I can personally attest to the fact that this instrument is a joy to play, as this is my B-3. My wife had it restored for me, and the gang at Keyboard Exchange International did a wonderful job. The organ was a gift from my mother when I was around 13 or 14. It was manufactured sometime between 1964 and 1968. I received the organ second-hand, and now it sounds even better than when I first received it. Kudos to everyone who was involved in the restoration.

I really enjoy the videos, Jim! I restore synthesizers and completely understand that feeling and love for the instruments we restore. I was given a M3 and it has really been inspiring over these last few weeks of owning it both in a musical sense as well as mechanical and electrical aspect. Maybe one day I will find a B3 but the little M3 is great as well just limited octaves.

Thanks for your comment! Ah....the model M3 will always have a place in my heart as it was the very first Hammond I owned and used for several years with TWO Leslie 147's. I was asked to play bass pedals in two different bands of my youth. If I had to do it over again, and if I knew then what I know now, I would have made a greater effort to locate a full-size console as the sound would have been so much fatter and the organ would have been so much more fun to play. Still, the M3 is a great place to start and every B3 owner should find and preserve an M3 for the parts that may be needed in the future.

Seems that this B3 was a complete wreck...I've never seen a connector box completely rotted out before. I have to take my hat off to your staff. I would've walked away from this project, but the determination is to be greatly admired, and the final outcome shows it. Great job!!!

Thank you Frank! It was mentioned that this was our second most challenging project of all time. The first most challenging B3 arrived with the legs cut off and missing, with the organ sitting on milk cartons so the musician could still play it! THAT organ at least arrived in playing condition whereas this one did not so perhaps this should be considered a tie for most challenging.....perhaps a re-evaluation is to be considered...YES, a tie for first place!

Hi Mr. Huss i really love your style of playing, an idea maybe you can make another video talking about what inspired you to your style of playing, and what made you choose playing the B3 organ?! Happy holidays and stay safe!
@KeyboardExchange

Hello Paul and thank you for your kind words and suggestion for a future video. My style developed playing in both rock bands, and praise teams in later life. I was able to fatten up the sound of the bands in a way that is somewhat similar to the way an orchestra might improve the sound of a smaller ensemble. The richness of simply playing chords on a Hammond can really sweeten the sound. Using the drawbars and other techniques developed over time really allowed me to enjoy playing as part of a group. I think your suggestion should be used to ask other musicians how they developed their style and get other points of view, in addition to what I might be able to contribute to a discussion. Like you, I would be interested in hearing and learning from others so let's invite others to comment on your request as well. As I think about it now, I might compare my style of playing to a rhythm guitar player who fattens up the sound of a group and playing chords on the Hammond seems similar to me. I started playing some lead parts later on and am still learning and trying to improve. There is ALWAYS lots of room for improvement for most of us......

So Jim, you mentioned that the B3 will always appreciate. Do you think that the C3 will appreciate as well? Also are you interested in purchasing Hammond Tone Cabinets, I have a PR20 and a PR40 but would like a 122.
@KeyboardExchange
@KeyboardExchange 3 жыл бұрын
Hello R. Wade. I do not think the model C3 will appreciate in the same manner as a B3 due to the fact that what you see at every concert ( most) and most TV shows are B3's not C3's or A-100s. Generally, we sell C3's and A-100's to those who are wanting to save money at the time of purchase. C3's sell for less than a B3 assuming the same condition. There are times when a C3 is more appropriate so might as well save the money and I explain this to customers all the time. The Hammond cabinets have little to no resale value at this time but I do thank you for your offer to sell. My suggestion to you is to trade in your C3 toward a B3 with 122 Leslie. In the long run, you may find it to be a very wise move. Meanwhile, you will have what you really want. I suggest you may have "settled" for your C3. Am I right? I do not think B3's will ALWAYS appreciate it because things seem to go in cycles. When synths were first introduced, my associates told me there was no future for B3's. At that time the prices were super low but have been going up since. The general trend is UP! Where are you located? We can help you with a NEW Leslie 122A delivered to your front door! Contact me directly at: B3buyer@aol.com and more info at: www.keyboardexchange.com

For sure I have seen the prices go way down and then skyrocket out of sight. I started working on Hammonds back in the 70's by accident. There was a thrift store where I would look for HiFi Equipment. One day the guy said take a look at these organs, can you fix these? I said sure just tubes. Well I got a B3 & Leslie for about $75, got it working and got hooked. Even got a Hammond from the old Leslie factory that is now a thrift store! @@KeyboardExchange

@@johntaliaferrothompson6052 Our focus has always been on the vintage Hammond organs. Yamaha makes some great products however my personal passion is for the Hammond B3 model and this is what our customers ask for. "Long live the vintage Hammond B3 organ!" My belief is that this specific organ model will become a serious collector item in the future and even more valuable and more appreciated than it is today. I compare with serious intent to Stradivarius violins. Super clean Hammond B3 organs will grow in value over time and meanwhile can be enjoyed for their musical beauty.

Got a D152 ..run motor not working..no one knows how to fix here in the Philippines 🇵🇭
@KeyboardExchange
@KeyboardExchange 3 жыл бұрын
Two suggestions for you.......try a new RUN switch AND lubricate! If that does not work then replace the run motor or have it rebuilt by a motor rebuilding specialist. Please keep me posted on your progress. I can assure you that the organ can be made to work again! Also, before replacing the run motor or having it rebuilt, make sure your tone generator has enough Hammond oil and is spinning freely when the motors are not engaged. Too much resistance at any part of the system will prevent the run motor from doing its job
