Hi, thanks for all your videos. I'm planning to buy a Compact SUV however keeping the features, benefits, drive impression and everything else put together, don't see any option other than Sonet. My daily driving is between 35-50kms and around 400kms highway driving once in a month. Also, there will be average 2 trips a year comprising 1000-3000kms. Personally I would like to go ahead with an automatic car which should be feature rich in terms of driving and comfort. 2 questions. Which one will be more suitable. 1ltr Turbo DCT or the TorqueCoverter one. 2nd, should I wait for any other upcoming Compact SUV. If so, on which should I put my time researching.

For the 1 litre turbo engine with the IMT transmission, isn't the turbo lag a pain in the ass? Like I have to drive the car for 90% of the times in a busy city like Bangalore (daily office going purposes), then isn't the turbo lag something that would screw the experience everyday, everytime? is there a way to get rid of it, or is it something that one has to live with?

While Kia is hitting it out of park with every launch, I am not sure about their cars' GNCAP ratings. Both Sonet and Venue are based on Santro's platform which fared poorly in the GNCAP. So will Sonet and Venue. Seltos available abroad and in India are also based on different platforms. India gets older platform which is not as safe as the one available abroad. One side we have Nexon, EcoSport scoring 5*,4* in GNCAP what's stopping Kia to test their Indian cars and publish GNCAP ratings? Or is it intentional?

pls check your facts on venue platform. Its not the same santro platform but modified one. And I own santro since 2008, aware of its poor built quality, took multiple test drives of venue, observed the car in details. It has pretty impressive built quality, far far better than santro or maruti suzuki

So what hyundai did by tweaking the santro k1 platform for the venue is useless... Well according to that analogy... The nexon is also based on the same x1 platform that was first introduced in 1998 with the Tata indica... Hahahaha that means the 5 star bhangaar c suv is actually based on a 22 year old platform... lol

No doubt about the excellent execution done by KIA. But I must say the video is just spot on from the word go (but as commneted below by others, I won't totally agree with Sonet having the best in class rear seat space)....Rohit makes the best car video in the industry I must say (considering other journalists from Autocar, Zigwheels, EVO and rest I refrain from watching).....the only thing I might complain in comparison (to Autocar India) is the brightness and crisp quality of the video. Anyways great car (just the rear seat space being the fly in the ointment) and a great detailed video as always.👍

For those ignorant souls let me clarify few things. I am just stating the facts and have nothing against any brand. A platform on which car is based is very important from safety standpoint. If platform is unstable then any number of airbags, thick sheet metal are not gonna save you. The reason being, when a body shell of the car is rated unstable, it means it fails to absorb the collision impact and eventually will hurt car occupants. 'Thicker the steel used in the car, safer the car is' a misconception. Often due to lack of any regulations in India, manufacturers resort to cost cutting and launch phased out models, platforms here. There are lot of examples. The car sold in international markets and the one sold in India may differ in many aspects - platform, kerb weight, standard safety equipment, safety aids like lane assist / emergency braking / sleep detection etc. Even when car is being exported from India, it could be different than the one sold here. Indian platforms are often weakened to reduce weight of the car and improve its fuel efficiency figures. Whereas in developed nations, the car has to comply to safety regulations like Euro NCAP, GNCAP, ANCAP etc. in order to sell the car. This automatically forces the car manufacturer to comply to minimum safety standards. Most Indian customers are ignorant / unaware of the these facts. Also they are sensitive to price. A car trim with bigger touchscreen, lot of features is preferred over airbags /ABS. This is exploited by car manufacturers by selling inferior platforms / models here. Leading car manufacturer behave irresponsibly. Their top brass brazenly downplay safety. Can you imagine an entry level car sold by a leading manufacturer, didn't have a passenger side mirror as standard? You have to buy it as accessory. This is the level of cost cutting and sad state of affairs. Their cars are often referred as tin foils and GNCAP result reflects it. Of-course there are exceptions to this. Some manufacturers behave responsibly and always sell safer cars. Hyundai Venue / Kia Sonet sold in India and sold abroad are based on different platforms - K1 and Accent platforms respectively. Accent platform being superior to K1. New Santro, i10 Nios, Venue, Sonet sold in India all are based on K1 platform. Santro received poor rating 2* in the GNCAP with body shell rated unstable. The current i20 sold in India received only 3* in crash test with body shell rated unstable. The car manufactured and sold in India and same model sold abroad could be totally different. Hence unless the car SOLD in India is tested by GNCAP or similar bodies, the ratings are useless for us. On one side we have Indian manufactures focusing on safety of the cars - XUV3OO, Nexon, Altroz, Marazzo etc. which needs to be lauded and on the other hand we have such cases. Unless India specific car's GNCAP rating is available, all such arguments - "feel is solid", "modified platform", "thick sheet metal" are futile. I rest my case.

Im sure majority of the drivers living outside the big cities wouldn't understand or speak English. Majority of these cars are also bought by people living outside the metros.
