Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes addresses the media in Las Vegas following the 1st round of the 2024 NHL Draft. The Canadiens selected Ivan Demidov and Michael Hage with the 5th and 21th picks, respectively.

Pretty much perfect draft from the Habs! Demidov and Hage are exactly what we needed and pretty much the best case scenario related to where we were picking. What a night !!

@@bigchuck3426 Eiserman's only weakness is defense, that may make him Hoffman 2.0. Hage isn't great defensively either but he's better than Eiserman. He's got high hockey IQ, he's fast, all the tools offensively. Needs more work defensively, especially with pace.

Demidov the biggest steal of the draft... He's 2nd best player I'm the draft and Kent sniped when he got opportunity. We got out Michkov finally! In Kent we trust!

Wouldn't he have picked Michkov if "we got our Michkov"??? The Michkov hype is so unwarranted it's insane. I mean, Galchenyuk had more points than him in the KHL 😂😂😂

Many scouts feel that Demidov is a better all around player than Michkov. Plus he's bigger as well.

I’m so excited - I wish Demidov could join the young group this fall! Hage seems very skilled. Let’s not forget we have Fowler in the system, he will be the next Price.

Well! Almost everyone now is in love with Kent and that's a good thing. Heck, I'm in love too! We are seeing everything on the bright side at the moment. And Céline above all? Forget about it! But as when most of us are of bad Faith when a pick turns out to be a let down, I hope that we will not judge Kent too harshly if Demidov is ever disappointing. We will have to remember that all of us, or almost all of us, the pseudo-experts, were happy and satisfied with this choice. However, I am sure that there are some people somewhere who are not happy with Demidov's choice. Such is the nature and complexity of the human being. Somewhere, somehow, there is someone who judges that Pacino is not a good actor. But for now, for what it's worth, let's celebrate what appears to be a bright future for our legendary and historic team! Heck, let’s even talk about a future 25th Cup. Or is it 24th? I lost count. Just for a while, tho. Next week, back to the grind. But whith a pumped chest and a smile.

Marinaro sucks, I am glad he got put in his place. His podcast is terrible and when he was on the radio, he had the shittiest takes, he was blocking people on twitter who disagreed with him. Montreal does not need the media, the team sells itself based on history alone.

I went 4 for 5 in the top 5… Celebrini Levshunov Silayev Lindstrom Demidov This was my Top 5 and I was pretty set on it about 3 months ago… Habs fans said I was crazy that Demidov would have been there for the Habs… I believed teams in the top 5 would draft for need because most of them were in the top 5 in 2023 and they all draft BPA and got some amazing players… This was my thought process… Really enjoy it when it get it right.

Ivan Demidov c'est un peu comme Kirby Dash ou le joueur américain des Penguins je crois. Personnellement pour Kirby Dash je crois que c'est un joueur qui peut être très bon. Vu que y'a pas de triche,ou pas trop ou pour le moment dans la NHL,il (Ivan) peut faire des percées. C'est sûr que tout fait un équilibre par rapport au jeu aussi. Mais c'est pas le joueur qui va tout transformer en attaques surpuissantes ou qui va over dominer le jeu et marquer à répétition. C'est même beaucoup moins que ça et par rapport au niveau actuel de l'attaque des Canadiens ça fera pas une très grosse différence par rapport aux victoires et au classement. Et même si on compare en additionnant avec le reste de l'attaque. C'est pas que c'est un mauvais choix,c'est plus l'organisation de l'attaque (les joueurs) de l'équipe.

Suzuki et Caufield ont joué à match,ce qui arrive après ça c'est plus de buts until the end of times vs les triches au hockey,de toutes façons ça change pas grand chose aux victoires et au classement ou si t'avais pas quelque chose de très spécial. Moi c'est ce que je crois. Tu peux jouer à match et arrêter le jeu mais le jeu s'arrêtera pas toujours. Sinon peut être que c'était parce que c'était l'ultime "kata" de leurs techniques et que si ils fesaient un peu ça depuis même la saison d'avant c'était parce qu'ils étaient très mal pris et parce que tout ça ça vient de quelqu'un d'un magasin.

Avec du recul ce que j'ai découvert naturellement mais avec d'autres facultés inédites c'est que pour penser encore plus à l'attaque en étant déja plus que 100% là-dessus mais sans se mettre au point de pas pouvoir recevoir de puck en étant un peu trop loin,c'est d'attaquer encore plus directement,tout peut servir comme l'esprit du jeu que j'ai dévelopé avec le temps mais qui fusionne carrément avec moi,l'esprit du jeu ça reste des choses basées sur des pensées et après ça se matérialiserait,et ça au début ça peut être hard.
