Your tutorials have helped me come along way in this game. I've only had it for little over one hundred hours of gameplay now, and you have helped me in my trips to the mun, minmus, and setting up a space station around kerbin. Also, I have watched your interplanetary transfer video which has helped me with my interplanetary probes. Just wanted to thank you for the time you put into the vids as well as the information you supply in them. In my career mode, I just recently landed a probe on both Ike and Duna, however, I'm having a slight issue with getting a kerbal onto either celestial body and returning safely *because no one wants to leave a kerbal stranded :) *. Still having a hard time understanding weight to thrust ratios and delta v. I'm playing all stock at the moment with no mods installed. Figured I would try to learn by playing and getting a feel for it, however I've become a bit stuck when it comes to construction of interplanetary rockets that kerbals take part in. I haven't lost any kerbals yet fortunately due to many hours of testing with probes and satellites, but it doesn't yield all the science without kerbals in peril...lol Anything that you could recommend or possibly give pointers to would be awesome. Thanks again for the amazing vids and continue to do what you do.
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
MorphingPhoenix Whoa this is my longest comment, and favorite :) Thanks for the praise im glad I could have helped I learnt a lot of stuff from KZbin like you, theres something about learning from others than a manual that makes it easier. I remember when I started I had no problem with building a small rocket to get into orbit even a small lander to Minmus but had problems building large rockets and getting them into orbit so I rage quit for a week, came back and watched some videos and worked it out (before I used mods). I was thinking of doing a video of a Duna tutorial type video but realized that some may not know about how hard it can initially be to get something large to another planet so may do a build/engineering a rocket video before a mission else where, in the mean time you could use sandbox mess around and build individual stages for each part of the mission, like a lander which can get into orbit maybe dock with a transfer craft that could return from Duna thats what I normally do in fact I built in an earlier version a lander, a base and a rover that would land in same area on Duna at the same time but tested on Kerbin first untill the game was updated never got to use it (NASA tests every thing before setting on their mission). This game can frustrate you while you learn from trial and error but is so much rewarding when you succeed, and I think is one of appealing things I like about the game and that 'IT'S IN SPACE'. Also just thought of it you could build your mission in stages and dock them in Kerbin orbit then go to your destination. If you like math then heres the KSP WIKI which gives formulas to work out what you need even your rockets thrust to wheight ratio and delta V wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Cheat_sheet

Orb8Ter Thank you for the quick reply as well as for the link. I'm checking it out as I'm replying now. :) I'll be sure to keep up to date with your vids. I watch Scott Manley and enjoy his work, but yours is a bit more down to earth for someone like me who is just getting into this kinda game, so it's easier for me to understand some of the things you do and why it's done that way. I'll get to work on trying out something and see where I can get to as far as some design for a space and kerbal worthy craft. Looking forward to more of your amazing work. Keep it up sir, and remember, keep the info down to earth and the ideas and creativity orbiting in your mind. :)

@4:08 Lower orbiting objects aren't travelling faster. They just don't have to go as far. Think about it, it takes two prograde burns to get into a higher orbit. How does two prograde burns equal a lower velocity?
@Orb8Ter6 жыл бұрын
True they do have less distance to travel but dues to the craft being close to the gravity of a planet then the faster it has to travel faster to keep in orbit thats why geostationary orbits are slower because they are not as close to the earth and can stay in a fixed position above the earth, here is a chart if earth orbital heights and speed en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_Earth_orbit
@Thumper7706 жыл бұрын
Orb8Ter seems counter intuitive to me. If you thrust forward, you go faster. Doing it twice but ending up slower......something doesn’t make sense.

