

I love my sons, but one of the things I tell them when they try to put my wife's feet to the fire is, "I love mom more than you. Don't mess with mom!". 😆

Sorry, allowing a temper tantrum run for 45 minutes is a total failure. Temper tantrums should run for 45 seconds or less. Doug you are the best. I really appreciate you. But you need to pull Luke aside and tell him he is failing his daughter.
