Kevin Franke at Utah legislative committee meeting: "Laws need to change"

Kevin Franke spoke with our Paul Nelson following a statement during a Utah legislative meeting, where he said laws need to change to prevent people like Jodi Hildebrandt from manipulating the system's loopholes. In a prepared statement, Franke said: "A licensed mental health professional should not be able to 'turn off' the ethics and standards associated with his/her professional licensure by acting under the nebulous guise of something called a 'life coach.'”

Our DCFS generally takes children away from low-income and families of color while ignoring abuse in white, middle-class homes. I think Kevin has a really good lawyer.

He abandoned his children not hearing from them for a year leaving them with Jodi KNOWING her believes. He was THERE when a bed was taken away as well as privacy and food and when Christmas was denied. He was there when his kids were being slowly isolated from family and friends and during all of the years of exploitation on KZbin. When things got rough he simply walked away leaving his kids behind. He is not innocent! Not al all. Oh And let's not forget that when he was first listened by the police he recalled how a great mother Ruby was and was still using the same language Jodi taught them, and he also wanted to sue his own daughter. And now he wants to change the law??? I dont buy it! I don't know much about Mormons, but I have learned they would do anything to keep their family toughener, even by covering up pretty horrible things, so I assume he aims at getting custody of the kids and reunite with Ruby as soon as she gets out which might be in only 4 years.

I believe that there was crucial of Kevin and Ruby's parenting long before Jodi became involved. Kevin was a grown man, a college professor and he allowed himself to be manipulated by his wife and her psrtner, Jodi. I believe that Jodi had political connections in the Utah AG's office. Iit wouldn't be surprising to find she was protected for a time by that connection. Utah does need laws to protect children who are exploited by their parents on social media sites. I believe that the 6 children in 8 Passengers should have had a portion of the money made from their channel set aside in a trust not controlled by their parents just as children in movies/television currently have. Apparently there are numerous Utah families, including Ruby's family members make money documenting their families, which in a sense is an invasion of their privacy.

About the statement that "this wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Jodi" as an avid follower of this family they Showed A damaging level of abuse and shared via "Story Time's" of abuse that went way back to when the older kids were very tiny.... They exposed a lot in those video's, it was clear to many viewers that abuse was going on before Jodi. It is My personal opinion that Keven and Rubi just wouldn't have gotten caught because the abuse was enough that It would have slipped ever so slightly under the radar.... He is covering his own ass. Kevin is just as guilty as Ruby, and he is manipulating Sherri, the same child that he wanted the police to arrest after she removed computers from Ruby’s house. Kevin was fully aware and participated in the abuse. He is a coward, and a horrible father.

This man is just deflecting onto the authorities to save himself being in the firing line. It is quite sickening to hear him speak with such authority on what should and should not happen regarding legislation when he is the father who failed to protect his children. He only talks about his own trauma, 2 of his kids were found half dead after months of torture for goodness sakes.

It is interesting that Kevin is speaking about how the government dropped the ball because of "loopholes", but he literally dropped the ball as a father. He should have protected his family from Jodi, but instead he ignored his own misgivings and allowed her to rip his family apart.

Even though Jodi was a master manipulator. When it comes down to it.. Ruby knows right from wrong... And to starve and mentally and physically abused the youngest two kids.. was her choice to do it.. So it's not poor Ruby. And it's not poor Kevin either.. He said in a jail house call with Ruby . That he would raise the kids in truth.. something like that.. It's that connections talk. She said thank you and appreciate that..
