So far Labour's policies have had the unintended consequences of reducing the chances of growth. Keith Starman has mastered the political art of never directly answering any questions he is asked. Criticism not this government should not be interpreted as support for the previous one. The incompetence of the conservative government is being matched by that of the new Labour government, as every thing they have done so far has had major negative consequences for the economy. The pay rises will only be a short term fix, as the inflation resulting from their other policies will erode them. It is to be celebrated that Labour intends to re-nationalise three of the railway franchises. But it is deplorable that they are not to be converted into not for profit trusts, run for the benefit of the traveling public. It is also deplorable that the labour government is not re-nationalising the private monopoly water companies and converting them into not for profit trusts. Service industries are supporting activities for the UK economy, they should be run for the benefit of the UK consumers and the environment, not for profit.

Labour seem to forget about the economy they crashed last time they were in office, which was actually catastrophic and way worst than what the Tories did. I am not a Conservative voter, but I would rather have them than this current circus leading everyone down a blind alley into deeper chaos. Regardless of what people thought of Rishi Sunak as PM, he was 100% accurate when it came to whoever was in opposition to him. In the Tory leadership race he was on point with how Liz Truss would crash the economy, and then 100% right again with his assessment of 2 tier kier and Rachel from accounts, on their underhand plans on tax. He was right, on both of those occasions, and likely on many others.

