Obi Wan Kenobi mentally unstable in the desert, trying to find purpose and grieving for murdering his friend, while at the same time watching over Luke. Feeling guilty of being the murderer of the childs father, he tries to distance himself from the boy. Being reminded of the horrific thing he did to his former Padawan. But at the same time the news of a mysterious Sith Lord rising amongst the ranks of the Empire reaches him. He wouldn't dare to believe it. But after some searching Obi-Wan discoveres after all he have done, he ultimately failed and his former friend still lives. This sends him into a pit of guilt and confusion, the guilt of being the one to creating the monster now terrorizing the galaxy. It was his fault all along, dooming the galaxy, being the reason for the fall of the Jedi, and the Republic itself. So determined to ease his guilt he decides to leave Luke and to finish what he started. Spiraling into a revenge plot to assasinate his former friend. When he finally reaches killing distance, and now finally see the monster he created with his own eyes. But at the same time he gets news about an imperial squadron sent of to Tatooine, putting Luke in danger. Now Obi-Wan is faced with a choice. To take the dark path of revenge... or go back to save the child he swore to protect. He stares at the robotic figure in the distance, being so close to killing. But then remembering his purpose, he turns his back and flies back to Tatooine. Finds the Imperial Squadron near the farm and ignites the blue lightsaber for the first time in years. In the end making the right choice and saves Luke, Obi-Wan vows to never abandon his mission again. To protect the children of Skywalker and earning his name as the desert nomad Ben Kenobi.

I could actually get into a more philosophical character study like this. There's something about the material explored in this concept trailer that has more human depth than the hollow new trilogy. That voice of Qui Gon speaking to him and his dreams haunted by betrayal and failure. Kenobi must have been a broken man for years alone on Tatooine, carrying a heavy weight from the collapse of everything he knew. The massacre of the Jedi. The fall of the republic. The futility of all the things he had fought for. The only thing that gave him hope was Luke.

Hate to say it, but Luke must have had to go through the same thing. He thought he was The One. He turned his father good, balanced his force light and dark. Had been keeping this troubled nephew from going bad...but damn near gave into the darkside himself, causing his nephew to complete his turn. So he's dealing with his failure, both with Kylo and the fact the Empire still lived despite killing Palpatine. Yoda, done lost all fucks to give and went crazy. He realized they all failed long time ago, everything they were taught was wrong. Siths gonna sith, deal with it.

I agree that I am way more excited about this film than either Solo or Episode IV because this is something refreshingly new. To be honest, this trailer reminded me a lot of the trailer for "Tree of Life" back in the day. I disliked that movie (and hardly like most of Malick's work) but I can see the series going more in that type of direction and being great. And lets not forget that Ewan McGregor is an amazing actor. He can pull this off.

This looks really interesting, much more so than the recently released trailer for the actual Disney+ show. If there were a Kenobi feature film I'd want it to be like this. A psychological character study, perhaps involving some minor external conflict but mostly about Obi Wan finding his confidence and inner peace with Qui Gon's help. Maybe Qui Gon will admit that he knew there was darkness ahead for Anakin and that it's all part of the will of the Force. Would be a cathartic moment for Obi Wan. Maybe they could also discuss Obi Wan's motives for letting Anakin live after the lava duel

Actually, there's a pretty good book with the same title, in the expanded universe. Yes, Kenobi did stay on Tatooine, but had an event happening which threatened with a revealing of Luke's location to their enemies. So there was some action surrounding that, with a side plot involving Obi Wan helping a woman save her farm and her kids. Long time since I read the book, but it was absolutely fantastic. Much centered around Obi Wan's loneliness as he ventured Tatooine alone, his struggle trying to connect with Qui Gon for guidance and find his "new role" while coming to peace with his failures with Anakin. It's one of the best books in the EU in my opinion. Mostly because it mixed the emotional stuff ( come on, at that point, Obi Wan felt responsible for the destruction of the Jedi Order, who wouldn't feel like shit after that?) with action, and showing that Obi Wan could still change lives for the better, even isolated and stuck on that planet. The book is titled "Kenobi", but don't remember the author. If they made a movie following that book, it would be fantastic. Perhaps not quite as fast paced as other SW movies, but much more thought provoking while still containing a healthy dose of action.

Things this movie needs: 1. Darth Maul is the main antagonist 2. The time is set after the revenge of the Sith where Maul came back to life and chases Obi wan for revenge. 3. We hear Qui-gon's voice giving advice to Obi wan. (Dont they fookin there recast Liam Neeson) 4. A young Han solo cameo. 5. *hELLo tHeRe* 6. Better light saber fights than the last Jedi. 7. Sudden flash backs of mustafar and moments with Anakin. 8. Recreate the Mustafar fight scene with better CGI 9.He defeated Maul using the high ground. Edit: alot of people hatin on me for the Vader v Kenobi idea 😂 like srsly chill, i know they won't reunite until 'A new Hope" i meant it as a dream sequence. Like chill wtf.

MgGregor's portrayal of Kenobi was one of the few things about the Prequels that I thoroughly enjoyed. And the extended universe book revolving around his character in that time is one of my favorite Star Wars novels. Really hope that this sees the light of day and that they do it justice. Ewan McGregor is an amazing actor. Watching him in the prequels felt like watching the actual young Obi-Wan Kenobi, instead of just an actor playing a role. Since this is a a movie all die hard star wars lovers will want to watch over and over again (myself included). This should be like a 2.5 hour movie. First 25 minutes is all his PTSD and flashbacks (good and bad). They should bring maul back for that ending. Even for how short the battle is, on film, seeing obiwan and maul' s last fight on the big screen would be amazing
