Translation regarding differentials: If you're just playing around(drifting in this case), setting the center differentials open seems to be a better choice because it's more predictable and easier to control(less understeer) and lock it during snow. You can have fun as if it's a rear wheel drive car. Don't need R32 anymore - Tsuchiya Oh and apparently this impreza(white gc8) seems to have more understeer than the previous model due to having higher body rigidity.
@Miiikeru Жыл бұрын
Some notes to add to this, Open diff (green) will give the car a 35% front and 65% rear torque bias. Locked diff (orange) will give it 50% front 50% rear. The light chassis and rear torque bias + simultaneous AWD makes GC8s slideable. R33s are heavy in comparison and the dynamic AWD makes it hard to slide. The white car is more rigid than the blue car because of the central B-pillar in the 4 door setup. Impreza coupes are less rigid than sedans because they lack this.

From Japan! There should be intermediary services that allow you to order from the Japanese auctions (Yahoo auctions). I picked up a nice RA quick steering rack, some Speedline wheels and some aftermarket shocks with lowering springs for example. :) They came wrapped in JDM newspaper. ;) Also some parts from the GDA/GDB WRX should fit as they are the same, e.g., the four-pot Sumitomo brake calipers, wheels (5x100), exhaust, turbos, manifolds, etc. The EJ205 engine should be largely the same between a late GC8 and an early GDA. If you want to buy brand new tuning parts you could also try RHDJapan.com

He is driving a Type R and Type RA both came with Driver Controlled Centre Differentials (DCCD). When this type or diff is set to fully open the car has a 35% front and 65% rear torque bias. Modern STIs have this too but use newer adaptive DCCDs that change the torque bias automatically. It can be disabled and act like old DCCDs but drifting is still held back by the weight and rigidity of the newer chassis.