Labour under Tony Blair left the Conservatives a £122 billion overspend to contend with. They tried to privatise no less than 40% of the NHS. They cut NHS budgets causing hospital and ward closures. They increased NHS bureaucratic paperwork and gave impossible targets and deadlines for hospital managers, to create a failing NHS, forcing people to go private. Their problems continued under the conservatives, as the conservatives worked to remove these problems. I have seen NO evidence of a £22 billion pound hole left by the Conservatives. But if that is all it is, then they have done well to fill the financial hole left by New Labour to the Conservative Government! The Conservative government, which took over from New Labour in 2010, had several notable accomplishments during its tenure. Here are some key achievements that benefited the people of the UK, infrastructure, and GDP: 1. Economic Growth: The Conservative government focused on economic recovery post-2008 financial crisis. They implemented austerity measures to reduce the budget deficit and stabilize the economy. 2. Brexit: One of the most significant events was the UK's decision to leave the European Union. The Conservatives, under Boris Johnson, successfully negotiated and completed Brexit, which was seen as reclaiming sovereignty and control over UK laws and borders. 3. Employment: The government saw a significant reduction in unemployment rates. They introduced various employment schemes and apprenticeships to boost job creation. 4. Housing: The Conservatives embarked on an extensive house-building program to address the housing shortage. This included initiatives to increase home ownership and build affordable housing. 5. Healthcare: Despite criticisms, the government increased spending on the National Health Service (NHS). They aimed to improve healthcare services and reduce waiting times. 6. Infrastructure: Investments were made in infrastructure projects, including the development of high-speed rail (HS2) and improvements to road networks. These projects aimed to enhance connectivity and support economic growth. 7. Education: The government introduced reforms in the education sector, including the expansion of academies and free schools. These reforms aimed to improve educational standards and provide more choices for parents and students. 8. Welfare Reforms: The Conservatives implemented welfare reforms to encourage work and reduce dependency on state benefits. This included the introduction of Universal Credit to simplify the benefits system. These accomplishments reflect the Conservative government's efforts to address various challenges and improve the overall well-being of the UK population. While there were criticisms and controversies, these initiatives had a significant positive impact on the country's infrastructure and GDP. In 2010, when the Conservatives took over from New Labour, the UK's GDP was approximately $2.49 trillion. By 2024, when Labour took over from the Conservatives, the UK's GDP was estimated to be around $3.34 trillion. This shows a significant increase in GDP over the 14-year period, reflecting various economic policies and global economic conditions that influenced the UK's economic growth. The Conservative welfare reforms from 2010 to 2024 had a significant impact on people and businesses in the UK. Here’s a breakdown of the key benefits and challenges during this period, considering the effects of the war in Ukraine, recessions, and the Covid-19 pandemic: 1. Welfare Reforms: Universal Credit: Introduced to simplify the benefits system by merging six benefits into one payment. This aimed to make it easier for people to understand and manage their benefits. 2. Employment Support: Various schemes were introduced to encourage employment, such as the Work Programme and the Kickstart Scheme, which helped reduce unemployment rates. 3. Pension Reforms: The introduction of the Triple Lock Guarantee ensured that state pensions increased by the highest of inflation, average earnings, or 2.5%, protecting pensioners' incomes. 4. Disability Benefits: The Personal Independence Payment (PIP) replaced the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to better target support for those with disabilities. Economic Challenges: 1. War in Ukraine: The conflict led to significant disruptions in global food and fuel supplies, causing price increases. Ukraine, known as the "breadbasket of Europe," saw its agricultural exports severely impacted, leading to higher food prices globally. 2. Covid-19 Pandemic: The pandemic caused an unprecedented economic shock, with GDP falling by 9.7% in 2020. The government implemented various support measures, such as furlough schemes and business grants, to mitigate the impact. 3. Recessions: The UK faced multiple economic challenges, including the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis and the economic fallout from Brexit. These events led to periods of economic uncertainty and slower growth. Benefits to People and Businesses: 1. Increased Employment: Welfare reforms and employment support schemes helped reduce unemployment rates, providing more job opportunities for people. 2. Simplified Benefits System: Universal Credit made it easier for people to manage their benefits, reducing administrative burdens and improving access to support. 3. Support During Crises: Government interventions during the Covid-19 pandemic, such as furlough schemes and business grants, provided crucial support to businesses and individuals, helping to stabilize the economy. Conservative Government Pensioner Welfare Benefits (2010-2024) 1. Triple Lock Guarantee: The Conservatives introduced the Triple Lock Guarantee, ensuring that state pensions increased by the highest of inflation, average earnings, or 2.5%. This policy aimed to protect pensioners' incomes and maintain their purchasing power. 2. Universal Credit: While primarily aimed at working-age individuals, Universal Credit also impacted pensioners, particularly those with younger partners. The system aimed to simplify benefits and provide a more streamlined support mechanism. 3. Winter Fuel Payments: The Conservative government maintained Winter Fuel Payments to help pensioners with heating costs during the colder months. 4. Pension Freedoms: Introduced in 2015, these reforms allowed individuals more flexibility in accessing their pension savings, enabling them to withdraw lump sums or draw down their pension pot as needed. Labour Government Changes (2024 Onwards) 1. Pension Credit: Labour has tied the Winter Fuel Payment to Pension Credit eligibility, meaning only those on lower incomes receive this benefit. This change has led to a surge in Pension Credit applications. 2. State Pension Increase: Labour has committed to maintaining the Triple Lock Guarantee, ensuring continued protection of pensioners' incomes. 3. Pension System Overhaul: Labour has scrapped the "pot for life" concept, which would have allowed employees to select their own pension provider and carry their pension pot between jobs. This move was aimed at reducing administrative burdens and costs. 4. Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) Schemes: Labour is expanding access to CDC pension schemes, which pool contributions from multiple employers to provide more predictable returns and greater financial security for pensioners. Impact on Well-being and Mortality 1. Well-being: The Conservative policies, particularly the Triple Lock Guarantee and Pension Freedoms, aimed to provide financial stability and flexibility for pensioners. Labour's focus on targeting benefits to those most in need, such as through the Pension Credit-linked Winter Fuel Payment, aims to reduce poverty among the poorest pensioners. 2. Mortality: Ensuring adequate income and support for heating costs can have a direct impact on pensioners' health and mortality, particularly during winter months. Labour's targeted approach may help those most at risk, but the transition period and eligibility criteria could leave some pensioners without necessary support. Overall, both governments have aimed to support pensioners, but their approaches differ in terms of universality versus targeted support. Labour's changes are designed to address inequalities and provide more focused assistance to those in need. However, under Labour's welfare changes affecting pensioners, there are expected to be no less that 4,000 elderly deaths caused by removing the winter fuel payment. Pensioners who get their income topped up with pension credit so that they get the same income as someone on a full state pension will get the winter fuel payment. But pensioners on a full state pension will not get the winter fuel payment, making them worse off despite any state pension increases. We also have had the highest ever influx of illegal immigrants into this country under Labour, and they have divided the UK and caused so much unrest. We have seen how pro-Islamist our UK government is, and how they police native British people and legal immigrants much worser than they do Islamists. And we are seeing how Labour is eroding our online freedoms, and external freedoms of speech, expression, and right to protest. This rings bells of the forming of Communism during the cold war era, and the beginnings of the Nazi party of Germany. We need Labour removed and replaced with either Conservatives, Reform, or a coalition of Conservatives and Reform.

Tories aren't perfect, but at least they are not astreasonous and criminal as Labour party. It was Tony Blair who is essentially the biggest war criminal in Europe since WW2 that is still at large.
@Gladstone-hk9xw9 сағат бұрын
Hilarious. Firstly, you seem to have forgotten that we would never have invaded Iraq were it not for the Tories voting for it in greater numbers than Labour did, despite Labour having a majority in Parliament at the time. Secondly, shall we talk about how much public money the Tories threw at their rich mates in the form of worthless PPE contracts?
@autisticfieldmarshall10069 сағат бұрын
@@Gladstone-hk9xw it was Blair who pushed that fake Iraq report through. Tories weren't in charge at the time, Blair had a choice and he decided to become a geocidal war criminal. Tories pushing for kickbacks is bad but hardly compares to war crimes Blair has committed.
