Kenmore 158.1814 sewing machine

I got this machine with table, cams, attachments and monogram accessories from a local goodwill store for only $35. I love it.

I got mine like 7 years ago from a woman whom received it for s wedding gift from her husband brand new! She kept it in pristine condition & had original manual & every attachment, the 3 boxes cams, monogramer, buttonhole,all feet, chain stich foot & adapter, straight foot throat & foot, including the Q foot which is UNBELIEVABLE with knit fabrics !!!! Like ITS A MUST HAVE FOOT WHEN SEWING WITH KNITS !!! Even original kenmore needle boxes !! I had to replace the wheel belt which was so easy and that was five years ago ! It sews anything i throw at it! Its a absolute BEAUTIFUL MACHINE!! I have a newer brother machine which I love and use for buttonholes because its way easier but I have to be more finicky with my brother & what I choose to see with it not my Kenmore it has sewn quilts jeans jersey lace anything the stiches are beautiful!! I love the monogramer its all metal and does a BEAUTIFUL job !! I do want to invest in a walking foot for it because I do quilting and even though I'm able to adjust the foot pressure on kenmore I usually end up top quilting on my brother because I have a walking foot for it & much easier to quilt wifh walking foot !!.my machine came in a wood cabinet which is fine because this machine is not light it has everything metal in it except the belts so transporting it you would need a crane 😂! I purchased it from the original owner for$50 & afterwards learned its Kenmores most coveted machine & collectible & I know why !! I will NEVER GET RID OF THIS MACHINE !! And I was so thankful to that woman for selling it to me & I promised her it would always be appreciated & adored !! Feel so lucky everytime I get to use it !!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this model number. My understanding is that the free arm version of this series was designated the 158.1914, and the flatbed version was given the model designation of 158.1814. I bought myself a 1914, and spent nearly two years trying to fully equip her (and succeeded with my wallet emptied out several times during this process) with her fully kitted out "Storybook" accessories. Even found the SHS walking foot for it. Your machine sews like a champ! Thank you for sharing!

Sounds like it needs a deep cleaning and oiled check to see the grease to see if needs to be charged out.

An 1814? I am sure those were flat bed machines. The machine in the video is a 158.1914.
