“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” - Shirley Chisholm, former United States Representative and first African American woman elected to the United States Congress.
Chisholm paved an unprecedented path through the complexity of America's political landscape and challenged the norms of her time. What can we learn from her? How can we continue on her legacy?
Alongside constantly seeking new angles and lenses toward technology used for good and reimagining and investigating systems, we are introducing new formats, such as "Seat at the Table." The aftermath, the voices, and the stories that people share hold meaning, and that’s just it: the way these formats help unpack this meaning makes them so important. This is why they matter so much. We were deeply moved by it and hope you will be too.

They have more experience in these areas than the KFF team has, so we went to them for advice, and they have put us on the path and idea of the format for the Seat at The Table.