@Orb8Ter7 жыл бұрын
+Michael Sa You can use Rcs for anything it us the least efficient but you should use the least efficient fuel first as this reduces weight and increases delta v, plus rcs gives you fine control when you need a precise manouver

just out of curiosity 1. how many attempts did you have to make for each part added 2. how many times have you slammed the last thruster back into kerbin (and possibly some kerbals house) instead of retrograding it to land in the ocean

@Orb8Ter6 жыл бұрын
KaptainKrakens Do you have manouver nodes if yes then try and fidle with them to get best encounter and also reduce the thrust of the rocket for fine control, its basically just try and try again save before you burn for the encounter and load save if you mess up until you get closer
@lesliejohnrichardson9 жыл бұрын
My Intersect is 11.9 km. Is that ok? If not, how do i change? I tried by doing a new maneuver but i only got to 11.8 and didnt burn because its nonsense to me.
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+IndieZocker Yes its close enough you just will have to burn a couple more times. When you get as close as you can make sure the nav ball is set to target if its not make sure you have the other vessel targeted and click on the speed reading on the nav ball untill it shows target. Now point retrograde on the nav ball and burn unntill speed is close to zero Then point at purple circular marker (your target) then burn towards it at between 50m/s to 100m/s Wait to get closer you may find you drift away again so reduce target speed again and burn towards the target again Repeat this until you get close enough to see the target then kill the velocity to zero again You can now try docking ;)
@lesliejohnrichardson9 жыл бұрын
+Orb8Ter actually ur response took me too long so i tried it myselfmand i understood it thanks to you video directly but still thanks and i PERSONALLY more like to burn with a maximum of 50 +-2 BUT i wasn't carefully enough and i crashed into DA FOKIN SPACE FUCKING STATION but tomorrow(Im from germany and here right now its 23:32/11:32PM) i will make like 10 modules(science 1 science 2 and maybe science 3 huge crew containment unit on fuel storage for each fuel there is in stacks, worth 100.000 units of it and some transmitter a huge solar panel thingy thing AND maybe some kind of hangar with tiny ships that get resources from earth and mün and other bodys and more stuff) and launch the modules, and the core into space. As you can see, since a few days ago, when i finally got how to kinda make space stations, i made so much plans and tomorrow i will "do" them. Im so fascinated about this :D Oh and i would love, if you would make a tutorial series on bases(stations on ground). Cya m8 :D

how do you get the target speed so low when you intercept?
@Orb8Ter8 жыл бұрын
+41DayDownloadTimes to get the target speed down make sure the Nav ball is displaying target speed then when you point retrograde on the Nav ball you can thrust to slow down the target speed as the Nav ball is showing relative speed between you and the target and the prograde and retrograde change to that of the target making it easier to match your targets orbit Hope that helps.

thanks, but my problem is I'm too fast on the intercept to begin with

I am having problems with the manoever thing. I cant get a stupid intersection point :-(
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+Green Light Zone Make sure you have the one you want to intersect targeted it wont show otherwise, if you have then it could be the angles of the orbit or inclination if it is too far out then you may not get the closest approach markers so then use the ascending or descending markers and burn to get into the same inclination then try again.

+Orb8Ter I found the problem. It was that I let the station go a little bit too far from my rocket when I was launching. By the way I would like to thank you for this video, it really helped me. Now Im building a huge space station. Thank you.

+MadMen Tips Have enable the RCS with the R key? if so then make sure you have enough RCS fuel and click on the tanks make sure it hasnt been disabled, apart from that I dont know if you have an RCS tank and an RCS thruster on your ship they should work
@goldenhusky29589 жыл бұрын
i think the problem is the RCS tanks!is the small tanks?

Out of curiosity, is there an actual benefit to having a space station in the game?(love all the videos by the way)

+Jacob Sheppard For missions in career yes also you could have a refueling station so yes they can have a purpose Thanks by the way :)

I have a random rocket floating around with no fuel, is there away i can blow it up??? Remotely??
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
If it's space junk you can delete it using the tracking station, if not there's a mod called hyperedit

For me my space station was also not a straight orbit, it's orbit went at an angle so docking for me is like trying to grab something with 1 hand and 2 fingers, and no thumb so it's difficult, very difficult And just destroying it will kill jebadiah Or however you spell his name

+Braeden Mikesell Lol yes I know the feeling when I started close approach i always seemed to get close and then dirt past rapidly

I nearly got there but was going to fast, so I tried to slow down and soon ran out of fuel, so I just watched as it flew by.

