Picatinny gives you the most surface contact and friction making it best for components that are mission critical in not shifting or moving even a fraction of a millimeter such as optics. Even the smallest shift with the smallest MOA can translate to wildly varying accuracy when amplified by great distances. It also gives you the most articulation in positioning components and pulls double duty and functions as a heat sync as you’re adding more material and surface area which makes it ideal for the top of a barrel shroud. So why not do picatinny all the way around the barrel. Well, it adds weight, can be uncomfortable to grip and is bulkier. This is where MLOK comes into play. It is significantly lower profile and milled through the wall of the barrel shroud for recessed mounting, allowing comments to sit flush with the shroud. This is great for keeping components such as a vertical fore grip or weapon light lower profile. Picatinny plates in various lengths can easily be added to MLOK making it even more versatile. Oh yeah, and use key mod if you want an inferior outdated mounting system that gets caught on everything.😂😂😂

I agree picitanny is the best. Damn cheese graters get caught on everything though.

Keymod attachments are supposed to have an integrated recoil lug that presses against the back of the slot when locked in place (per the keymod specs,) it isn't held by the nut alone. Although some cheaper mfgs have neglected to include this in their keymod accessories, no doubt a contributing factor to keymods decline. Twangnbang has an excellent video showing how it actually works. I agree though, that picatinny remains the best attachment method.

CatofTailsNine agreed...they did cheap out on them.

I have to go with mlok, more easy side attachments, even picatinny adapters. The better mlok attachments grab two different holes and cannot slide once the screws are in.

Does anyone else remember when EVERY AR15 attachment had to have picatinny rail on it Scope mounts had rail on the sides of the rings, on top of the rings..etc... Some optics had picatinny rail on them, Buttstocks had rail on it, sections could be added to an A2 sight. and so on.. My how times have changed. Now we need m-lok handguards longer than the barrel itself and optic mounts with 2" risers.

God how true is this! Of the dozen ars I have, my go to is still my classic a2.

Picatinny is king. Everything else is fine. "Oh but Keymod lost in trials..." Yeah. Really harsh trials where they repeatedly drop their Firearm from 6 ft directly into mounting surfaces... So unless you're a dumb@$$ or *actually* a deployed operator WHICH WE'RE ALL NOT, all mounting methods are fine.

Is that a green screen you're working over? The contrast between your hands and the background has that green screen 'edge' to it.

Picatinny looks alot cooler....those skinny mlok and keymod rails look stupid.....they make your ar15 look like a broomstick ....give me a danial defence picatinny quad rail or give me a old wooden stock m1a scout squad or tanker....but i refuse to carry one of these new skinny rail ar15s...i hate the way they look.
