Finally, a rational discussion about the pandemic response. Favorite pod this year! Following Rabois now, one helluva smart man. As a physician involved in disrupting healthcare, it was also nice to hear his take.

IMO, "Dunks" is a terrific idea, but the execution has room for improvement. 1) putting the entire exchange on the screen at once is a mistake. It's more work to prepare, but a section by section (i.e. after a jcal spacebar press) reveal will work much better. Timing, timing. 2) Jcal reading both sides of the exchange lessons the comic value as well. I don't recall how old Jcal's kids are but, if under about 13, have one of them read the tweets (audio only) of the dunkee. Keith reads his own tweets. Gold, Jerry, Gold. :-)

Vaccination does not mean immunity. Everyone will get Covid at some point, vaccines reduce severe symptoms, but a few will die or carry long-term illnesses. Covid varieties are a big concern since current vaccines won't be as effective. Also, Keith, one of the smartest men in the industry, much respect but he's selling Miami pretty hard. Unless you're around his 'circle', most of Miami is garbage.

Someone is selling Miami pretty hard. Let’s be clear, TAXES and reduced cost of living are the main drivers of many folks who left CA. To pretend otherwise is disingenuous. I love Miami as much as the next person... except for the sweltering heat/humidity through the summer and hurricanes in the fall. But still, I’d consider living there for the cost benefits alone.

Im from Florida and this is delusional. Everything he just said was a complete fabrication. And I know because I used to work for a law firm in Miami and have seen how people behave. Not to mention crime is rampant and Police abuse is almost as rampant. I had a drunk driver hit a tree on front of my house and the Police let him go. I’ve had people throw objects at me from cars while I was walking, and once witnessed a woman escape a kidnapper while I was standing on a street corner. When I called the Police everyone fled. And when my truck was stolen from my front yard the Police towed it across the city instead of letting me pick it up. The idea that Miami is some safe open minded city is ridiculous.

My man is selling Miami hard but Miami DOES have a relatively high property crime rate. Not nearly as high as SF (4th highest out of 100 major US cities) but it still ranks 33rd.

I believe the dangers of sugar were known long ago. I can't remember the specifics. But I think reports on sugar were suppressed just like they were on tobacco.

December 2023 - fl is a great tech hub because of what the policies did. Ca is a failure because of govt policies - dispite being an open state fl had no worse COVID - the most woke people in the us will do anything but won’t speak out against China or Saudi Arabia because they want to make money. This is VCs and companies - you are the average of the 5 people you spend time with. Be very aware of who you spend your time with. You can’t help but pick up their behavior - unstructured learning is very important. Like the convos you have in the car, without the agenda, by the cooler, etc. there are things and benefits that happen that can’t be replicated with structured learning Just random things that can’t be put on an agenda - this is very helpful and can’t be replicated unless things are in person. - founders fund: “does this person have irrationally high odds of changing the industry or planet with this company”
