I have a great Doug story. The nicest guy in the world.. about 15 years ago my wife and I travelled 6 hours from Thunder Bay Ontario to Minneapolis to see them at first ave.. we didn’t get tickets ahead of time and found out quickly that it was sold out. We were told by a local to try the local book store down the street from the old Let it be Records.. I asked the man at the counter if he had any tickets for the show and he said no that they were all sold out and sold out everywhere else.. I hear a sweet raspy voice behind me say “I can get you into the show” low and behold it was Doug! We talked for a good 10 minutes and he was so nice and he put us on the guest list. Such a down to earth “rock god”. Thanks Doug!

I had talked to him the month before at the Cincy show for a good 40 mins so didn’t wanna take up a lot of his time like I did before. But he’s the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. Another Dug story here. About 12 years ago I saw BTS in concert. I went to the show by myself and was standing by myself during the opening band, cant remember which one unfortunately. The lights were out in the music hall. With about 10 minutes left in the opener’s set list I looked behind me and Dug was standing about 10 feet back enjoying the music. I walked up to him and said to say hi and that I was excited for the show. He shook my hand and gave me a pat on the back and said his trademark “thanks for coming out to the show” . Right before the opening band finished he slipped past security and went back stage while the lights were still out. I don’t think anyone else saw him that evening standing the the crowd. Such a cool relaxed dude. I have tickets to see them again at the end of this month and am excited to see how they sound live as a trio. I’ve seen them before as a 5-member and a 4-member (one of the Brett’s had a broken arm or something for that show).

Just saw them in Cinci last night and I stuck around for a while and he came back out to start packing up. I have terrible social anxiety but knew this would probably be my only chance to just walk straight up and talk to my idol. So I did. And as nervous as I was he made it extremely relaxed and comfortable. Extremely down to Earth. Talked to everyone that wanted to talk to him. And was nice enough to take a picture with me and give an autograph. One of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet if you get the chance. We talked for well over 35 minutes me and about 5 or 6 other guys just hanging out by the stage with him. Their was a drunk fan who kept coming back for high fives and interrupting other people and stuff but you could tell he was just excited and really vibing out. Doug could have easily told that guy to chill out after the third or fourth time but he never did. He high fived him everytime and made sure to acknowledge him and reply in such a kind way and even joked around a bunch with him. Not many people are like that anymore. Absolutely awesome experience. Still feels very surreal.

I was startruck so it felt like it went by fast and slow and the same time. I looked at my pictures and The first one was taken at 11:20 and I didn’t leave til about 4 mins before 12. I truly don’t think anybody else would do that for their fans. I didn’t talk to him the whole time I’d step aside and let everyone else get to meet and talk to him as long as they wanted but a good 20 of it he conversed with me. Learned more in those 40 mins than I have from most their interviews. It’s crazy how little us built to spill fans have get to see and learn about them.
