This is why I appreciate Fil Henley's Wings of Pegasus channel so much. It's objective and scientific analysis. Fil never said Ken Tamplin can't sing or play guitar. And It's clear that Ken is a fantastic rock singer and guitarist. BUT Fil was asked to look at a vid and say weather Ken is lip syncing in parts of it. Fil's analysis showed Ken was lip syncing parts of it, (to his own earlier recorded live vocal from years ago) and also in one vid was not playing the guitar. Fil never said Ken "can't sing" or was a bad guitar player. Just to be clear. Hats off to Fil!

It is hilarious. Tamplin, instead of fessing up and pledging to do better has doubled down on the lie. He appears to be hanging his hat on the notion that he was "singing live" along with a prerecorded track that included 35 year old lead vocals. But if all the audience can hear is the prerecorded track because his mic is turned down or off, it's a distinction without a difference. It's still fake singing. Tamplin has been a vocal critic of other singers use of processing, and of lip synching. Nobody like a hypocrite, which is why there's so much pile-on.

Ken got big on YT almost a decade ago (Jimmy Fallon showed one of his clips as a comedy bit), and even then there were concerns about the miming - but he's quite litigious and pushy, so has managed to avoid real scrutiny for a while. He can sing but obviously doesn't have the pipes to perform as well as he says in the situations that he purports to coach for. There is something a bit slippery about the whole deal.

The guy's comment in the video is true. No one should fear Ken suing them. First, he is his own fake lawyer sending bad grammar emails. Ken and his "lawyer" type the same using the same patterns. He did the usual scammer thing. Find a real legal person online with a quick search and then change the person's name a little. So anyone looking for the lawyer's name will see a lawyer with that name but it isn't the same name. Second, if he took anyone to court, he would have to admit he is a hack in court. If they used backing tracks, he wouldn’t be an octave lower. He has previously criticised Ronnie James Dio too… so he has basically gone after the Holy Trinity of heavy metal vocalists, and the guy can’t even sing himself (almost anyone can sound good on a recording that has been produced in studio, he can’t do it live though)! Only a couple minutes into the video and... Well, I am guitarist and he obviously plays beyond me. I could never play fast notes (shred) by moving my entire hand. About Ken's so-called live video, I've analyzed those tracks using the Shazam app on my phone and Shazam clearly identifies them as being perviously-released music.

The thing is Gabbi Gun in the latest video, while a good singer, is also miming. There are cuts between 4 different camera perspectives, so she probably did 4 different takes, because its unlikely there would be room for 4 cameramen in that little studio

Personally Ken gets on my nerves, he is so full of himself and thinks he's a better singer then for example Freddie Mercury, Paul Rodgers or David Coverdale. He criticizes them and then he shows you how it should be sung in his opinion without considering someone's naturel vibrato for instance etc. I do think that's one of the reasons a lot of people don't like him. The lip-syncing during that live show and in the studio is a fact, but I do think he can sing, although he might be knowledgeable, I don't like his singing, he's a one trick belter and that's fine but he lacks any vocal diversity or emotional interpretation in my opinion. The thing is, vocal coaches are mostly failed musicians/singers that weren't special or talented enough to get to the big stage. It does seem that he's somehow successful in the vocal coaching business and I do think the whole hateful reaction video's are unnecessary and disproportionate. But that's the risk of having a very personal connected online business, one mistake or a not politicly correct remark and they burn you at the social media stake! Ken's method is based on the same techniques taught by his instructor, the late great Ron Anderson. TONS of pro musicians and actors studied with Anderson, so if Journeys drummer took some lessons with Ron Anderson, then yes, he is using the same techniques that KT teaches. Anybody teaching Bel Canto is using the same basic techniques. It is either Bel Canto based, or it isn't.

Everyone is decade late. Myself, Robert Lunte, Brett Manning, Tony O'Hora and James Lugo have known Ken has been lip syncing for over 10 years. We have discussed it privately in email chains. We never publicly called him out on it for fear of backlash in looking petty and jealous. If you watch our videos from 6-8 years ago, you'll see veiled references to his fakery.
