Surprised there are GI’s asking for Gun cleaning supplies. I watched a recruit get smoked for having dirty kit! Wait tho... our kits fit in the butt stock as my issue Rifle was A1 then A2. True story on recruits getting too much mail. They got smoked for that too. MEPS gave a short list of things to bring to boot, as long as that was followed you would be good to go. We were issued a 100 bucks to get running shoes, chapstick etc and other toiletries at AAFES prior to hell week. It was week 3 until we seen the PX again. Back then my BII was my Swiss pocket knife, chapstick, pen, note pad, and shaving stuff. A watch is a must. They sell cool bands to keep them safe while in training. Great video! Surprised to see so much stuff on care package wish list!

1) Small Bottles of "Monkey Butt Powder". It doesn't burn like Gold Bond. Even cheaper is Unscented Cornstarch Baby powder. 2)Zip Lock or similar baggies of various sizes. Great for keeping Q-Tips dry, non-rain proof writing materials, etc. I always used the gallon size to pack one whole set each of Underwear, T-Shirt, and socks. 3) Space Pen. They write everywhere and can fit in the same baggie they put their notepad in.

This is gonna be surprising to most, but toilet paper! The paper there is like wiping your crack with a bottle cap, coiled side up. We had a guy have his relative send us toilet paper and we were so happy with the biggest sh!tbag in the platoon for one wholesome moment. The response he got from that actually encouraged him to be more of a team player and by the end, he had really come full circle.

Hi Matt I have been watching a lot of your videos but i have a very unique question i would like to ask. My husband is going into active duty for the airforce within the next year 1/2 and i am getting into shape to go into reserve army a year or so after him..with me being reserve would i be able to set up my post around my husbands base? And would i be stuck working at my assigned post if my husband had to change bases? Just asking as we would want to share housing if at all possible and we know not all recruiters are honest.

There is no "transfer" from one country's military to another. If there are citizenship requirements that have to be fulfilled, that has to be completed, either during the enlistment period, or prior to. You basically have to enlist, take all of the battery of tests (US Military are ASVAB) tests, plus all the physical in-processing.

The Army actually ships everything except personally owned firearms. And vehicles that are in the Continental US. If, let's say you went to Italy and wanted your car, they would ship it for free but you might be without it for up to 3 months. Firearms aren't allowed to be shipped so if you went overseas you would have to make your own storage arrangements. If you want access to your stuff right away when going to a duty station in the States you can rent a U haul or something similar and then get re-imbursed later. Sometimes reimbursement takes awhile so don't depend on that money for a bill or anything else for that matter. Hope this is helpful.

What Branches of the army (Infantry, Field Artillery, Med Services, JAG, etc.) have the most competitive promotions? When I google this, it says the Army is the fastest promoting branch. I am in Army ROTC as a GRFD and I will be choosing my branch in a few months. I am still trying to figure out which branch to choose and one thing I am considering is how competitive it is to get promoted. I know a big factor is the needs of the Army, but if you know which branches have more competitive promotions, tell us.

Im not like a successful, strong, or super intelligent man, but definitely use college credits to your advantage and use the GI Bill etc (up to you) on getting further schooling if you enlist. Also talk to someone about investment after, especially stocks, unless you already have some base in that.
