Solomon Banks Yep, I'm getting rid of mine. They have failed me enough. When you are a monopoly like them you get away with murder. People need to at LEAST look at Contour, Drift and Sony. Goldrush exotic car rally which I'm covering on my channel soon is using Countour. I'm using Drift. My Drift has worked OUT of the box with NO updates! GoPro can't accomplish that and charge more. SMH

Excellent review, thorough and concise on the GP3+. I especially liked your practical demonstrations at the 2.7K and the practical useleness at 4K with only 15fps. You unbiased explanation clearly reveals the real world pros and cons. Please, if you could share details on your reference mic (excellent full body/tonality balance and range sound) and what software and camera you are using for your review video. Audio can be a real problem outside with wind friction noise, This review really needed to show that. Also various cable/ bluetooth connections to computer for achiveing videos/photos.

One of the Reason why you want to record at WVGA at 240fps is to even have a better slow motion effects, especially for editors who wants to slow it down to 20-30% slow or possibly even slower to avoid warping. The downside is at a resolution of 480P if remember..

If you have an Nvidia GPU (GTX600 Series or above) then you can upscale to 1k, 2k, 3k or 4k via the Nvidia Control Panel at the "Manage 3D Settings". Scroll down to DSR Factors and tick the relevant boxes. Providing your LED Monitor can scale in sync with the GPU. I have the HP x2301 which is 1080p, but can scale via the GPU.

Yes! All my GoPro cams have had issues. I recommend Drift, Contour and maybe Sony. Don't support monopolies. It's not good for the consumer.

How it sounds: Well no background music with the Go Pro :) other than that it has a good sound just a little bit of isss (noise) not much. It's an indoors test of the sound so outdoors it wouldn't be noticeable (unless it is). It would be nice to test wind noise cancellation like driving a car and capturing the video with the wind. The difference with and without the casing would be nice too.

Hi Ken. We are trying to decide what camera to buy for our trip to Orlando this summer. We have watched your videos for the go pro 3+ and 4. We shall be videoing the water rides and also at Aquatica and Discovery Cove, swim with dolphin's experience. Thanks ken - very informative - we have just brought a GoPro Hero3+ for our photography students and putting it through its paces at the moment before putting it on general release to them. The only problem I have found is when it goes inside the waterproof housing the audio is non existent - outside of the housing it is perfectly fine as as good a quality as shown in your video above. Any tips (if any) to improve the audio when using the waterproof house would be helpful. - Keep up to good work there - Tim

nice video, i personally cant see a whole lot of difference in hero 3 black edition except the recording time and a few little other features, a 8000 amp phone battery back would be the alternative, for longer recording on the hero 3 black,, is it worth the upgrade not sure,, in my opinion considering how cheap a battery pack for a phone is , i would say no, you can by a hero three way cheaper then the hero 3 + , i bought a hero 3 for 100.00 bucks with all the extras + shipping, 8000 milliamp battery for a phone from china free delivery to my door was free it set me back under 9.00 bucks,, good review

My biggest complaint with the gopro is that it doesn't let you take videos at 720p with 30fps. The camera only has the option to take videos in higher frame rates. I often choose 720 because it saves space and still looks good. But 48fps kinda takes away from the whole point of that. I suppose the gopro people thought users would only go down to the lower resolutions in order to get slo-mo and thus people wouldn't use 30fps at 720p.
