Thank you! Great basic fundamental setup information, everyone should know this. I’ll use it. With all the tackle out there, this makes it simple and easy to understand. Love the older man fishing, he reminds me of my dad having a good time.

Heres a tip, if you dont have a bobber stop with you, you can use a tiny splitshot as a bobber stop, as long as your desired depth is less than the length of your rod. It works well.

Great video! I've always used straight fluoro on the reel for bottom rigs as it sinks. For slip bobbers I've always used mono on the reel as it floats - with a fluoro leader.

*These are easy to use and highly visible **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they are extremely valuable for going from a dead drift set up to a float setup. They save time and you don't have to re-tie everything to add a float to your presentation.*

Thank you. 🌞👍🏼 This is going to be helpful for me as crappies are biting right now in my local lakes.

I use a slip bobber without any stops and combine it with either a ned rig or a wacky rig for bass fishing. I let the bait hit the bottom, then give a light tug to get it into motion again and let it fall back down. Do this over and over. I get more drops per cast from the bank without having to recast all the time. Eventually the tugs make the bobber come back to shore and then I recast it out as far as I can and start all over.

That’s so smart. Awesome bank angling tip! 🤙🤙 worst part of the bank is snags and depth strike zone access and this helps with both!

Try Thill Weighted Slip Bobbers....cast along ways when using 2 or 4 lbs line. Nothing but Trout Magnets as my lure as I don’t retain fish and they catch everything.

Been trying to find a good float for Trout Magnets. @@thebigroy yes, but I use a different model by Thill now. Cheaper model but is still weighted with a slightly larger body shape with smaller holes. Lob City

Why did you decide 4lb and a ultra light rod in this video?? Recently, you have been recommending a light action rod with heavier line for more control. Thank you.

Well I’m lucky to spend thousands of hours on the water. Over time I’ve consistently refined my approaches. Time on the water is the ultimate teacher and I’m not rigid. I always try to employ the best and most effective approach. Also guiding has been a huge influence on my thinking because I get to observe hundreds of anglers per year. I now have a better grasp on what the average skill level of trout anglers in my area… And this influences some of the gear and rigging approaches I take

i use, basically, the same set-up, except with a bubble and 2# test...btw, i wanted to see you at the show (well, along with all the other exhibits too), but i got but with a $100 rx co-pay, so that blew my budget for a while, so, there's always next year...tight lines forever...

Only issue, you are only getting a rod's length of leader below the surface with this set up. If you use a bubble, with air in it... no stopper.. you can get that bait down 10-20ft below surface. No difference between your set up and a regular bobber.

Hi Mark...That was Sugar Pine.....I know some folks go to French Meadows this time of the year on snow mobiles or big 4x4s....Hell Hole is closes...We had a fair amount of snow in the high country last night....So I'm thinking access is extremely limited....