Greeting friend. I have done everything you mentioned in your video with no sucsess. Over a month has passed since I saw your video and I haven't reached my goal to dock with my space station core. Someone told me that it could be the version of the game I'm using but as far as I know, it has nothing to do with that. Can you please give me some advice on what to do. The video didn't work for me because the video doesn't show how you went into orbit and if mention to see your preveous video on how to get into orbet, everyone knows that every orbit isn't the same. I will be happy if you can give me detailed instructions on how to dock with my space station core. I have gotten as far as 30 Km but as I mentioned be for, with no sucsess.
@nono79477 жыл бұрын
I got an idea, you can just drive yourself to the rocket, stop yourself, turn the station if it's facing away and just tap yourself to the station

You could set target then aim at target.

My orbit doesn't line up properly and starts to decrease when I'm not burning. And the few times I have made it, my fuel runs out.
@chromaphasia4538 жыл бұрын
Your orbits are too small and the earth is trying to pull you back down, and if you keep running out of fuel you could add more or turn on infinite fuel (alt + f12)
@nono79477 жыл бұрын
How the hell do you make such great orbits?

my navball is upside down. i dont know where i went worng
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+CSGO Pingu Make sure you are controling from the correct part or your part may be placed upside down, if you have a docking port, command pod or probe core pointing in the correct direction right click on it and select control from here, if that doesnt work then its back to the shop to re-engineer ;)

@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+Ed Hander I had this before make sure you have a Kerbal or a control part on the craft if that doesnt work save it then press the new button and try to reload it, if not add a probe core to the craft.

Lol yes i ran into that problem several times best thing to do is reduce the thrust of the rocket so you can do fine adjustments, still hard though 😎

+Orb8Ter whats the trick to making the docking clamps work... everytime i try to make them work nothing happens...while trying to merge ships in hanger...it never works...
@Legowanwan9 жыл бұрын
+wraithbannon I know I'm having the same problem. :(
@Legowanwan9 жыл бұрын
+wraithbannon I found the solution! The docking clamps are backwards, and unfortunately there is no other way to fix that than to rebuild and relaunch your ship.

+CrackedDood - KZbin Uploads / Streams on Twitch I need some advice though for me the hardest part is once you are like 1000 metters away from the target how do you get to that less than 100metter mark , i just keep overshooting or undershooting
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+CrackedDood - KZbin Uploads / Streams on Twitch You need to set your target as a target either in map or double click on the station, set the nav ball to target speed but it should be automatic you need to point retrograde and cancel the speed its then a matter to point ot the target burn not too fast around 20-50m/s make sure you point retrograde and and cancel speed again when you get closer, redo this until you get to around 100m. What happens is that you burn towards the target but both crafts are in a circular orbit so thy drift around and you are no longer heading towards the target so you need to acount for this by cancelling you speed and burn towards target then repeat this to get a bit closer every time, hope this helps. ;)

+CrackedDood - KZbin Uploads / Streams on Twitch click on the speed marker that says orbit until it says target. then burn retro until it is at 0

@dann92087 жыл бұрын
Wait if you burn retrograde doesnt that mean youre doing a de orbit burn?
@Orb8Ter7 жыл бұрын
GalacticalCard12 Not if your Nav ball is set to target then the markers show your direction relative to the target
@dann92087 жыл бұрын
Orb8Ter oh that makes sense thanks a lot!
@fandaklada6096 жыл бұрын
Actually this is not true, atleast in my game. Even if i have Target in my navball and burn to retrogade (or any other side) , its still have effect on my overall orbit line.
