Update: I just noticed that I mention in this video that you can wash your kefir grains after use. This is a lie, you DON'T want to wash your milk kefir grains in anything other than milk, it will harm them massively. Also I kind of use to much milk relative to the amount of grains in this video, you want to be using about half of what I do in this video.

One thing you can do for the water kefir second fermentation is to put it into a bottle and use an air lock/carboy instead of a swingtop bottle. The airlock/carboy let the gasses out while keeping the kefir carbonated, but stops it from becoming explosive.

Hey where do you get your kefir grains? I saw some places selling dry dehydrated ones, and some wet. Is there a difference and is one better than the other?
@jonas_westh2 жыл бұрын
Both will work and will eventually be the exact same grains. The dry dehydrated ones might be a bit damaged in the beginning and will take some time before they can make proper kefir compared to the wet ones though.

If store bought kefir contains the bacteria within kefir grains, would simply adding more milk to a half-finished store bought kefir work?
