I agree. I always tease firefighters for only having to be at work 150 days a year just to sleep around, improve their cooking skills, and sweep up glass, but during those few days they are at work and not sleeping they do train very hard for situations like this, and I also give a HUGE THANK YOU to them for their professionalism.

What’s crazy is that I’ve driven over this bridge many times and each time I drive over it I think about what if someone hit the rail in a crash and went over the side!! Mad respect for the crews that pulled that off. They made it look easy, like they do it every day. As a 20+ city FF I am aware of what it takes for a rescue like this to be successful. It's the skills, equipment, attitude, they all have to come together and they do. These crews were great. Everyone had a job and they did their job. They did it calmly, they were methodical, and professional. They will tell you they were just doing their job and will be ready for the next call. Special shout out to the Ladder truck operator, he probably felt the world on his shoulders along with the rescuer.

Incredibly dangerous rescue. If the truck were to suddenly go over, it could become entangled with the rescuer's cable, crushing him and sending them into the river. How come I don't detect chains connected to the axles of the truck box and attached to the bridge abutment on the other side of the bridge? Don't they want to stabilize the load first?
