When someone says "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", remember, they're not doing it because of political correctness. They do it out of respect. Because from the 20th of November to January 24th, there's at least 14 different religious holidays. So, when someone says Happy Holidays to you, thank them. Because they don't know what you believe in. It's called respect. Not a war on Christmas.

Sorry it’s Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah. There wouldn’t be Christmas break, always centered around Christmas Day, from schools or many companies if it wasn’t for Christmas. You do you and I’ll very proudly say Merry Christmas

We won't be celebrating Xmas with gifts this year but I will always celebrate Christmas. Even though we don't have the money for gifts this year, my kids understand and we will do it later when we can afford it. I am so blessed to have thoughtful children. The true meaning is celebrating the birth of Christ ❤🎉 and I am so grateful for him every single day.

One and the same of course. I’m sure you are going to point that out. Χριστός is the Greek spelling of Christ. X is used as the symbol of Christ. Though our culture largely doesn’t know that.
@geab.2182
@geab.2182 Ай бұрын
I've only learnt that recently, that X comes from the Greek letter X, which means "Chi" or the first letter from the Greek word for Christ... I think it's not really common knowledge...

I fully understand and accept Jer's explanation of X as the Greek for Messiah. But I also remember back in the late 1950s to early 1960s, Merry Xmas was definitely put forth as a secular way to be inclusive during the holiday season. Truth told, it was written more than it was actually spoken. The first time I encountered it was on a bulletin board at my public school. I had to ask my mom what it meant. This was about the time that prayer was made illegal in public school. So many Christians at the time rejected the use of Xmas. It would be a hard sell to get Christians of my generation to accept Xmas, but the more you share this alternate meaning of X, folks of your generation will probably be more accepting. Merry Christmas!

I’m so happy to hear about your sense of smell Jinger!! You might not know it, but you’ve given me hope. I had Covid in 2021 and lost my sense of smell and taste. I have occasional whiffs, but they are usually not accurate. For example, I recently tried smelling some fine, expensive pipe tobacco. I thought maybe the scent would be strong enough to break through. Sadly, it broke through smelling like an extraordinarily rancid Slim Jim jerky….with extra garlic. Hearing you talk about how your sense of smell is starting to return really gives me hope that maybe one day, mine will too! And maybe the smells that do occasionally pop through will be accurate!! And once I start to smell things, maybe I’ll start to taste them too! Oh well, a girl can dream 😂 Merry Christmas to you and yours 🎄

This year i was scammed by an Uber passenger and he managed to get me to transfer ALL of my money to him via a wire transfer. There was a blessing in all of this. I saved my tips over the year and instead of sponsoring just one teenager, we were able to sponsor FOUR! I dropped all the gifts off three weeks prior to being scammed. It could have been so much worse. My own kids are very understanding and we're not bothered with just spending the day together as a family, sharing a wonderful meal together and remembering why we are celebrating. I am upset about the money, but I have no one to blame but me and my own gullibility. I will recover from this- it's just a very hard lesson to learn.

Christ isn’t in “Christmas” because it’s all pagan holidays. It’s just when the Christian church decides to celebrate His birthday which the early Church never did, and nor did the Word tell us to do.

People didn’t start saying “Happy Holidays” to take Christ out of Christmas. They say it because December is filled with other religious holidays like Hanukah and Kwanza. Is it so hard to recognize that while YOU may be Christian, others are not? Tolerance, patience and acceptance of others that are different than us is a pretty big part of Christ’s teachings.

Yes....bringing evergreen trees and branches and holly into the house is an ancient pagan winter soltice practice. It reminds us of life and hope for more life in the dead of winter. The lights and candles too.....is a desire for the sun to come back on the darkest longest night of the year. It is not Christian, it is pagan. Christians just adopted this pagan european tradition. It is a beautiful tradition.

Jeremy, with you coming from the Philadelphia area, I don’t know if you are Familiar with the Catholic School & Church, Our Mother of Sorrows. My Uncle was the Pastor for many many years. He would have a Great Christmas Dinner/Party for ALL the Children of the School. My Family went every year. We would ALL come bearing Gifts for these children, that in most cases didn’t have anything under a tree, or even have a tree at their home. I loved giving to these kids. The school has since joined with another. I still give, but in a different way. Now I am alone every Christmas, but I still Love to give to others. So I randomly give, starting December 1, to random people, where ever I am. It could be a Server at a restaurant. Sometimes I will go to Walmart and ask the person in the the lay away Department, to put X amount of money on someone’s account. I just wish I could see the persons face, when they find out they don’t actually owe what they thought. I like to Bless people in that way.

@@barbaradw9969 Jeremy's Church (Grace Church) is anti-Catholic. They say As long as the Roman Catholic Church continues to assert its own authority and bind its people to “another gospel,” it is the spiritual duty of all true Christians to oppose Roman Catholic doctrine with biblical truth and to call all Catholics to true salvation. Meanwhile, evangelicals must not capitulate to the pressures for artificial unity. They cannot allow the gospel to be obscured, and they cannot make friends with false religion, lest they become partakers in their evil deeds (2 John 11).

If somebody wishes me Merry Christmas. I came from a small town and I am very used to that. I, however, will wish somebody a happy holiday if I don’t know what faith they observe. If you're going to be technical about xmas then the fact that it was a Pagan holiday should be mentioned.. "Although some evidence suggests that Jesus' birth may have occurred in the spring (why would shepherds be herding in the middle of winter?), Pope Julius I chose December 25. It is commonly believed that the church chose this date in an effort to adopt and absorb the traditions of the pagan Saturnalia festival. First called the Feast of the Nativity, the custom spread to Egypt by 432 and to England by the end of the sixth century. By holding Christmas at the same time as traditional winter solstice festivals, church leaders increased the chances that Christmas would be popularly embraced, but gave up the ability to dictate how it was celebrated. By the Middle Ages, Christianity had, for the most part, replaced pagan religion."

Has Jeremy ever done a sermon on Christmas and it's pagan origins? I grew up not celebrating Christmas as a child because of the pagan roots and I'm still so confused as an adult. I would love to hear his take.

As a Canadian, it’s just a given that people remove their shoes at the door - all year round. I suppose it feels like good etiquette. Who knows what’s being tracked in? Yuck.

Agree 100% Christ first..Jesus is X(& Jesus is the Reason for the Season) Also some heads up warning..Maybe This Holiday won't happen? Many warning signs on line Kaboom Usa! Many Christians will be Left Behind because they did not want to learn to Rightly Di ide the Word of Truth,2 Timothy 2;15 Therefore they wrongly teach the Law + Grace together is Wrong!! We are saved by GRACE through faith in Christ Alone!!KJV only!!..😅😇🙏
