@@devonesq.7533 It comes down to making humans stupid! I'm serious, the more advanced technology is the more dependent we become! Not only that but it takes the fun out of everything, you can't have fun anymore when driving a car. People today would drop dead if they had to press a clutch to shift gears or change a radio in their dash because they wanna listen to CDs instead of a cassette tape, I loved doing that as a kid😀! I remember my brother an me doing donuts in the snow with my 5 speed Ranger, I used to do burnouts and try to drift that little 4 cylinder all the time😆! Someday we will have completely autonomous cars and get into shouting matches with the A.I. about proper drift initiation😁!

I had an old 95 1.8L wagon that had maybe 100hp, but man if you got going fast and threw it into a corner it responded so well. Even not having a rear swaybar 😂 it's so simple. Turn in, little bit of countersteer to point you in the right direction, then steer back into it and keep it pinned and you'll come right through. I made alot of fast cars look slow on my local mountain pass when I would go over it to see my friends.

Translation regarding differentials: If you're just playing around(drifting in this case), setting the center differentials open seems to be a better choice because it's more predictable and easier to control(less understeer) and lock it during snow. You can have fun as if it's a rear wheel drive car. Don't need R32 anymore - Tsuchiya Oh and apparently this impreza(white gc8) seems to have more understeer than the previous model due to having higher body rigidity.
@Miiikeru
@Miiikeru Жыл бұрын
Some notes to add to this, Open diff (green) will give the car a 35% front and 65% rear torque bias. Locked diff (orange) will give it 50% front 50% rear. The light chassis and rear torque bias + simultaneous AWD makes GC8s slideable. R33s are heavy in comparison and the dynamic AWD makes it hard to slide. The white car is more rigid than the blue car because of the central B-pillar in the 4 door setup. Impreza coupes are less rigid than sedans because they lack this.

This car single handedly built the sti name. The car looks so controlled in a skid and it’s an awd.

Not to take anything away from McRae but drifting on dirt is completely different to drifting on track. AWDs actually drift pretty easy on loose surfaces.

Keiichi is the drift king and yeah it is actually cool to drift an AWD car, especially WRX STIs.

Subaru used to make coupes. Wish they could make a new SVX using the tech they developed in rally through the years. People will flock to buy a Subaru coupe.

The only way to counteract the understeer is by tossing it into a corner sideways. Using the weight of the vehicle to your advantage is kind of a hail-mary when it comes to AWD cars. They all struggle in this regard.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET GC8 PARTS IN CANADA. Sorry for yelling there but god damn I am struggling to find parts for my car.
@TassieLorenzo
@TassieLorenzo 3 жыл бұрын
From Japan! There should be intermediary services that allow you to order from the Japanese auctions (Yahoo auctions). I picked up a nice RA quick steering rack, some Speedline wheels and some aftermarket shocks with lowering springs for example. :) They came wrapped in JDM newspaper. ;) Also some parts from the GDA/GDB WRX should fit as they are the same, e.g., the four-pot Sumitomo brake calipers, wheels (5x100), exhaust, turbos, manifolds, etc. The EJ205 engine should be largely the same between a late GC8 and an early GDA. If you want to buy brand new tuning parts you could also try RHDJapan.com

Thank you for dropping a knowledge bomb on me! Im gonna do some research, then most likely go on a shopping spree for my ol girl. Then test the parts out in the mountains here :)

How do you drift an AWD Car? weld the differentials or something? Or is this guy just a sigma Chad?
@rampageblizzard
@rampageblizzard 2 жыл бұрын
You can really see the differential working its magic here trying its hardest to keep all wheels from spinning too much. Subaru drivetrains are so crazy
@Miiikeru

He is driving a Type R and Type RA both came with Driver Controlled Centre Differentials (DCCD). When this type or diff is set to fully open the car has a 35% front and 65% rear torque bias. Modern STIs have this too but use newer adaptive DCCDs that change the torque bias automatically. It can be disabled and act like old DCCDs but drifting is still held back by the weight and rigidity of the newer chassis.
