I think Kemper reviews are the only reviews that always impress. Others "can" sound good, but Kemper never disappoints. 👍

Hi Jon! Love your videos and reviews... keep up the good work! Im an Kemper user for more than 2 years now with the rack version. This week I bought the Stage also specially for live usage. Both units are amazing and the sound if profiles are done right, sound like the real deal! The editor is really good and very easy to use. I guess everyone with 1 week of usage will get vary familiar with the unit even without the editor. Excellent sound, great built quality, various ins and outs for all sorts of usage... Best piece of gear I ever owned. Cheers man.

“Please note that the Locking Function is mostly for editing if you like to try out different AMP Profiles with the same effect settings you can lock the effects and check out different Profiles with the same effect setting. Or for Live situation by example, you tweak your EQ because the room has a bad resonance than you lock the EQ tho have it over the whole session.,” My thanks to Manfred Schmitt for pointing this out. The algorithms Kemper use are without doubt some of the best, and once you have set all the various parameters, this looks like it would be quite useful. However, I would worry in a live setting, because you always have to tweak something (E.Q. etc.) and this unit looks as though accessing basic controls in a live setting might be somewhat difficult. Who has time to access a function, scroll to a menu, change the sub-menu, activate the sub-function, and then remember where the dial is for that one, during the 2 bar bridge, that you are still singing in, whilst trying to keep time with the syncopated rhythm that drummers always feel is needed under those circumstances LOL! Just sayin' Actually for studio use this looks like a great piece of gear, but one of the pricier options. Thanks Jonathan, your demo was an insight.
@JonIsJustTooLoud4 жыл бұрын
Ian Luckett lol.. oh my.. is really complicated, the way you described it!! The fact is I seldom do tweaks on stage with my helix as I’ll have it all tweaked at home. Maybe just some minor adjustments✌️❤️

@@JonIsJustTooLoud I take your meaning Jonathan! Anyway it's front-of-house that carries the can if the sound is messed up!!! LOL! Those capabilities to store settings in sound banks that can be accessed by the foot-switches can make these really useable. I used to use an old rack effect that could be switched that way, and it was surprisingly trouble free in live situations. I think maybe I'm just getting too old to be able t keep up these days! Thanks Jonathan.

Thanks Jon for a fresh demo and review! I'm still stuck on the cost, if it really is worth $1,800 vs something like the Zoom G5n under $400. The sounds and quick access looper are very nice, but the small mono screen is ridiculous for a $1800 product.

The general answer is yes. Having had all the B tier units, when I got the Fractal AX8 (about $700 now used), I was pretty floored at the tones, clearly better than the B tier. Are Corvettes amazing cars, sure, but it's still not a Ferrari. There is a difference from A-tier modelers/profilers to B-tier for sure. The AX8 is a stunning deal for A-tier tones on a budget for example.

They need to come out with a scaled down and more affordable version for people,and most probably don’t use the majority of stuff it’s capable of as it is

Hi Jonathan, do you think the stage version is as easy to control as the head/rack version even at home? I'm thinking about getting a kemper recently but I struggled a bit between the stage and head version. I do like that you get the capability of taking it with you easier to a gig but since I want to use it mainly for recording at home, do you think the stage version is still worth it compares to the head? I mean the head kinda looks better at home and maybe it's easier to control in some sense things you can have it on your desk. Which one do you think is better?

Jonathan: Don't think anyone who knows gear will question the sonic capabilities of this Kemper unit. However, I do think you're being too kind - that interface is absolutely NOT user friendly and certainly IMO would be a disaster to try and manipulate during a stage situation, even if you have it connected to a laptop. I looked hard at this unit also but no matter how good it sounded [and it generally does sound GREAT], the level of complexity for basic things such as a user GUI is just terrible. When Kemper goes back to the drawing board for the next version, bringing in guitar players who also happen to know some stuff about designing strong GUI front ends, I will be much more interested. Until then, the Helix and even the Boss GT1000 are far superior overall IMO. This thing is indeed the complete opposite of the Zoom G11 you recently looked at, which had one of the most intuitive MFX interfaces on the market.
@JonIsJustTooLoud4 жыл бұрын
I do see your point...i guess its easier for me because I have had experience with mutli-effect boards thru the years...And yes The Helix is way more user friendly...but then again..A newbie would be lost on his venture on a Helix too!! ✌❤

Didnt hear any sounds that i cant make on my Boss me-80. Sorry 👍
Yeah, sound's pretty good, but it's not my cup of tea! Why not take a computer with a good software, put a midi controller on the floor and use this? It's more versatile and flexible and has the same issues as those Kempers, Helix's and so on. They are fixed little computers. Is that playing guitar? Imao no. I'm old and don't see why to use plastic instead of the real wood. No lag and easy to fix and to setup like i like it. Analogue is my way as far as it goes. Everyone's own choice. But that's only an old guys opinion. I don't want to play a digital guitar, no matter how good it sounds at first hearing. And no matter how many guitars are build in. Switch, it's a Gibson LP, switch it's a Fender Stratocaster, switch its a Martin whatever. No, it's not. Same with amps. You can't move this old tree 😉. Done a great vid with nice playing - Thx for it and stay safe ☮️

But Guenter, you have to acknowledge having the sounds of every amp made, through endless cabinets ever made, to perhaps 98% the same sound quality is amazing. Just in that one device you have all of music history to draw on. I still have tube amps too, but these offer amazing versatility.
