Hi, Keith. Thanks for sharing this information, my friend. Excellent piece of paper. But they have to handle it with care. Antoine

Thanks Antoine!

Honestly what Baryta doesn't need to be handled with care? I swear it's all very delicate.

Hi Keith, thanks for showing us the print settings and make of printer as this is a minefield for many people. It would be interesting to see how this paper prints on the canon equivalent printer? I always use icc profiles downloaded from the paper manufacturer relative to the printer im using. Lastly nothing beats holding a print in the flesh so to speak, for me this is the end goal to my work.

I agree! Seeing your work in print is fun and important! It’s nice to have a relatively affordable alternative albeit a little difficult to get in hand at the moment!

Not sure what Epson is doing here. This paper is just as good, if not better, as anything Hahnemuhle, Canson, Red River, and Moab are putting out but it's very difficult to buy. I found a roll on ebay and love it. Unlike a lot of Alpha Cellulose Baryta's from Canon and Hahnemuhle this one has a cotton fiber base and as a result, you can actually get the curl out without damaging the photo. Great samples, Keith.

You are very right, in fact I prefer the Epson surface, over the others but it is difficult to find

on the video it looks similar to Canson Platine Fiber Rag which too has a baryta coating on a cotton fiber base paper. You might try downlmoading the Canson ICC profile for that paper.

I agree and I thought the same thing! That's a good idea about the ICC profile -- thank you

Keith! Another great class and another tempting paper! :) Two things: Interesting take on the ICC vs ABW. I honestly find it hard to distinguish between the two with a print. The ABW tends to be dead neutral, that being said I print via Qimage, not Photoshop. Question: How do you compare this paper to our favorite which is the Hahnemuhle papers? Third, where can I buy the paper from?
@Keithdotson Жыл бұрын
I'll be honest - I think the Moab that I reviewed previously and this one are quite competitive with the Hahnemuhle papers -- and this is quite white with no OBAs. However, getting some of this paper is tricky. I'm not sure if they are still trying to get it into the distribution funnel, but the only place I could find it was a place called Imaging Spectrum (located in Dallas).

@@Keithdotson Cheers mate. That was the only place I saw it as well. Maybe i"ll give it a workout on my Epson P800.

Keith, thank you for the video. What B&W film were you using for the truck photos?
@Keithdotson Жыл бұрын
Thank you! That was Cinestill Double X film.

@@KeithdotsonI thought that might be it. Is that your go-to now? Thanks

It is my current favorite but I'm also going through a stock of TMAX 100 that I also enjoy. I am experimenting with other things like Fomapan 100 and others just for fun, but the Cinestill Double X is consistently excellent in tonal range and sharpness.

Does it come in a high gloss finish or just satin?

Unfortunately not available in Europe. Based on the data sheet and the video here it could be identical to the new Permajet Baryta Rag, which was also introduced earlier this year. I don’t think this is related to any Canson paper.

Interesting! You may have found the source! At this point it’s barely available in the US either.
